I first found out about this game in 1998 but I've never played it until two days ago. I just finished it last night.Definitely worth it even after 14 years!
Epic story, epic atmosphere, excellent voice overs (for its time) but some of the worst illogical and random puzzles ever. The scene involving the tomb is by far one of the worst puzzles I've ever solved. I remember solving it as a kid and just being blown away at the stupidity. The turtle-bomb is also somewhat out of nowhere too.
@hungsolow123 I got both of those without a guide. What stumped me for AGES was building the light bridges. I never figured you had to hold the switch down to make them go. Gnagh!
How true! We are a young race. We have so much to learn. Why do we fight so much among ourselves. Why would any foreign species want to contact us being the way we are? This ending just goes to show that everyone has the ability to distinguish what is right and wrong, regardless of background. If only we could stop trying to separate something that should be left as one. That being the human race.
did anyone notice that Steve Blum is the voice of BOTH Brink AND the king of these aliens?and everyone thought he started in Cowboy Bebop, this guy sure has been around longer than I thought...
They should have had Maggie die a little earlier on in the game to increase to emotional impact and feeling of isolation. I felt like they brought her back a little too soon. Anyway, amazing game through and through. I beat it months ago and still frequently think back at it. The whole game was filled with so much atmosphere.
@theblackbull55 There was a novel that came out along with this game, and I guess he explains that it's the price he had to pay for using too many life crystals. I remember the aliens explaining that he just looks older but will still live a healthy life or something. I remember being really grossed out when I saw him the first time.
@FinalGamerJames It's a shame that companies decided to stop making adventure games, and instead go for the safe sellers like first person shooters. When's the last time anyone's heard of someone getting teared up at the ending of an FPS?
You know I think that this game is like a very well done choose your own adventure movie, good animation, deep story, addictive, I may have only been 3 when this came out, when my dad got his 95, i remeber the game demo disk that had a teaser for this and I wanted to play it soooo bad
My god, I loved this game. I remember begging my dad to swap out our nightly story time for gameplay time, instead. 30 minutes a night for weeks, one puzzle at a time, until we finally beat it. I agree with what who is it, MasterNinjaScarab, said--Dig captured a sense of wonder that seems to be increasingly lost. I miss that sense of joy and discovery in computer games.
This was the most epic game I played as a kid - I just replayed it last night from start to finish - still just as awesome. Deep and engaging, they simply do not make games like this anymore. A full 5/5 from me.
Totally agree... That was a game i got into from start to end, the music, the atmosphere, everyhing was perfect... I remember playing it back in 96, every new door i opened , every new area i was exploring, gave me a feeling i cannot describe.. You right, they dont make games like this any more...
He's still hunched over which leads me to believe he's still old; I think it was more of the lighting outside, and maybe a coloring error by the artists.
Ermm, I read somewhere sometime ago that the original script was to make a movie, but at the time, to get it perfectly done, was quite a challange and expensive, then decided not to discart the original story and make a game of it.
I don't know, I don't trust rumors too much, but in this case it really made sense when I knew about.
So, if anyone knows or finds anything abaout it, it'd be great!
I heard, though I'm not sure, that the upcoming project by spielberg titled "Interstellar" is based on this videogame... I hope thats not false because that would be a dream come true.
he kept on using the life crystals so most of his life energy had been drained. When he was dead he want to space time 6. The alien brought him back and the affects of the crystals is apparent.
Just search for torrents (i use Utorrent) and you should find it. Comes with audio too. Its illegal yeah but who cares, if there were actually places where I could BUY the game I would, but its impossible to find.
Thank you /so much/ for uploading this. This was one of my favorite games long ago... and I recently tried to complete it again only to find that my game was somehow bugged to where I was unable to do what I needed to do in the Map Room. :< I'd totally forgotten what the good ending was like... So thank you! Thank youuuu. :D :D
You guys this is awesome!! Its not a Chocobo it's not Final Phantasy! I heard they wanted to make this game a movie but instead settled for a game. sn - VHDT10
the only time i played this was the demo that came with Dark Forces. That ending was amazing and possibly the best ending to a video game ever, because it was actually SATISFYING.
I don't really get it though, did the Chocobo bring Maggie from an alternate-timeline, because in order to get this, didn't you have to use the crystals on Maggie?
oh, dear Terestrasz, you didn't have to use the allmighty cristals in order to revive Maggie, cause she begged you not to do it!! If you did so, then the game would reward you with this good ending, but if you didn't, oh man, great disgraces would come into your computer and your mental status!!

Poor Brink; during the adventure he dies twice, becomes a life crystal junkie, has his hand saw off and in the end turns into an old man :/

this is one the most imagineative games ive ever played.
it would also have been cool if it would have been made into a movie.
but they could still do that: by using the audio from this game and make new animation to it and cut it together as a whole film. that could be cool.

paparas2000 4 years ago
Yeah, notice how thorough the sprite movements are...why do people think sprite-based games have "Bad graphics"?
Terestrasz 4 years ago
Other graphics technology before 10 years and other today.
The resolution before 10 years was 800x600 the bigest one of that time so they make any game with that solution.
But i dont care for solution, i care only for a good game with a good sreenplay.
