I assisted SK for 2 years from 92-94. He was a great guy then too. Unpretentious! We use to shoot out of Industria super studio a lot at the time. We sometimes end up sharing Industria's large space with Steven Meisel. We shoot in stage 1 or 2 and the other Steven would shoot in stage 4. Good times! I remember Meisel shooting Peggi Moffitt and we were watching him shoot from stage one's window.

Does anyone really believe Steven Klein has to prove anything? SK does not even calls himself an artist ; but you can sure recognize his style as oppose as La Chapelle who bites most of anything he doe including the basis for his work which is a total copy of Jean Paul Goude style. JPG is the photographer behind Grace Jones artistic vision

i havent studied JPG's style thoroughly but i'd say LaChapelle's style is a little bit more surreal. And compared to SK he's more dynamic, and his pictures tell a simpler story. SK seems a little bit more static and occult, low paced and less aggressive.needless to say i'd be happy to be somewhere in between these 2, or even mildly close to them as both are geniuses, along with JPG

@stingrayglobal I also know Steven, but from the horse world. I actually used to see him close to daily in the early '90's; I worked at the farm he boarded his horse. What always impressed me about him was his utter lack of pretense. He is a genuine, authentic man.
