Well wouldnt changing the rear drive ratio to a higher number not put so much load on the car and therefore allow you to gove higher mph with 4 cyl mode? theres gota be tweaks for this
active fuel management works on my car after 24mph when kept under 2k RPM... it activates when you dont need the power of the 8 cylinders... once you go over 2k rpm it needs more power to push the car therefore deactivating it..
cruise control is just an easier way to keep it at the steady speed and under the required rpm for it to activate...
put it on 1 gear and shift it out at 50mph but when your going 50mph dont put it in 1 gear when your going 50mph because youll blow the tranny a engine so put it in 1 under 50 shift it into to 2nd when your in 50 and dont not go over your rpm in 1st

i have an 06 impala ss with the same 5.3l v8

I guess the active fuel managment does only go in if you're in cruise control.. or?
Well, did you notice a bad or a good effect to gas mileage after installing the magnflow exhaust??

No it works anytime you are OD cruise or not. It will not work if you are in D though.

If you don't have cruise control you actually don't active fuel managment??
for example, the wt doesn't have cruise control standard, but there's a 5.3L with active fuel managment available.. weird.

There isn't alot of diffrence between V4 and V8. With the magnaflows the sound gets just a little deeper and not as loud in V4.

i put the super 40 on mine and i can tell a big difference,4 banger mode it sounds like a helicopter is hovering overhead
