Before you start strapping weight to your waist to make it look like you're incredibly strong, you should learn to do a single leg squat without having to hold onto something for assistance. The point of the exercise is to improve balance and stability, not incredible strength. This is awful....
@ptrainer13 Mike is 67 so balance and stability is not his strong point. He used to do these on a box but it disappeared from the gym. He can't do these on the floor because he doesn't have the flexibility to do so.
He's holding the hand grips only for balance and doesn't use them to pull himself up.
@dlaw70 the fact that he is 67 and has poor flexibility and stability is the exact reason why he should not be doing heavy loads on single leg. He should be working on improving range of motion and stability, especially at 67. The heavier he goes with strength training with little to no flexibility, the higher the risk of injury becomes. Just my opinion. He does have great strength though.
@ptrainer13 Mike takes BodyFlow (Les Mills) at the gym once a week for flexibility but even when he was young, he wasn't real flexible. His stability is good but the flexibility overrides it in this exercise.
thats wierd ... do you use your arm to lift ?
