  • I own the original 12" Remix of this song with Radio Dub mix on the b-side. It was never released on CD. One of the best songs ever!!!!!

  • As you may have already been made aware (multiple comments including one which just says "ducksauce"), the house group Duck Sauce (of "Barbra Streisand" fame) will be releasing a track which samples this soon. So it may end up being a hit after all these years!

  • @Nightstalkernate - Doesn't seem like Duck Sauce is releasing this remix anytime soon, but Bastille did a remake using the same sample, watch v=puPIiwgq6cw includes dl link get it quick cause the members are taking it down due to "Copyright"

  • I was 11 when this song came out. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing. I've been looking for this song for ages........

  • Oh WOW! I haven't heard this since I was in like junior high! I used to have it on a mixed tape that no longer exists. It came right after OMD's 'Talking Loud and Clear'! Thanks for posting this!

  • WHAT A CRACKING GOOD SONG! The Mike Myers lookalike singer has that Ian-blockhead-Dury sound and demeanour. In the 90s, my pal and I used to dredge up all the good songs from the 80s (before revivals, remixes and retrospectives) during roadtrips. This one would keep us awake and alert. We never missed a beat summoning up the energy for this one. Tally ho , off we go!

  • Remember this song well - its a gun!! Love it.

  • This is one great tune!

  • WOW Jodie!! You know your stuff. I was particularly into his 12" mixes. He also later produced 'Adultery' by Do Re Mi.

  • Nicky Tesco BRILLIANT..Martin Rushent could do no wrong at this time : Altered Images Human League The Members wow..........

  • Duck Sauce remixed this track

  • @stephenalexvasquez did they release it ? i've looked everywhere for it.

  • @associate434 not yet, but they will this Summer

  • @stephenalexvasquez OMD are really cool. One of my favorite 80s bands.

  • that is true @JasonBNYC....a slightly different direction for mr tesco and co. Like most 12" ep's released at that time they had a "dance" beat to them. KIlling Joke's "love like blood", Ultravox's "one small day", The Cult's "wildflower" etc...Love them all.

"Chelsea nite club yeah, yeah yeah, go, go, go, go lets all go to Chelsea nite club!!!!!!!"

  • @WestAucksNZ All of those songs are brilliant, especially the Killing Joke and UVox.

  • Great band! Great song . . . though not quite as good as their Chelsea Nightclub stuff.

  • Nearly 30 years later- still stands up.

  • This song got a boatload of US college radio play and their live shows in 82-84 in US were well attended. Those horns live really cooked! I think the UK fans weren't as into it because they preferred the earlier punk-er style Members. I remember that leopard hat, the guy wore it on tour! Don't think I ever saw this vid before though.

  • I had this on vinyl in the 80's ! wish Istill had it!

  • wow, this band changed a lot from the 70s. their stuff from the 70s is completely different.

  • whoooooohooooo song rocks

  • I LOVED this song

  • This song made it to the top of the US college radio charts in spring of 1982! The 12 in ch mix is Killer!!! somebody please post....:-)

  • is that a zephyr?

  • lol got this on vinyl

  • first time i have heard this and i am an expert on all things early 80's !!! Martin Rushent was a top producer at the time.

  • i like it!

  • Hell yeah, I remember this well!

(I had The Members on cassette I 'liberated' from my brother-in-law)

  • ahhh this was one of my favourite songs of the 80s...sigh! good memories!

  • I think if this came out now it'd be the best single of the year and the band would be massive.

  • Okay, I just could not resist! This is so catchy! I've been hooked on "Working Girl" but wow. This is great, too! I can't believe that this was not a hit outside of Australia. Fantastic! I'm definitely buying the 'Uprhythm Downbeat' album now.

  • Look for the 12" on ebay. It's better yet again.

  • STUNNING !!!!!! Where are the tunes of the The Members now ????

If only, they were still around doing it !!!

  • i know for chris payne he is in UK i know him actually

  • They are ... check them out on my space for the UK tours this year 2009...

  • yeah, they are playing in brighton, 30th may

  • Singing 'Delilah' round my piano on May 24. Catch the video.

