  • Dr. Guitar

  • And Al couldn't carry Frank Gambale's guitar case!

  • to everyone who's talking shit about carlos santana. keep this in mind Al said himself that carlos was an early inspiration for him because santana was the first to put latin percussion into rock. I love Al but hate his personality, my dad's friend knows him told me some stories that makes him sound like the biggest douche in the world. Also santana is almost 70 now, children respect your elders =p

  • NY Daily News: Al Di Meola got three gold albums, but guitar virtuoso Al Di Meola doesn't want to pay a penny in child support for his 8-year old son, Kyle. Di Meola allegedly has visited his son only once, according to the boy's mother, Magda Barreca. Di Meola Productions rakes in millions but he claimed to have a salary of $49,000 in Family Court & defaulted on his $122 per week payments. Di Meola - has a $1,147,000 Colonial mansion in N.J., a condo in Miami, Land Rover & Mercedes SL 600.

  • Rolling Stone Mag., has never heard DiMeola. Can you believe it? They regard JH as the best guitarist , all time. What a crock. I guess that they don't even rate AL.

  • @hwck7714 Rolling Stones magazine is a piece of shit. If you want to look for good music and the best of what music offers there's plenty of artists of very talented artist who play for the love of music not for money and are 100X better than what you see on the Rolling Stones or on television.

  • @Josh350 You must not have understood. I also regard Rolling Stone Mag. as a piece of crap. As well as J Hendrix which they rated as the best. What a crock. I do know where to hear the good and serious musicians which yes are not in it for the money.

  • creo que nadie mas puede tocar tan rápido y tan limpio.

  • De la hoostia , Parmisano en las teclas. Tema que sigo escuchando y muuuuuuuuuucho!!

  • Can you compare Santana to DiMeola? I dont thnk so. Carlos plays well for not being musically trained like AL. Carlos just plays all from the heart and has some technical chops. But Al went to Berklee. That speaks alot right there. Al is very precise in his playing. I always say you judge a guitar player how much LESS distortion he uses. I respect both Carlos & AL. Remember Carlos was playing way back there in the 60's. He is a grea player in hs own right.

  • Amazing. I saw him in concert with RTF three years ago. Would love to see him solo, too.

  • When I imagine the face of Senor Mouse, even though he is clearly fictitious, I imagine the keyboard players face. He just strikes me as the mouse type...

  • 2:10 "fuck yeah"

  • en el atril tiene todas las tablaturas el chavón!

  • the old version is better

  • such a beautiful song

  • Now tell me that Santana can play guitar...

  • The Prs does not sound right...tinny sounding. He needs his les Paul back! I think it has his balls attached to it. When he starts playing it again he'll have his balls back and play like the man once again.

  • 1:41 look at the bass ...WTF?

  • @hachouma23

Its a Fodera. Same brand that Victor Wooten plays.

  • @DrFunkness Is it tony grey?

  • @netorockerg Mike Pope

  • Al rocks the PRS great tone but I like the Les Pauls better in Al's hands. He must really like these guitars because he plays the quite a bit now. Very fat sound.

  • how is the bassplayer?

  • live at the egg this week

  • I miss seeing Al with the Les Pauls.

  • Just awesome! Al DiMeola and a PRS, blowin'!

  • He is the King!!! Can't wait to see him this month at Berks Jazz Fest in Rdg PA

  • Genius would be an insult

  • Long live Al Di Meola, RTF, and Chick Corea!

  • Al is just technically incredible! He is fun to watch play. Was watching Steve Vai earlier. Both of these guys are something else! If you dont get inspired to play music by watching Steve or Al? You got to be kidding me! WOW!

  • This is how you play kids!!!!!

  • one of a kind

  • pendejo!! my ass...

  • entiendo mas de lo que tu jamas entenderas el estilo espanol. Gran pendejo!!

  • I can't understand how negative criticism can so easily be applied to one such as this. He is among the most accomplished in the world. I started listening to him in 1975, 36 years ago and he was amazing then. I thank him for those countless hours As for this piece, you know he's not reading sheet music to remember Senor Mouse, Instead, he's arranged something old to keep it new. Classical, no? It's his band, but he makes everybody shine. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. PEACE!

  • Carlos Santana can carry my nutsack. Every time he opens his mouth I think he needs slapped. Not by me, personally, but the urge is there. What an ignorant individual.

