you could at least attempt to make it look like you are doing anything. At the start you are still booting up your laptops. I could recreate your entire mix with WMP and the keypad on my keyboard.
Wow. thats good, people say the transitions are bad, but I couldn't heat them. Also, nice snare and kit in the background, i'm also in percussion and djing.
Not bad... the transition out of My Head was pretty bad. Same with the transition into Phantom, that got kind of annoying.
And I agree with most of the other people, there's a lot of equipment here for nothing. I have a simple BCD3000 and I could probably recreate this whole mix.
haha hey i use to go to wayzata i would be a senior now well i am just not there so ive got a question i got a show next saturday but idk if i should buy the behringer djx700 would you recomend it casue ive heard some really bad stuff about it and some good so you guys that have it would you recomend it i wanna buy it mostly because im looking for a mixer with fxs so let me know as soon as possible thanx..
I dont know about the transition to the second song. Loved the transition to the Boys Noize. I enjoyed the 10 minutes while I was at work. Good on ya!

Now I know what it feels like when teachers see their students cheat on tests. Either get some turntables and truly DJ, or produce your own stuff. This requires no skill.
The use of Ableton Live, laptops and MIDI controllers is a perfectly valid form of DJing, and, I'll have you know, requires a lot of fucking skill. I'd love to see you try to reproduce something like this, but it looks like you can't.
Sure, whilst it is good to play your own tracks in mixes, not everyone has the software to do that, and mixing other people's music is a perfect place to start.
And FYI, I can re-create this...using ACTUAL turntables and records. If these kids showed up to a gig and didn't have their trusty Apple-made safety blanket, they wouldn't know what to do. Watch the Beetroots, or Crookers, or Boys Noize live and you'll see real DJing. Without the use of a computer. It's gotten out of hand. Even the DJ's I hang out with that use Serato, don't even bother taking CD's or Vinyls... I hope I'm at a show when one their Mac dies. That'll be hilarious.
Alright, if you can create this let's see some taped evidence.
Yes, I do know about Bloody Beetroots, Crookers and the like, and IMO using a laptop is a perfectly adequate substitute for vinyl. I myself am a Mac/Ableton user, and believe that it is far more practical than vinyls.
If you want to minimalize your setup and base your entire performance on just a trusty Macbook, a MIDI controller and Ableton [NOT Serato], that's absolutely fine. What is unacceptable is DJs who "just press play"
Holy fuck. Lemme clear this up. I'm not bashing the mix. It's awesome. Good tracks, good energy, good all around. It's the fact that anyone who has a laptop can apparently become a DJ now. The new Serato SL3 has an auto cue button for fuck sake. The entire basis of being a DJ is cuing the song up and Serato's completely destroyed it...
omg you guys look so retarted, it´s not even funny. shakin like mental with a MOUSE in the hand.
guys, buy vinyl, stop using a midi keyboard for control, it looks so wacky-
get a second turntable and play vinyl, then u may go back to a midi controller when u got skill.

Doesn't matter how you guys put this together, bottom line is this is a damn solid mix, very well done.

1. The levels on your behringer are not moving, on either channels that you are "using".
2.The DJX700 is not MIDI, so unless your using timecode vinyl, it will not control Traktor, definitely not Ableton.
3. you guys are touching the knobs and faders, at the precise points there is NO change in the song.
4.Why do you have all this equipment, yet you both are only using the keyboards on your laptops all day?

way too much going on in this mix. why do you guys needs so much hardware? wat you done can all be done with one laptop?
damokc1803 2 years ago
No hating there but I don't get why you guys need two computers to do this. It can all be done with one. And quite easily.

Not a bad mix, I would definitely start analysing your tracks from key as the Justice mashup at the end clashes pretty hard.

p.s. Next time, don't use more than 1 track by an artist for a 10 track mix. 3 Boys Noize tracks is a little ridiculous.

It's the same as using Serato. Serato's as skill-less as Ableton to a Mac (unless you're producing, like Justice live.)
bhead88 2 years ago
u are obviously blind... i duno about u but i can see at lease one STANTON TURNTABLE... they just choose not to use it in this mix. ur a douche

Yeh true, but in this case they haven't used the Serato SL3, they used Ableton Live 7

cdjs have auto cue. What's the big deal? If it auto beatmatched I'd be worried... maybe. Probably not actually cus I'm badass enough to not care.