  • Kinda reminds me of the Blockheads too. Anyway. One of my favs. Thanks

  • heard this now for the first time - LOVE it!!! itz like Ska & rolling stones rock mixed! something mick jagger... like him doing ska music :) LOVE all that brass - sounds so awesome!!!

  • An ultimate jam.

  • After hearing this song and i thought i was sixteen again. Nice tune if u ask me back in those days.

  • I know that the Members' frontman is Nicky Tesco, I'm not sure who the others are

  • @saanzacs JC (JM carroll) ,gtr chris payne,bass .nigel bennett,gtr.adrian lilywhite,drms

  • huge hit in OZ too, bring back the days b4 OZ music industry banned POP music

  • my thoughts exactly

  • THEY DID THAT?!?!?

  • Australia Culture has seen the"pop"cat. vanish to Pop/Rock, "pop" no longer exists as a stand alone cat.

Aussie "Pop" bands usually have to fund there own music or go on indie labels where they market themselvesO/S whilst.

OZ music ind. discredits "Pop" music as not being a "credible" genre.OZ radio plays imported "Pop" from O/S.

when registering copyright in OZ,your selections are every choice of genre but no "POP" catgry, that comes under pop/rock.

  • You too.

  • These were kick ass dance tunes, so much energy.

  • Just enjoy the music. X

  • This and "Only for sheep' are the most underrated songs from the 80's. Both should be standard on any best of the 80's set. Love em both.

  • I love this song. near the midle. part and all of thye rest too.

  • classic tune!!

  • on the members "uprhythm, downbeat", there is a dub version called 'radiodub'

the version avail on amazon does not have the dub version.

  • Where can I find the CD Version with 'Radio Dub'? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks

  • There is a copy of a promo 12" vinyl on e.bay UK at the moment and it is a PROMO too!!

  • Just rediscovered this tune: its fantastic, should have been massive.

Did anyone notice DJ Mike Reid in the video?

I think im gooing to have to go and download this.

"I know what i like so you can al go ride a bike"!

  • Whooo i love The Members, My dads friends with em and was in one of their videos when he was a kid

  • This is the tipical sound from early '80s that I love so!!!! thanks

  • This band was awesome live.......tons of energy and tight!

  • I love it!

  • actually , those 3 you mentioned were some of the best too - "1983 the hot ones" introduced some strange ones, but a classic still ( monte video & the cassettes ) bwahaha classic tune!

  • So freakin cool!! This was huge in Aus. It was on my "1982 out of the Blue" tape. I was ten and music has never been as cool. Well, possibly an exaggeration, but you get the idea.

  • Nah, that was no exaggeration ... it's true ! , i have almost all those EMI compilations from then ..and music definetly kicked arse then - i'll never part with my collection of those, and i have between 2-5 copy's of each one.

'1981 rocks on' is my fav, and " out of the blue" is up there too .

  • 1981 Over The Top, 1982 Up In Lights and 1983 The Hot ones were mine, although tough call.

  • you might want to put the word "the" in the tags for this video so people can find it if they type "the members radio" thank you.

  • You are an absolute LEGEND for posting this song.

I couldnt remember the bands name or the exact name of the song. Have been looking for a couple of months for this killer track. This song was very big in Australia at the time, cant believe it didnt chart in Britain.

  • At last.....The Members on You Tube !!

...got bought up on the stuff !

    Chelsea Nightclub....go...go....go

Let's all go to the Chelsea nightclub!

    Any other video greatly appreciated.

  • Loved when I was 17 and still love it!

  • Trivia Time, kids! The guy in the yellow jacket doubling on trumpet and alto sax is none other than Simon Lloyd, who went on to play with legendary Australian band, Icehouse.

  • I have it on a compilation cd the writer is listed as N Bennett

I loved this but then I'm Australian

  • N Bennett is actually Nigel Bennett, He's a fantastic guitarist, still working & living in London - never done any other job except play guitar. Now that's true dedication.

  • @frentemarchita did`nt he play in julian lennons backing band mid/late 80s?

  • Looking for this everywhere!!! Thanks for posting, a classic!!!