  • @Daim0th I so disagree. In fact I'm surprised to here this opinion expressed. He's a fantastic guitarist. He loses himself in the music as much if not more so than any guitarist I've ever heard. Recent stuff sucks but listen to "caravanserai". One of the best albums ever recorded IMHC.

    Peace and Luv.

  • @edshift . I agree, classy guitar work on all. I consider AL Di one of the best guitarist around many similar to him. These type of musicians are serious about their art, if I may say. The " Caravaserai" album was a superb album, (Santana of course). For one album from more than 30 yrs ago, it remains a class of its own.

  • @edshift

You could fill a small country with people who can't stand Santana, actually.

  • I have listened to Al for many years, and I think he is a great technician, but he definitely lacks warmth in his music. My five cents anyway.

  • Looks like Santana on steroids

  • @lookxpress I agree. Carlos Santana could'nt carry Al Di Meolas guitar case.

  • Amazing Music + Great Performance = EXCELLENCE! These guys are phenomenal. What a superb band!!!. I've been a follower of Al since the 70's

  • al has become a normal person he's had some odd eras like Kiss my Ax , sounded satriani inspired Lol

  • ahora conio!!! sonido latino carajo!!!

  • despite the fact I"ve seen it a million times , it's still almost weird to see Al playing an electric guitar

  • Al Di Meola, un gran mùsico, y excelentes músicos los de su banda, una gran performance...desde Argentina, un abrazo para todos los fanáticos de AL

desde Buenos Aires, Hudson, EL COTUR

  • @kranne31 Gracias.

  • theres definitely no guitar in the world which is as awesome pretty as (t)his one :)

  • The pianist is the Argentinian, Mario Parmisano.

  • is that Gary Novak, Mike Pope, and Gumbi Ortiz? and who's the pianist?

  • @r3ck0rd It must be Joel Taylor on drums... I'm sure it isn't Gary Novak.

  • @PapaDudeness ah yes... Gary Novak is thinner than him I think :D

  • what other Chick Corea's song that he used for his albums? I've heard his version of Spain, No Mystery, and this song (Captain Señor Mouse)...

  • @r3ck0rd The song "Phantom" off Al Di's "Kiss My Axe" record, is a Chick Corea composition.

  • Nice version! While I like it, it still makes me want to go back and listen to it with Chick Corea and Stanley Clark playing.

  • Killer PRS.

  • I have been a fan of di Meola since high school (early 90s) and though I have yet to see him concert, I get captivated by the live streams online as well as his music which spans for almost 40 years.

56 Y.O. and this cat ain't missed a beat yet! Al di Meola ATW!

BTW, I'm one of the MILLIONS of fans AND he's the only one that I know of that could perform a Chick Corea composition and TOP THE ORIGINAL!

    'Nuff said!

  • Very cool version!

  • I love this version of Senor Mouse, it's one my favourite tunes. What an amazing arrangement!

  • damn he can use that pinky!

  • prs guitar not les paul

  • Love the music but the light effects are making me nauseated. Had to stop watching and just listened. ( o _ 0 )

  • Yesterday I saw him live in Funchal Jazz, Madeira Island... it was beautiful... the best concert I've ever heard, and i'm sure it is the best i'll ever hear.

  • <------has this epic dvd

  • ahh nice! mike pope on bass :D

  • This guy is above the normal, he is a genius!

  • So many unique guitar players out there. AL definitely stands out as one of THE most unique!

  • Al is great, but I still think Bill Connors' playing on the original recording is the best.

  • Dang. He can still shred out those fusion solos like it was the 70's.

  • This Jazz is chill shred. awesome

  • what a badadass conga player

  • This guy knows how to play Jazz!

  • Comment removed

  • Tak toto má pořádné kule! Bravo!

  • Saw this line up on their first or second gig together....dropping sections, missing parts....VERY rough around the edges....he was even yelling at Gumbi onstage!

Looks like they got it together, tho'!!

I was looking for clips from this to see if I'd buy it,,,,,.thanks for the post!

  • I don't care that there are a million D'meola fans; All I care is the fact there ARE millions of D'meola fans. This guy inspired me to play my Les Paul the way it was meat to be played.

    Thanks for the inspiration AL.

  • Ditto!

  • Watching Al has that affect on many musicians.. even bass, horn players, etc...

I think he is shredding a PRS axe.... these are quality guitars.Fast and awesome sustain... even the ones from Korea..!

