ok, so who else really really really LOVES that little ending theme in unison at 7:28? I love how that is all in octaves and it just sounds so FULL! I love this quartet. In my opinion, the best quartet in the world!:) **chills chills*i am a geek!lol
@zygoose It took me a while to get used to, but like then, you just get why they do the head motions and body movements after a while. The feel the piece rather than just play it... they express it! It 'tis be lovely! I love this song!
i did too well lik a month a go they were rly good i likd the one where that dude told the story behind one of the songs n there was a dud e that killed his own wife it was rly cool

Exceedingly dry acoustics, yet they have a very good sound. A Good Testament. Now, the phrasing is too metronomic? No one really opens up or takes real liberties until nearly two thirds of the movement is gone. Is it the speed? At such a tempo, being metronomic is "safe," but misses Felix' subtleties. When a new phrase or idea is introduced, it need not begin at the beat. Yup, scary, and requires complete communication. Cut the temp a hair and bring in some heart and I'll really be blessed!
Just saw them at Spivey Hall today :D They were amazing. Too bad there's not a bass, though~

Saw them at Spivey Hall. Not gonna lie. Teared up a little. "Phenomenal" scratches the surface as an adjective for their performances.

not lame. They're into the music and they're communicating the energy of the piece.

this piece was written in response to the sudden death of his sister. she was also a musician and his kindred spirit.

is it true that he passed away soon after her death? I heard that he had a stroke or something a few weeks after he wrote this piece.

I heard this string quartet on the radio one afternoon and I couldn't forget about it for months! I think this is my favorite of Mendelssohn's work.

Did you play at the Avery Fisher Career Grants ceremony?
Didn't think so.
Don't think your comments make you sound intelligible. This is youtube and no one cares what you have to say.
