  • Not on Minimum Maximum!! I wonder why??

  • in my school we call out I.T teacher Henning Schmitz because he looks EXACTLY like him and has the same glasses, he doesnt mind he admits to it himself,

    LONG LIVE KRAFTWERK!!!!!

  • @karlbartosfan Your school is awesome.

  • is henning wearing glasses?

  • I wonder if the background beamers failed?!

  • Lovely live version. The extended instrumental introduction is great.

I just wish they'd played this live in 2004, so we'd have a good-quality version of it on "Minimum-Maximum". But, beyond that, no reason to complain. Thanks for uploading!

  • @Shyyrn

I agree, i wish we had a HQ version of it.

  • I love to see this hilarious Florian on stage. I think he enjoyed the show. too bad that he left the band!

  • Really, he's left the band? So that leaves Ralf Hutter as the only original member. That said but Ralf and Florian have to be in their 60s now so maybe they are wanting to retire?

  • he really didn't retire he's only doing a solo project. He will be back :P

  • this is great.

    the anthem of electronic music.

  • see ya florian

  • Cldplay's sucked, the original is the only oen worthy of praise or respect

  • VAIOOOOOOOOO

  • yeah, no macbook's like the other xD

  • whats the guy second from the right called?

  • Fritz Hilpert. He suffered some heart failure on November but he's all right now :D

  • Coldplay stole it. They may have paid for it but they are getting rich from someone elses talent. If it werent for this song they would still be playing in the back of coffee shops, which is where they fucking belong.

  • Coldplay had the permission from Ralf Hütter. Of Course the original version from Kraftwerk is the best :D

  • wie alt sie geworden sind^^ überlegt ma denn haben wir unsere heutige techno musik zu verdanken.

die "alten säcke" haben es druf^^

  • Sie haben Recht...kein alte säcke sonder Helten.

So far for my German...BTW, this song foresaw online porn and chatroomsex. How futuristic can one be?

  • I didn't know robots could age like that!

  • You're a real jerk you know that djbetehell?

  • well thank you to the one with a humour bypass.

    Enjoy your day.

  • And you're a real tear jerk!

  • This song rules... I'm sure coldplay copied this for 'talk'.. lots of similar melodies there.

  • Well they actually did... and asked Kraftwerk permission :P

  • Its an exact copy..how many people spotted it :)

  • They played it very well on Sacrum-Profanum. ;D It was great! ;]

  • why isn't this on Minimum-Maximum? it is one of my favorite K-werk songs!

  • yeah just like elektric-cafe , wich is my favorite, also not on min-max :(

  • Coldplay is a great band, but I doubt we will look back on their music in twenty/thirty years time and think "far out man they influenced pretty much every musician since"

  • @ snowpatrolgirl, but for others also. chris martin actully wrote to ralf hutter of kraftwerk and asked permission to use the rift on the track "talk" problem was ralf wrote back to chris in german,so chris had to get a friend to translate this. obviously permission was given. chris has reportedley said the were influenced by kraftwerk. hope this clears up any misgivings.

  • About Coldplay:

"Their" song is just a blatant rip-off of Kraftwerk's Computer Love.

  • NOT a ripoff since they did ask Kraftwerk.

  • They use computers now.

But before that they used instruments.

They are just always ahead of their time.

Hopefully they will actually get that Musical suit made.

  • they even "invented" and built their own electronic instruments back in the 1970s, when you couldn't buy any kind of synths for small money ...

  • they are playing Pro evo Soccer over the LAN

  • No, they watch youtube and read your semi-funny comment

  • "Semi-funny", rotflol.

  • in the songbook they say it! they say "Talk contains parts of Computer Love" ... so they don#t have stolen it!

  • I think this is the most beautiful song they ever did.

  • COOL!!!

  • I guess you don`t have any mirrors in your cave

  • it's great.........

  • sounds like talk from Coldplay

  • Quit easy, Coldplay covered the Kraftwerk-Classic

  • ...Why are these people cheering? cant we check our email in peace?!?!....

  • Four geniuses with highly compex equipment creating incredible music...

  • but they are multimuisicans..they´ve done music before 2006 you see? :)

  • The Kraftwerk guys can certainly play more instruments and have more musical skills than any of those Coldplay whimps! For sure!

  • Yeah im sure they can play and are talented, its just so impersonal. I need emotion!! Gotta say though some of favorite music lately is all the video game remixes on OC remix, good stuff!

  • It's their style. I don't think it would work if they were jumping about the place.

  • ah..for sure.....you are kidding, right?

