  • Seems like a Clever Coffee Dripper would make a better cup by maintaining a more stable temperature for optimal extraction. Less hassle too, but the downside is that one would have to be more careful so as not to damage it while backpacking or traveling.

  • be carefull, some time stapples are glued each other with some type of plastic / adesive. Not good to drink :)

  • @nemerix Now that is something I never considered. Thank you for commenting and letting us all know. Better safe than sick!

  • Now remember, You have to drink it for a week, Black. I was told this years ago from a Buddy that i worked with (he gave me a hard time). So i did what he asked and he was absolute 100 % correct. I enjoy coffee much more than ever. And like you said, no packing the extra. Not to mention that all you have to do is pore and drink. None of this mixing stuff. Could you see Clint Eastwood or John Wane putting candy in there coffee. LOL!!!! I think NOT!! Have a good one Bud.

  • You had, a good cup of coffee, till you put the candy in it.......If you drink coffee black for 1 week weather you like it or not. You will never put a thing in it again...

And at this point. You will be drinking "COFFEE". And prefer it....Try it and let me know.......You will be glad you did. Black strong coffee is a great thing in a natural state.

    Louisiana Cajun...

  • @todddguillory All right. You got me. Next brew in the wood is going to be black. I can't knock it until I try it. Leaving that candy as you call it at home will also lighten my load. A significant advantage of your suggestion for me! I will remember to keep you posted.

  • I'll stick with my boiled water and honey >:)

  • I prefer a lexan coffee press in the Bush. I can make coffee and loose leaf tea quick and easy. Clean up is a simple rinse and now other trash to deal with.

  • @hoosierarcher Fresh brewed is the only way to go!

  • @EconoChallenge absolutely right there my Canadian acquaintence. Although the new Starbucks VIA is worth checking out as it makes a passable cup of coffee IF you need to keep weight to a minimum.

  • @hoosierarcher Shhh. Don't spread this around. But some of us are Canadian coffee snobs. We snobs support Tim Hortons rather than Starbucks. Not because the coffee is better but we feel we have to support one or the other. Similar to story as you might find with Coke and Pepsi snobs!

  • @EconoChallenge I was born here in Indiana; but I was raised in Michigan and lived there from the age of 18 months until I was 38. I hunted and fished in Ontario and was well acquainted with the Tim Horton's chain. It came to Michigan before I left and I can not return to the Great White North without a trip to Tim Horton's. One of my weaknesses in life is a cup of Tim Horton's coffee, black and an orange, cranberry muffin. In fact when I moved to California from Michigan I had a T.H. travel mug

  • @hoosierarcher I could never learn how to order coffee at starbucks anyway. ;-)

  • @EconoChallenge It is really easy, You say, "Give me the biggest cup of coffee you have and leave room for cream and sugar." No wrries about, "Tall, Venti, and Grande." In my case however it is, "Fill this travel mug with your boldest brew today, no room needed for cream, milk, soy milk or anything other than coffee.Thanks." I prefer Tim Horton's myself. Say "large" get a large. Hand them a big thermos, get it filled for the price of (last time I was there) 2 larges. AHHH Coffee.

  • @EconoChallenge Hey, I'm from Seattle, home of coffee snobs and Charbucks. lol And I don't know anyone who drinks coffee there, given all the great independent alternatives.

  • I got it solved easily because I only drink disolvable coffee

  • Very very cool idea. I like those little teabag type devices but they dont make them in my favorite brand. I need some of those bags now. Thanks for sharing!

  • @Reallybigmonkey1 Check out the info under the video. You may be able to pick some up direct as part of the companies promotion.

  • hey this is good vid thnks u should make some more.

  • Worked well buddy :o) It just a great idea!

  • Pretty cool. It's like coffee in a tea bag. I like those new starbucks individual packets that you can just pour into a cup of hot water and drink.

  • @enjoythewildUSA Hmmm. Starbucks you say. You mean that coffee company that is trying to compete with our beloved Timmy's? That Starbucks? I have heard but never tried it.

  • @enjoythewildUSA Yeah, I've had those--after coming back from my AT thru-hike. Augh, wish I knew then...!

  • @FourReason Your observations are impressive. Thank you for watching from the other side! The coffee filters are made in Canada from US pulp according to the package. Its the UN of coffee!