  • @hartistry1957 I feel the exact same way. The first time I say him was at one of the private night concerts at the NAMM show in Anaheim in the 80's. EVH, Satriani and George Lynch were in the audience and at one point all three of them stood up and their mouths were gaped open. I knew then I was seeing something special. Al definately inspired me to play better and with more feeling.

  • @12caanis Wow, all that ego under one roof! I've been to the Euro NAMM show, but no stars. Thanks for the comments.

  • @12caanis

This is because will ppl like Satriani are still fiddling around with straightforward diatonic harmony Di Meola is incorporating a lot of different harmonic ideas from other cultures.

  • @hartistry1957 meat lol

  • @hartistry1957 fyi he is playing a Dean Hardtail Exotica just thought you should know, not disin you or your les paul

  • @bynog101 that's a paul reed smith.

  • @bynog101 try again

  • NICE!!!!

  • very nice

  • i like al di Meola on Classic Guitar moor

  • I have to agree also.

  • Al is a drummer himself. Drummers love to play/tour with him and he picks the best.

    This guy is very good.

  • @holajim I feel like drummers are always the best guitar players.

  • @JosephIbrahim88 I played guitar obsessively for 10 years then picked up hand percussion in about a summer.

You're so right and it works both ways. Also there is huge cross fertilisation. I'm a better guitarist for playing percussion and vice versa.

    Luv 'n' Peace.

  • Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin are the best. Can't get enough of that '70s fusion.

  • Al Di Meola is my all time favorite.

    Love you Al !!!

  • claro! porque eres un pelotudo:::::

  • My Favorite composer (Chic Corea ) and Al . My God how could it get any better

  • I love jazz and i love roots latin music but somehow i hate latin jazz

  • I don't like Latin Jazz cause it reminds of Santana....And i Hate santana...But Al Di Meola is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i totally respect your opinion on music...just sayin that so we dont become the cliche people on youtube who diss each other...cause i got nothing but respect for you....but come on!!! santana rules!!!!! peace and love to ya!!! hahaha...i'm a lameass

  • i read in an article on al that in his earlier days he was very influenced by santana

  • haha, i know. Al can write such great, melodic stuff over Latin rhythms and progressions. Santana is a good rock guitarist but not a great composer. I guess he was content with being just a rock star and there's nothing wrong with that. Jazz/Fusion just demands in general a higher level of musicianship.

  • .......

Nobody else on Earth will get a PRS with a white back, and a 10 top.

Axe is like butter. Melty, but tasty.

  • its a prs modern eagle 2, im sure thats how all of them are.

  • grande classe

  • I didnt know Jay Leno played keyboards for Di Meola, lol

  • My favorite face-puller at work! Great piece!

  • Dude? What's wrong with you? Develop a sense of humor! It's called a joke? Remember those? I know it's one of the best shows out there, and i'm currently working to bring him to Costa Rica

  • Let me try to explain this to anyone under 40. When this came out nothing was even close. "EVH" whatever. This is a compositional masterpiece, get it? You could spend a lifetime learning how to play this, and you just might get it right. However, I challenge anyone to write something that has 1/2 the integriy and longevity this quaint little peice of music has. For that matter write anything anyone wants to hear. I dare ya!

  • you know what u r talking about

  • Wow, I think the real show here is Gumbi Ortiz... he's amazing on those congas!

  • CAPITÁN SEÑOR RATÓN!!!!!!!!! all a classic, but all you are in the correct, that people don't know what is playing!! that song is such awesome!!!

  • Cool un ich war dabei :D

  • Awesome!

  • I know it's jazz rock, but that crowd is completely dead

  • Yeah, If could see Al live I would probably shit my pants, and scream like a girl

  • thrice. thrice have i seen al live. and thrice have i shat my pants and screamed like a girl.

  • it's three times, and wtf? shat?!

  • thrice is a word, and shat=past tense of the verb shit :)

  • You know what it this reminds me of ? Those SaintSanders videos, like the "Yngwie Shred videos" except that Al is playing really good, but the crowd sounds like the crowd in those videos lol It kinda makes me laugh to think about it. And cry too.

  • They O.D'd on Britney Spears. This is and forever will be the only real music. I've been jammin' to this since '77, and There's no sign of anyone I know getting sick of it yet. Check out "Friday Night in San Francisco" you won't be disappointed.

  • This is a great vid! I love it!
