Depends on what you are looking for and who is voting. As far as vocal capability and stage presence are concerned, I agree - and had I been a voting person I probably would have voted for him. But remember, the public selects the winner and apparently there was something about Kris Allen that struck a resonating chord. So there you are.

The fact that Adam is gay and Kris is a Christian has nothing to do with their singing abilities. Adam is an entertaining rocker and screamer. Kris has a wider audience appeal as his voice is country/blues as well as contemporary/pop.

Zylan is right. Singing really high is not screaming. You might not like it, which is completely fine, but it's NOT screaming. Adam has perfect pitch. Kris has often been pitchy, but if you like the tone of his voice, you like the tone of his voice. He doesn't have much range, but definitely makes the most of it.