  • We just use a permanent filter, sit it on the cup, spoon in the coffee and pour, done !

  • @BLynchCAN If you follow the directions it takes three or four minutes of pouring a little and waiting to get two cups. How it it with the permanent filter?

  • @EconoChallenge When you pour the water in the open filter with coffe it'd so slow that by the time you're done the water is cold...haha. I have a GSI nylon filter that is the same.Takesway to long and you end up with cold coffee...haha

  • @Ggreenvideos Ya see. I knew I was not the only one that thought it was ridiculous. Plus you are all hunched over trying to make it in camp. And ya ... when you done it is luke warm.

  • @EconoChallenge That's partly why I like my Tasters Choice instant...haha! I think people are forgeting that it' real coffee too...haha! But I'm gonna' give this a go...again :o) Thanks buddy :o)

  • @EconoChallenge There's bagged coffee at the dollar store too :o) I stocked up...hehe

  • @EconoChallenge Actually JP, it's instant. We just boil water, pour some coffee into the filter, set the filter on a metal cup and dribble the hot water in. It has to be a good filter and it does fit the meal cups just right, tried other filters not so good.

  • Was a good video, but would have been allot better if the girl in the calendar was making it in her 2 piece lol

  • @medicjimr A calendar in the background is a close as we are going to get. I keep asking though.

  • @EconoChallenge Awwweee not fair lol : )

  • You could save some money and just fold up your own bags from a standard coffee filter.

  • @Prepare2Survive These can be purchased by special promotion at $3.00 USD for one package of 40. That is very inexpensive.

  • @EconoChallenge

yeah, i'm just trying to point out that for $3 you can get 600 regular filters at the dollar store. That's 15 times as much.

  • @Prepare2Survive 600 ... really? Man I did not do all my homework on this one. That is a deal!

  • @EconoChallenge

lol, I still love your video

  • @EconoChallenge I agree bro. Those filters are much stronger than a standard coffee filter too. They don't rip as easy :o)

  • Those are the same ones I bought at Canadian Tire...hehe. The only thing I did different was twisted the top of the bag and tied the string. I guess my biggest problem was trying to put enough coffee in the bag for a 2 cupper! Guess I'll have to use less coffee and put 2 bags in the cup LOL! Nice job buddy :o)

  • @Ggreenvideos No worries. I did the same thing testing this all out. Kept trying to stuff more and more coffee in the bag to make it stronger. The bags kept blowing up and you end up with a hobo coffee. Two bags for a two cup pot is the way to go for sure!

  • Looks like you get better filters up there in Canada than we do here in Brazil. Ours don't have that nice hole for a string. The secret to good coffee is location, location, location. No better place for it than out in the bush.

  • @Colhane That is true for us ... now. For the past few years I have been taking instant for my morning coffee fix. Not anymore thanks to your video. The best thing we ever did was put up a channel and start interacting with other like minded people. Now I have you to thank for my next great cup of coffee in the wild. Thank you for sharing with all of us.

  • ... cool tip, man! I need a coffee now! Tim ;o)

  • You can buy them online at minimus.com they got lots of travel/camping stuff.

I believe Maxwell house now has bag coffee as well.

  • YOU COULD TAKE IT ONE STEP FURTHER AND ADD YOUR SUGAR AND DRY CREAMER INTO THE BAG ...:)

  • @mrgreenjeans328 No more room. If you try to stuff more in the bag you run the risk of the bag breaking.

  • Very good idea!

  • No a coffee fan myself but great little invention. Nice calender too :)

    Nate

  • I am going to make coffee right now.

  • great idea on a diy tea/coffee bag. i know that here in the states folgers makes a premade coffee bag similar to what you have made. not sure is you have them in your area. they are a little on the weak side so i use 2 when i am on the trail. they taste pretty good but nothing beats fresh ground!!

  • @grich9860 Folgers that must have been the one. We could buy them here a few years ago. Just long enough for us to get hooked and then they disappeared. I guess we were not buying enough. So it has been a few years of hot chocolate and instant coffee. This will be something I could trade with other hikers on the trail for sure! I have to use two bags in my World Famous mug because it holds two cups. Thanks for the comment.