  • No, not at all! Has anyone of Coldplay studied music? No? The Kraftwerk guys are classicly trained musicans!

  • i really don't think they have no idea about music and i think they are good musicians, but Coldplay are talented as well

  • I`ve never said that Coldplay sucks or something I even like some of their songs.

  • @mogul1265 Kraftwerk made their own instruments, like the electric drums.

Kraftwerk is just ahead of their time at any point in time when it comes to music

  • Florian can play the flute

  • ..and the violin and the lap-steel guitar.

Ralf Hütter plays organ, bass guitar and percussion on the very early records.

  • if im not mistaken is that not sony vaio music station laptops and not macs as i was once assured they use?

  • I think the point is in it's original they created a style and a form from scratch. They demean their original work by updating it to suit the style and the transient prodution trend of the day.

  • can anyone tell me who is who?

  • From the left to the right:

Ralf Hütter, Henning Schmitz, Fritz Hilpert, Florian Schneider

  • They are great!!!!!

  • NO COMENT

  • Didn't they do most of their original songs on the Commodore Amiga back in 1990?

  • Sorry, I meant the remixes in the late eighties I think...

  • These souped up later day versions are not as good as the very first original version. I wish they wouldn't try and release updates of their music. Their original productions were too good to need updating, especially if their remixes are aiming today to create a link with the trite hip hop generation.

  • well said, im to young to remember the originals but have heard most of them and computerlove is by far better in its original form

  • yes I agree. That said Coldplay were open about the matter- they got permission, they wanted to do their idea with the riff so fair enough I don't feel too bad about it. Of course everything is usually always better in it's original form and in it's original era. Like a remake of a film an update loses a lot of it's original period charm.

  • well said

  • im old enough to remember, and heared it many times from the old vinyls, but...

i pesonaly like this version most of all.

  • the most sweet song i ever listened.

    A milestone

  • these kats have been around 4 a long time

  • Impressive, even Coldplay covers them!!!

Listen To "Talk" (or don't) and you'll find parts of this tune in there!!!

    - KRAFT -

    - WERK -

  • Coldplay uses the riff (with permission) but it's not a cover song. But, Kraftwerk is so influential that U2 did do a cover of Neon Lights/Neonlicht. And since Kraftwerk makes a direct mention of David Bowie in Trans Europe/Europa Express, does that make Bowie more influential? :P

  • no ;)

But I still find it impressive =)

    Greets Jan

  • where's Ralf?

  • far left

  • bill bailey does a good kraftwerk hokey kokey

  • yeah coldplay definitely stole this tune outright. that letter was begging for them not to sue.

  • 10010101110110111011011011001111011111011111101111110010110111011101000110111100111010111010110110101010101010101010101010101010100101010101001101010110

  • ahahahha...

True, that's actually the right language to use with them

  • Software kann man nicht stehlen - Gedanken sind frei! (frei nach "copyright slavery" - "der Plan")

  • that was such a visionary tune back then...

who would have would have thought in 1981 that people would actually be hooking up through the network on the scale that it happens today?

There hardly weren't any home computers around b ack then, much less the internet.

It has to be said though that seeing their cool futuristic performances of this song in the 80ies and early 90ies, it feels kind of ironic to see them as 4 elderly statesmen in front of sony vaio laptops...

  • too true mate, will we live to see them in 3d?..

we never saw this coming did we?

  • Cool!

  • Having finally realised the link between this and Talk I love Kraftwerk more than ever, and despise Coldplagiarism

  • "coldplagiarism".

    lol, like it.

  • great, now they could call it "Coldplay hate"...

  • They're balancing their cheque-books.

  • so you dont know where youre going and you wanna talk...

    great song :P

  • i remember this song when they played in oslo, great song and video

  • they are reading the comments on their songs on youtube while they are on stage lool ;) sry for crappy english

  • ouuu i just recognized that you already know it haa haaa

  • hey coldplay covered the sound of that song!! lool

  • *sigh* Welcome to the 21st Century, where nobody has to write any original music ever again...

  • I hate coldplay for stealing this tune.

  • Coldplay doesn't steal the tune. Chris Martin wrote a letter to Ralf Utter(Co-leader of Kraftwerk) for the permission to this melody himself and Ralf allowed it.

  • cool also like trans eupore express

  • I can recognize Ralf and Florian on the ends but don't recognize the two gentlemen in the middle. Does anyone know who they are?

  • the people in the middle are fritz hilpert and henning schmitz

  • Thanks.

