  • this freakin test isn't so much hard as it is long and freakin boring also the reading has a ton of trick questions where they have questions like"Which word could the author have used in paragraph 2 instead of the word

demise?" and your 4 choices are

    1.End

    2.Downfall

    3.Annihilation

    4.Preservation

It's like ok number 4 is 100% out of the question but wtf the rest of those could all work. they just need to make this dest more logical.

  • Headdesk. Headdesk. Headdesk. I'm glad you made this video, Sparts2010. As a parent of a sophomore, I share this frustration. For the first time ever I'm anxious about standardized test results, which may not even matter.

  • This is hilarious. 5:20 - 5:30

  • I remebered taking the WASL for the first time in 3rd grade :) haha.

  • Thank goodness I passed all of my HSPE's including science. I don't have to deal with this at all. Woot Woot being a Junior rules.

  • So glad I failed the math hspe and get to put my graduation in the hands of Washington state... This makes me so happy to be a Washington state senior....

  • glad i already did the tests when it was wasl and the science part didn't matter. i passed everything else great.

  • I've already written one article on this subject and am now focusing on a follow up story. PS, if anyone on this page has something they'd like to share, or imformtation they found intresting I'd love to hear from you as well.

  • Hi, I'm a Marysville Washington highschool student and have been doing reports and articles on this subject and loved your video. I'd love to discuss your ideas and reasoning in even more detail if you'd allow me. My email address is

  • What trolls

  • i guess all the schools in washington are getting budget cuts

  • baha this made me laugh!!

I just finshed the HSPE last week

it was exactly like the WASL down to the font!

  • Sigh.... glad I moved.

  • Educators should be the majority in control of what happens in education...politicians and billionaires just don't get it.

  • It is sad...does the state even talk about the DAWW and or portfolio? What the hell are we doing? Yes we do have a problem. I feel sad for parents, students and teachers.

  • I am NOT excited to have to deal with that next year >.<

  • FUNNY

  • this is SO CONFUSING! WTF?!

  • Yeah, this is pretty much the exact way it is. I mean, at least the WASL was straightforward and kind of fun back in elementary school. This is just...wut.

  • What? No mention of the COE option for English? :-) Great video. Thanks for taking the time to create this.

  • This vid didn't even touch on requirements for students with IEPs... a whole other can of worms.

  • cheaper and MUCH less confusing

  • This is pretty much how it is. WA represent.

  • sooooo what do i need to pass to graduate???? its getting kind of old now.... :/

  • As a Wa st. teacher, this, we face. Sorry parents. R. Dorn & state legislature--a joke. This group cannot solve the small problems confronting this state in education and most other areas. How can we trust, or have any confidence, frankly, that they can solve our truly big problems? Believe me, more money to THIS group is NOT the answer. This entire state is bereft of intelligent leadership. I wish this were requiredwatching/listening for our entire legislature--and Dorn & the Gov!

  • Every person thinking of moving to Washington should be required to watch this. It's perfect! This is exactly what our parents and kids are going through. Nobody has any answers about what the kids have to do to graduate. Every person who watches this video needs to forward it to the state legislators! It's ridiculous!

  • i had to watch this in english today sigh

  • Government is retarded.

  • This is another argument for separating school and state.

  • I'm a teacher (26 years) and have a 9th and 7th grader of my own. Parents ask me basic, simple questions like this and I have NO CLUE how to answer. This is both funny and, unfortunately, sad. I, too, hope that our state legislators watch this. It can't be that hard to understand that that we're hosed if we don't get this fixed. Soon.

  • I need Spanish and Tagalog versions so I can refer ALL my advisee's parents to the full explanation of how their children will be evaluated for graduation from our school (in King County)

  • LOOOOOOOOOOL

  • I have been a language arts teacher in Washington since 1994. This video is funny (and sad) because it's true.

  • I teach junior high math in washington. This is a better than any explination anyone in the state has put together. This is great!

  • I am a washington math teacher. I laughed myself sick, mostly because all of this is absolutely true!!

  • This needs to be shared with the legislators. We were down there yesterday trying to explain to them how confusing this system is.

  • sad, but true...

  • We would save money, if we could afford it... - hilarious!!!!!!

  • I watched this in my Geometry class today... *sigh*

  • @peopleeater2001 Mr. Koppa?

  • @jojojomon No, Mrs. Pratt.

  • Oh my gosh! It is funny because it is SO TRUE! New name, worse test!

  • Hilarious! It's funny/scary/sad because it's TRUE!

  • OMG - EXACTLY
