Weed wacker scooters and bicycles are ALOT of fun to build, too bad that there's not alot of literature about them! I saw an ad for motorizing a push scooter in Boy's Life magazine back in the 1990s. Has anyone else seen this ad, or know the company that did the plans?

that is not homemade scooter. if you stop and pause the video at around 0:22 or 0:23 you ca see that it is a goped know-ped push scooter. maybe you mean it has a homemade engine mount , beacuse the scooter is a goped know-ped with some weedwacker engine on it

HELP...if some one can help i have a 49cc scooter.ok i replaced the head, piston,and rings,spark plug too.running good starts in 1 or 2 pulls.still running good ride for 2 or 3 min dies when it gets hot still has spark getting gas.but will not start in till ti gos back to room temp.H.E.L.P........

does it have a head gasket if not when it heats up it would expand and let in air in to the cylinder causing it to die>>>?

could it be the spark plug? sometimes the engines spark plug is too hot or too cold.  If it is too hot the engine will die and same if it is too cold. Try a spark plug that is 7 heat. hope this helps =)

if you want to go faster. use a bigger wheel or a smaller spindle. like the other guy said i probably is running a too low gear ratio(i realize its a spindle drive, spindle/tire are like gears) a bigger wheel will relive stress on the engine, letting it go faster

It has a 31cc Toro engine which has plenty of power but it only goes 5-8mph mostly due to the small spindle which also slips.

plz tell me how you put a chain or what ever it is propelling the scooter on the weed trimmer engine.

The engine shaft simply rubs on the scooter wheel. We discovered that some early commercial motorized scooters worked this way and throught it was worth a try. It works better than we thought it would.