  • yeah coldplay totally ripped this

  • And i was and i am still very angry of this, this pop rock rednecks using this melody for their tune....

  • muy buen video de una preciosa canción. gracias por ponerlo. me ha emocionado.

  • Man, I think computer love has gotten better over the years. It's so warm and full of love. I was happily surprised when they played it at I love techno, as it wasn't in the 2004 show.

  • "Get This" A Radio show on Triple M FM here in Australia. The Host Tony Martin was talking the other day on how he went to a Kraftwerk concert and that it looked like four business men on their laptops.

The Segment was the 'interesting concerts'

Ive been wanting to see visually what a kraftwerk concert would look like and now that ive seen i am also impressed.

Thanks for the upload . looks great on full screen too.

  • I used to have this LP, bought it in 1980 after seeing them in concert in 1979, hard to believe they are still around.

  • hmmm... The album is from 1981 and they didn't play any gig between 1976 and 1981. But... Maybe... Perhaps...

  • love this kraftwerk are using sony vaio laptops

  • Kraftwerk Were Prophets, No Joke! This Song Is About, What We Call "Love-Chat" In Our World Of Today. I Like The Grooving Basslines And The Nice And Lovely Melody.

  • man, I love that hook. it's easy to see why Coldplay sampled it and used it themselves.

  • Coldplay did not "sample" it. They played the melody on their fancy guitars ;)

  • wish i went to see kraftwerk now. i was probably running about somewhere else fucked! lol. good video.

  • This is kind of weird...it just seems kind of strange to stand on a stage and play electronic music in front of a crowd

  • What as opposed to playing any music on stage?

  • No, but all there doing is standing in a stationary position while they play music. I like the song but it is a little weird to play this type of music in front of a crowd, thats all im saying.

  • Yeah, it's the reverse of hip-hop. Instead of jumping around to a bunch of shit hip-hop that they sampled from someone else, these guys stand around and actually CREATED the tune.

  • Yah good thing I'm not a fan of hip-hop and never insinuated that. Its also nice that your so damn cynical that you researched the archives of responses to this video, in order to attack someone on limited amounts of your own knowledge.

  • Good thing you are not a fan of hip-hop or what? I'm not cynical; factual would be more accurate. It also seems you are the one with limited knowledge of music, questioning why the band just stands on stage. I figured this tune out on guitar back in 1983 when I worked in a music store when the LP came out.

  • Funny, I don't remember questioning their stance on stage, just commenting on the fact that I thought it was strange; as in I wasn't use to it. That's cool, I actually like the song in fact have a liking for several other Kraftwerk songs as well. Sorry that I am not as "knowledgeable" about music, if you don't mind I'd like for you to continue on with your unwarranted attempts to spread your "elite" knowledge. Have a good day.

  • Maybe you should go back and review your other 2 comments then and contact a doctor for your dementia problem.

  • it is kinda funny...they're probably up there surfing, checking email, and instant messaging their friends/family, or getting in some MMORPG action! ha! good song, never the less...

  • I strongly doubt it actually. Allthough I really wouldn't blame them. Would be pretty funny to see one of them bang the laptop because of "some cheater!" in a shoot 'm up and yell "scheisse!". Hehe

  • lmao funny stuff. just play the songs through Itunes and then just play some CSS

  • Ich Lieb' es!

    Nice close shot there.

  • WONDERFULL !!!

never seen something like this before

  • Florian supports Fortuna! I'm sure I seen him at a game.

  • kraftwerk are brilliant i grew up with their music from the seventies right through keep going boys das is gut

  • If you look for Kraftwerk Computer Love you will find a coldplay remix with more attention to the Kraftwerk music. Its pretty good

  • coldplay replayed it

  • the hook sounds like U2's work

  • * sry sounds like Coldplay's - Talk

  • Right...Coldplay uses the original Sample from the original Kraftwerk Single released on the Album "Computerwelt" (1970)

  • ...you mean from 1981 ;) :)

  • ...em right...sry ;)

  • Including M-Audio's Oxygen midi8 and the Vaio's are running cubase sx along with various "Native Instruments." Would be great though to see ralf on the old minimoog and florian working the ARP Odyssey ;))

  • It`s the new version of their portable "Kling Klang Studio"

  • Not just laptops. In front of them there are keyboards and other buttons and gagets ;)

  • Not just laptops. In front of them there are keyboards and other buttons and gagets ;)

  • Funny no instruments, just laptops.

  • Finally! I've been wanting to see a video of the new Computerliebe for a long time.

    Thanks!

  • Awesome! Thanks!
