To accurately compare them, you need to compare their releases by year. For example, you can't compare the Aces High (from 84) with Living After Midnight (from 80). Music evolves, so newer hits will be a bit heavier than older hits.

Both of these bands are heavy metal icons. They both have two front men with IMO, the most recognizable voices in Heavy Metal history and we can thank them for paving the way back in 70's & 80's and making, for metal fans, timeless music for us to enjoy and play loud.
Now to answer the question....IMO, Iron Maiden are the metal kings and we can all thank Black Sabbath for that !!!!! Because SABBATH are the original creators of Metal.

I like both band but it´s true... Maiden is the best band ever and absoltly better than Priest, BUT Priest great too, but:

judas started in 1974 with rockarolla (not heavy metal) and Harris project started in 1972 so that is imposible.
The real influences on Maiden were Deep Purple, Sabbath, UFO, Jethro Tull, Rainbow and other incredible bands, not judas.

OK you fucking retards, don't even come and try to talk shit about Metallica, It doesn't matter what they are like now, METAL IS NOT WHAT IT WAS, in the 80's it was huge thats when Metallica shined, Maiden and Priest had more talent then metallica, unless you counted Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine, Master of Puppets AND Ride the Lightning shit on any Maiden or Priest album, no matter how godly Dickinson and Halford are.

To accurately compare them, you need to compare their releases by year. For example, you can't compare the Aces High (from 84) with Living After Midnight (from 80). Music evolves, so newer hits will be a bit heavier than older hits.
I see Maiden fanboys compare The Trooper with You Got Another Thing Comin' just because they are afraid any of the other songs are harder than their precious Maiden. Problem is, fanboys of either side take the fun out of listening to classic metal in its finest.

I'm 29, and I like both bands. I have seen both bands in concert, including Maiden at Rock In Rio back in 2000 when I was studying in Brazil (I was a graduate student then). If I was a fanboy, I wouldn't have paid to see them. All I said was "you need to compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges."

not HEAVY Metal, Iron Maiden are an amazing band, but Judas Priest have been heavier over the years since lets say Screaming for Vengeance, Iron Maiden never did anything as heavy as Pinkiller or Jugulator, thats the truth, but both these bands are Gods, if you dont like one you cant like the other
and in the beggining Judas Priest was rock, good rock, and if you dont like rock than youre close minded
