@mick1113 This is true - when you factor in the cost of adding traction control etc the price is quite reasonable relative to the "big 4" japanese litre bikes.
@0DiNoO : the video is running a non-nitrous Busa against a naturally aspirated S1000RR, apart from that both bikes have got professional drag mods.So they are balanced out, then why fuss about slower stocks ?????
@ jcadlols - I agree. If you have the money. But the money issue is the whole reason this thread got started. I really like the 100RR. I just can't afford one!
@ BLKHAWK91483 - Youre right. I'm gonna eat some crow here because I just read that the new BMW has 193hp! That's freakin' awesome. But none the less, I like my chances on my ZX14!
@keinraffvonnix - I used to do some road racing too with the CMRA circuit here in Texas. I had a few crashes and decided I did way better when I didn't turn!!! Won a few races in road racing but I really excelled at drag racing and that's where I'll stay.
@keinraffvonnix - no doubt the BMW is a very nice bike but... even when they do catch up in the "power" category, they will still be way overpriced. I commend them for getting in the game but unless they come way down on the price, you'll never see a lot of them at the drag strip. Same can be said for Ducati.
@TrickyRickey111 yeah, its the same for road racing, BMW and Duc are way to expensive, even if i like the desmo. im not a pro in racing, i use a honda, cuz its a solid and cheap bike.
@TrickyRickey111 they have exceeded all other liter bikes in the power category. The s1000rr makes 193bhp stock. To me, if you have the money, that's worthwhile.
The BMW riders reaction time was .06-7 of a second slower , so if they both left at exactly the same time , it would be a tie . It was the rider that was slower ..not the bike . A much longer drag (1 mile) would give a fairer result .
@noyzizi - I have to disagree on the top speed comment. Take a bone stock Busa (or ZX14 for that matter) and put it next to a BMW1000RR and then... Add riders like like Rickey Gadson and Keith Dennis and I can guarantee the BMW will lose in all categories. The BMW is an awesome bike and I'd sure love to have one but when it comes to the drag strip or top speed... I'll take my ZX14. Now, that same comparison done on the Busa vs the ZX14 and you'll see some much closer numbers. Those two bikes ru
@TrickyRickey111 As far as i know, BMW is doing a 4 zylinder since a couple of jears now. the japs having a many many jears advantage of development with a 4 zylinder. i guess it needs another couple of years, and you`ll choose the BMW. but the BMW has one weak point. where the "backframe" (seat) is fixed on the main frame, it needs low energy from the side to break it off. it needs a real small crash and in the next race you have a big problem. i did welding 2 frames jet.
The hayabusa engine in most cases is tuned no where near it's full potential, you have to remember these are road bikes that insurance have to be able to underwrite for and governments have to pass for very strict emissions tests. I would love to see a BMW motor turbo to 700+ BHP. Those dinky wee gearboxes would fall to pieces.
I personally think hayabusa's are overrated. I WILL admit that they are fast as fuck, but i mean big deal it beat a bike that is 300cc less than it is. The race shouldn't have even been as close as it was if the hayabusa was a truly refined machine. The hayabusa is fast because of pure power, not because of performance. And videos such as this are testaments to that.
@himmelfrhat1 so is that not the same as say a 1000hp viper beating a 600hp ferrari? or a 500hp muscle car beating a 300hp import? performance vehicles are built to focus on the main aspect of what theyre competing in, if its a drag race why not have a bigger motor? you dont go to war with a knife and hope to win. although if you look at the speeds the bmw would of came on top if they went a little farther.
at the moment that the bikes pass the finish line busa passes with 142 mph while the bmw passes with 154 mph.this means that the busa won because of the driver.s1000rr is far faster than busa
@c32amgftw Thats just your opinion, I am sorry. Drag Racing is and art form and only some people are good at it. Road Racing is for people that need more time to make up for mistakes they make, otherwise get it right the first time, race from point A to B and do it perfect the first time, and be more perfect than your opponent! Why do we need to race for more than a few seconds to see who is faster ya know? I like the instant gratification I guess... nothing beats drag racing, but thats my op;)
@wyldfantasyx Nah don't be sorry. I have a pretty valid "opinion". There is a lot more of "learning" involved in a road race than in drag racing. Drag racing can be broken into very basic components, just like road racing. Except road racing is more challenging to master and offers far greater variety through different tracks.
