"Social, unanimous agreement" as to objective reality? Please! There IS an objective reality outside us, period. If you don't believe that, allow me to hit you with my "socially accepted" rock over your head and tell me whether your "observer self" feels it or not or whether you choose through will not to fell the pain. This is such a bastardization of quantum physics and the Heisenberg experiment. Lesson: people will believe anything.

@MarcusCMarcellus the idea that consciousness is all there is does not necessarily dispose one to omnipotence. it depends on who you talk to. but one thing is completely certain. all we ever have is experience, which by it self does not deduce that there must be an objective reality. experience is all we have ever had. see Kant. the phenomenal world is the world for us. our reality is a virtual one. there is no way to cross the empirical threshold.

Kant's project was to reconcile the noumenal and phenomenal realms and how we get from one to the other - the categories, time, judgment, aesthetics...Kant would not have agreed that "experience is all we have" - that's Hume. Kant knew there was a verifiable, shared world regardless of what we may think, but it is problematic. Check out my former prof's book: Susuan Shell's The Embodiment of Reason. I'm not entirely unsympathetic to what this film is trying to say, but it's sloppy. Thanks -

@MarcusCMarcellus this is true about kant talking about the noumenal world consisting of objective qualities, but ultimately the criticism can be made that all "objective qualities" are subjective by virtue of the fact that we can never falsify not falsify our sense experience, otherwise empiricist epistemology would not be, coherence and pragmatic theories. I agree it's sloppy too. I am merely showing that there are more rational alternatives to posting the world as consisting of only objects.

All this can be achieved through meditation. All our thoughts are prayers. Thoughts can be held for long periods of time through meditation. If we spend some time daily to be still, just be still, after a while the outer world withdraws and we exist in thought. There we become observers. It takes time, it may seem nothing is happening. If you really want it, it WILL come.
