  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)

  • @boddokito You're welcome!

  • I've been making this for 20+ years - 1 cup Mayo, Juice from 1 large lemon, Blend smooth, taste of mayo should no longer be dominant but instead lemony, add small amount of milk to smooth to desired consistency, small amount of non-vinegar hot sauce for color (Tapatio or cholula). Thats it - fish taco secret sauce - firehouse smash hit. No yogurt needed. Beer batter the fish for the ultimate combo, Corn or flour tortilla, fish, secret sauce, shredded cabbage and squeeze of lime.

  • ditto all i too am into grilling fish for tacos. They were always good, but missing something. THIS WAS IT! This is awesome and easy! Thanks for putting in on!

It's one of the secret things in it, but it's really good! But good job!

  • Love it!!!! Hell yea! we gunna rock this shyyt!!!

  • can i use this sauce as a salad dressing?

  • @sherwin76502 I don't think it would taste very good as a salad dressing, but you can try it!

  • @ChefTips oh ok. haha! actually, i tried it as a salad dressing minus the yoghurt. and i used calamansi juice instead of lime juice. my sister actually liked it a lot. thanks for this video chef! :)

  • SLURP!!!!

  • Going to try it!!!

  • Enjoy!

  • @lirdoss

It can be done! You may have to get creative. I was very fortunate. I was at good paying job that I hated in the 90's. They had a rash of layoffs and I was able to take a great early-retirement package. This helped to pay for my culinary school, and my bills while I went to the year long, five day a-week, 8 hours a day school.

  • u r so cool u know i wanna be a chef some day and cok pro but that will take a vry long time

  • asco tio, para empezar los fish tacos no son de california son originarios de Ensenada Mexico;y dicha white sauce no existe ese es un invento de ustedes los gringos.los originales tacos de pescado llevan simplemente mayonesa.

  • Thanx Chef Jason. But I generally hate cabbage, can I use lettuce instead?

  • Hi there! Cabbage is the authentic ingredient, but you can certainly use lettuce instead. I hope you enjoy it.

  • OMG FISH TACOS!!!!!!!!! soooooo hungry! Great video by the way!

  • Thanks! Try out the recipe. I hope you like it! Jason

  • yummm lad

  • Haha, you're voice cracked epicly at the very beginning.

  • I love fish tacos. I just finished eating some...sooooo good.

  • Great! Did you use our recipe?

  • mmm great I was trying to find a different sauce for my fish taco- I just squeezed lime on it but it needed a little more- (I used hot sauce) But I'm trying this next time. Thanks for the video!

  • Wait just a second, please!! As I recall, I was hanging out with some college buddies down in San Felipe, Baja Ca, during Spring Break ...oh, about 30 yrs ago. We closed Bar Miramar around 3AM, fell down the wooden stairs to the un-paved street below, stumbled on this little taco shop a couple doors down. He was open and introduced the "Fish Taco" ... and original white sauce. The recipe went on to open "Rubio's" Fish Tacos...

  • I thought white sauce used cheese, but I don't even see a smegma of it.

  • This is a fish taco white sauce. There are other types of white sauces out there, including the basic Béchamel.

  • what's your favorite white sauce? ranch w/garlic, Alfredo, melted Cheeses

  • It all depends on what I am making to serve with the sauce. For fish, I like a butter sauce. You can check out my video titled "Butter Sauce" if you want a great sauce for your next fish dish!

  • ROFL!

    fish taco popular in Cali!

  • Gross!!!! Nasty!!!

  • why you don't like the ingredients?

alternative white sauces: Ranch and Alfredo sauce!

  • I've put Ranch on just about everything I've eaten it makes anything taste good.

  • I'd try a ranch. I haven't tried it on the fish yet, but it just tastes like mayo with hot sauce in it. :| Maybe less mayo?

  • We have actually been using this recipe for several weeks now as a sauce any time we grill talapia. We've found that you really want to let it chill in the fridge for quite a while. We make it the day before so that all the flavors have "mellowed" and it's not just mayo tasting.

  • why is that funny? All Mexican food is popular in Cali, and not just with Mexican people, with everyone. I don't see how that is funny. The rest of the states are finally starting to catch onto taco shops.

  • lol. fish taco+white sauce

    LMFAO

  • what ingredients for the fish taco marinade?? and can you use that marinade on ther meats?

  • See our other video titled Fish Taco Recipe. It will give you the marinade ingredients and preparation. Thanks!

  • This is the basic sauce I use, I also add a finely diced clove of garlic, and instead of chipotle, I use Tapatio, and a little paprika for a nice ochre color to it. Battered and deep fried is the best way to prepare the fish. Unhealthy, yes, but so good.

  • Your version sounds great. Tapatio is a really good sauce and is priced right.

  • Tapatio ftw!

  • fish tacos, sounds gross... but ill bet it tastes awesome!

  • They do taste great if made right.

  • I was referring to this vid when you put the taco together. Anyway , I was looking for a good sauce and I'm going to try yours out thanks

San Felipe fish tacos are deep fried in a wok with oil older than the hills. I think they use talipia out of the sea of Cortez which give them a distinct flavor. You should take a drive down there. It's about 3 hours south of Calexico. Nice place to visit in the fall.

  • Oh yeah, we used that assembly shot for the end of this video.

I had a chance to go down to San Filpe years ago and couldn't make it. Those DEEP FRIED tacos sound damn good! Thanks for the fall tip!

  • What happened to the cilantro? Can't have a fish taco without cilantro Mr. Chef

  • At the end of my Fish Taco Recipe video I mention topping the tacos with fresh cilantro if one prefers. I have never seen the cilantro in the white sauce. Is that how they do it in San Felipe?

  • Can I sustitute yogurt with sour cream?

  • Sure. The plain yogurt has a bit more tang to it than sour cream. It won't be the same, but it will still be good. Let us know how it turns out!

    Cheers.

  • The perfect fish taco sauce - so easy - it rocks!

  • Thanks tmltj! I am glad it worked for you. I recommend a bottle of Pete's Strawberryblonde Ale with these tacos! :)

  • lime juice and yogurt won't go bad? I mean, won't the juice turn the yogurt into curd?

  • Nooooo it won't turn it to curd! :-) This will keep in your refrigerator for a week.

  • It seems almost too simple to be tasty.. I am going to have to try this out

  • Thanks! Let us know...

  • you're great.

    i subscribed :]

    thankyou for all the help

  • Hey, thanks for the nice comment!

  • no problem ! :]

  • hi jason...

does the yogurt have to be of some special flavor? thanks

  • hello, plain is recommended..
