I love this band, this video takes me right back to high school.....I guess it was a predecessor of things to come......thanks so much to life, and coming when it did!!
this looks so much like my high school days, the tasty freeze, the inside of the out door threater, the Elco theater downtown, the girls in the video especially the one in front of the yellow sign.....the Cryan Shames was the first professional bank I had ever seen...I guess it was a predecessor of things to come....thanks so much for life coming when it did.....
In Denver, on Boss AM Radio, 950 KIMN, this was a top 20 song, & I loved it. These guys--like The Critters--could really, REALLY sing. Great music from an innocent time--I was 20 yrs/. old, & knew I'd always be young, handsome, & invincible. Wolfsky9, almost 65 y/o.
I always loved the Jim Fairs lead guitar on this. He inspired me to buy a Gretsch countery gentleman so i would sound like this! I loved this band. First song I ever learned on guitar was their rendition of "Heat Wave" too!
The Cryan' Shames were actually NO hit wonders. At least as far as top 40 hits go. Still...they SHOULD have been huge! I will never understand why they weren't huge! It certainly wasn't for a lack of talent!
I THINK YOUR GETTING MIXED UP WITH TWO GROUPS, THIS IS THE CRYAN SHAMES FROM AMERICA, THE PICTURE ON THE BEGINNING OF THIS TUNE IS OF THE LIVERPOOL BAND UK, THE CRYIN SHAMES WHICH SUNG PLEASE STAY, ANDWHATS NEW PUSSYCAT, NOBODY WAVED GOODBYE,RECORDED BY JOE MEEK IN LONDON

is the Cryin Shames a different band than Cryan' Shames????? I am confused. Knew the Cryan' Shames, from Chicagoland, but the Please Stay video was unfamiliar. Synthesis, Scratch in the Sky, Sugar and Spice, those albums I know. Is there another band?
@icu109 Yes, the Cryin' Shames were a completely different band out of Liverpool, around the same time. The title name is spelled wrong here and the pictures are incorrect, except for the one at 0:53 which IS Chicago's Cryan' Shames. 'Please Stay' was a hit from England's band :)
The Cryan' Shames were one of my favs from my youth. Growing up in SW Michigan I saw them a number of times at the local roller rink and of course they packed the house. I loved their harmonies and their stage presence was outstanding. Thanks for posting this "rare" Shames tune.

A scratch in the sky.....This album has to be one of the best ever produced. It rivals "pet sounds" by the beach boys. When I was about 12 I took music lessons at the carvor school of music in hisdale. My teacher was a older women who used to tell me that the guys from the CS jamed there. Can someone confirm that???
Please don't think of this group as a one hit wonder! They had many wonderful songs, their harmonies were spot on, and it brings back the feud between WLS and WCFL and the great songs played on both stations. Sad you have to leave some of this behind when you leave Chgo.
Also, the Cryan' Shames were not just a one-hit wonder, at least not in the midwest. Their 'Sugar and Spice' went national in 1966, and 'It Could Be We're In Love' in 1967. Chicago saw several other hits from this great group!
Not to be confused, these are the Cryan' Shames (with an 'a') from Hinsdale, Illinois! The Cryin' Shames (with an 'i') were a British group out of Liverpool in the mid-60's.
it was the music of the new colony six, the cryan shames and the buckinhams that lead me to a career in radio...cuz i just loved to listen to those groups on the radio all day long..thanks for remembering with me
you have a mix of 2 cryan shame groups you know. The Decca group is from England i think. Anyway, over sees somewhere. This is by the Chicago group. I saw them 3 times here down state and they were great.

Why do you have a picture of the Liverpool UK band the Cryin Shames and their record Please Stay as the opening pics? They were different groups...

Only time I heard their songs in Seattle was when a friend moved there from the Midwest and had their album.
I never heard them on the radio.

This is the Cryan' Shames from Chicago.
The Cryin' Shames (from the same era) were a British band.

They sound a lot like The Association. Even the lead singer sounds a lot like Terry Kirkland (or Jim Yester?).

Great song with the classic sound of the Cryin' Shames.
These songs take us back to days that were more simple, pure, filled with magic and love. Ahh, reminds me of my first Love..
RIP Marcia, always love you my babe