"Road Racing is for people that need more time to make up for mistakes they make" this makes no sense...
@wyldfantasyx " Why do we need to race for more than a few seconds to see who is faster..?" To test one driver's skills against another's. To Test one car against another. In a road course the conditions always change and so does the driver's ability to adapt to those conditions, unlike a drag race where its always a straight line, no matter whether you are in China or the US.
Don't get me wrong I love drag racing, but its just not as fun as the twisties.
@c32amgftw testing one car against another can be done in a drag race too, its just over in a few seconds, no bs, straight to the point, remove variables. As a spectator sport it destroys all other racing to me. I am a.d.d. I cant watch long races. Plus you can see the whole track. Plus you can bust off dozens of races, scores of them in rapid sucession. As a driver I would love to do road racing, but financially its much cheaper to drag race. I wish I was rich, I would do every type of racing.
@wyldfantasyx "testing one car against another can be done in a drag race too" Yes that is true, especially if both drivers are equal and know how to launch then its a good test of the car's ability to run a 1/4. And like you said it ends in seconds. Way too fast! Then you have to wait in line and let the car cool down... You know the drill. A road course you race for many minutes, testing your car's ability to stay cool, your tires to stay grippy, your own ability to keep mentally focused...
@c32amgftw see you are wanting to seperate driver from car. Drag racing requires the driver to be perfectly in sync with his machine, thats part of the trick. I dont always want to know which machine is faster, but which person can get which machine to do point A to B in the Least least least amount of time, perfectly with not one wasted millisecond. I like that it ends quick, you should not have to wait long for the truth. Then prepare for battle again. Between rounds I can watch the others.
@wyldfantasyx You don't have to be rich to go road racing. About $100 (some times less) isn't that much really. But for each his own, and I am perfectly cool with you liking drag racing more.
@c32amgftw the wear and tear on a machine raced for extended periods of time is MUCH worse in road racing, I cant imagine the maintenence cost. Plus I like to street drive my projects and to daily drive AND road race would be horrid. It can handle 1320 at a time where I can keep checking on things and stay on top of the maintenence. I am sure one day I will road race it looks fun just not realistic for me right now until I get a different machine to build...
@wyldfantasyx You don't need a fully built race car to go on a road course. I have an E92 M3 and its bone stock, only thing I will get for it is lighter weight wheels and track tires, that is it. Fully warranty and let the dealer worry about repairs ( which are unlikely unless you are a shitty driver and fuk something up). Drag racing a lot of wear and tear, I should know my C6 Z06 blew its motor in the Texas Mile.
@c32amgftw i hear that. my bmw dealership sucks though. they over analyze every warranty repair and try to blame it on racing. i have a 330ci, i would lose alot if im racing enough to wear out fcabs and rtabs.
@c32amgftw lol I am sitting here telling you a race on a budget, like Broke ass racing, and you tell me to get a beemer lol I cant afford new cars dude, thats the point why I have to pick and choose my racing. I avoid the Texas Mile because thats 4x more wear and tear than a 1/4 mile for only one run! I could have had 4 drag races to the one. Your examples only solidify my reasoning. Nice cars though dude, would love to own a corvette someday.

BMW beats everything out crate. It's over 100Lbs. lighter than the Busa and Ninjas with 185hp to the rear wheel. If the BMW had a extended swing arm it would have jumped past the Busa out of the gate. Not bad for a stock wheel base.

@shortizahn I'm not a fan of how the Hayabusa looks but the BMW 1000rr is even uglier with its fish gill air vents on the side and different headlights that make it look like it has spunk eye. Both bikes are revolutionary in there own ways though.
The BMW its not as expensive as many may think. I really hate when people think of bikes as a status symbols.

hayabusa looks fucking gay

@shortizahn I'm not a fan of how the Hayabusa looks but the BMW 1000rr is even uglier with its fish gill air vents on the side and different headlights that make it look like it has spunk eye. Both bikes are revolutionary in there own ways though.
