How is it that this has never been used as the music for part of an action movie? Say, a fight scene or car chase.
I have this on tape, but not digital. Haven't heard it in ages. Thanks!
@hutchinson: musical self-reference is not a bad thing. Weaving a recognizable melody into another piece is sort of an inside joke. Jazz musicians do it all the time. And you can find Steve Howe, for example, putting a bit of the "Close the Edge" theme in "Tales from Topographic Oceans."
More like Fripp and Summers, two west country lads communicating in strange-sounding english, whipping up some masterful guit FX far too early to be generally acceptable. Delicious, hilarious fun! Thanks wksufreshair! rotter:)
What can I say ? Sonicdeath 10 write exactly what I had in mind since I discovered that clip. The rest of the album, which I bought on vinyl a few months ago, is not as entertaining, but still very interesting.
By the way, what Summers does here is pretty awesome too: the rhythm work is rock solid and if you're a guitar player, the chords he's playing aren't exactly easy to play. Some very strange formations. His solo is cool in a more "rock and roll" way but it playfully contrasts with Fripp's work. I just ordered the 2007 re-release of this album. Hoping it's as good as this!
Why is it that at any given point Fripp will be the most uncomfortable out of place looking person in any room or situation? He looks like a deer in the headlights in this video and almost always does in any other situation. Just the look in his face or something.
Perfect

Fripp invited Sommers to play on this album strictly in order to upstage his technical ability.
It was his reactionary impulse to the popular success of The Police.

Hard to believe Andy Summers is almost 70 yrs old. He looks 25 yrs younger.

@bucky468 That's because this video was shot 25 years ago.

@guitarslim56 No he looks like he's in his late 20's/early 30's in this video.

Greta musicians, great music, awesome solos and quite a silly video but of course we'll forgive them!

Great tune, but an embarrassingly silly video. It would be better set to scenes from Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" or something like that.

When Robert Fripp stands up to play, the universe collapses within itself.
