  • look at meg!!! 1:47-1:56 what does she doing with her hair? it´s sympathetic . thats why i like them and of course they music!!!!!! it´s famous!!!!!

  • Zero dislikes. It better fuckin stay that way.

  • this might sound crazy but what's the song jack plays at the beginning of the vid?

  • @mlbwwetropicthunder it's "St James Infirmary Blues" a very old blues song

  • there are not many living legends these days BUT, Jack white is

  • the first 15 seconds put a smile on my face :]

  • there over... :(

does anyone know where i can get the from the basement concert?

  • The White Stripes (1997-2011)

    I'm sad as I can be :(

  • Between the grainy footage and the purity of the music they're playing, you'd think this would be filmed in the late '60s, early '70s.

  • sometimes i wonder if hes talking about me in these songs

  • my least favorite of jack's styles.....but still one of the best living musicians

  • Damn, Jack White is the best. Period.

  • @JoeyRamone129 i cant choose if i like jimmy page or jack white more,so i just THEYRE my favorite

  • I love it Love it Love it much love

  • anybody know where you might find a hat like that?

  • A possessed performance. When I saw this on IFC originally, it blew my mind.

  • 0:14 JOHNNY DEPP! :D

  • @Coxailkopf 1:55 V for Vendetta!

  • @Coxailkopf 1:55 Vfor vendetta

  • @fastmclaren71 :DDD a little bit..

  • This song kick ass,.... I love "Get Behind me Satan", it just takes the White Stripes to a whole new level

  • Is this the song they performed before Red Rain?

cus i thought for a sec he was playing My Doorbell

and how come we're not taking White Blood Cells into consideration?

It not only had Fell In Love With A Girl and We're Going To Be Friends, but Hotel Yorba and Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground!!!

but even then its hard to choose a fav, they are all damn good

  • Great!

  • wow.

  • They're all great, but I'll put my vote down for Elephant.

  • Get Behind Me Satan might be my personal fav .. but I liked their self titled album a lot, and Elephant ... yeah you should just get them all ... all brilliant.

  • can you buy this on video or DVD?

  • @Galby82 - yep...but its not just White Stripes...its loads of bands.

    its called "From The Basement"

  • plain and simple, if you are debating which white stripes album to get the answer is ALL OF THEM! there is no definitive white stripes album, they are all amazing... though uncut magazine did name white blood cells the number one album of the 21st century so far and jack white as the man of the decade...

  • 100% correct I couldnt have said It better Kudus kirkyraucous!

  • yeah i say you buy them in the order they came out as well and then get thee behind me satan would really seem like a masterpiece to you

  • amazing, criative and heterogenous: there aren't 2 complete similar albums

  • @kirkyraucous Or just get every single album and every single song including b sides like me.

  • @kirkyraucous Get behind me Satan is my favorite but perhaps because it was my first

  • @TinF00L same here. all the songs are awesome!

  • Hey, this video is 3:33

    coincidence?...

  • Elephant>GBMS.

It's just facts. GBMS isn't bad by a long shot, but Elephant is just genius through and through. It's Jack and Meg at their prime.

Of course, I'd take De Stijl over any of them... but you only asked about those two :P

  • I agree! Elephant is their best album.

  • Jacks voice sounds really good :)

    Great song

  • Oh, god, that random snippet of St. James Infirmary Blues gave me shivers!! It's my favorite, even if it is a cover.

  • im debating which album to get...this one or elephant.please comment your opinion

    -thanks.

  • Both are classics, but Get Behind Me Satan is probably in my top 5 favorite albums all time.

  • Comment removed

  • Both..or Both...or Both.

  • elephant dude.... got that album and then get behinf me satan... elephant brake the line, and get behind keep doin it...

  • @310guitars

Get Elephant. It's much more TWS-style, like we're used to. :D GBMS isn't bad, but Elephant is better, big time.

  • I adore this song. Fits my situation right now. In love with someone but seeing it not going any further, and it really does feel like I blew it.

  • Meg looks so adorable when she's singing along :)

  • Fantastic, it makes me cry.

  • Yeah Get Behind Me Satan was definitely different. The first week I had it, i was unsure, but then it grew on me a few weeks later and I didn't stop listening to it for monthes. It's definitley on of my fav albums. All of the Stripes albums have there own personality. hard to pick a fav.

  • love it!

  • y did he grow his hair! he used to look awesome

  • this was during "Get Behind me Satan" time. He went back to his old looks during "Icky Thump"

  • Their best song from their best album.

  • as if there were like 4 good songs from get behind me satin

i think elephant is way better

even though this is one of my fav songs

  • I count 9 great songs.

  • Nah man, Get Behind Me Satan was just different, I think it has Jack's best overall writing. And that album really grew on me.

  • Totally agree, it's their most experimental album, the most sad as well... But really brilliant!

  • Why is this on longer available?

  • THIS is real music.... from the heart.... love it.

  • i admire jack, he's so talented and a warm guy, nad i love megan, she's so cute, she looks so hot when she palys the drums and so fragil when she's out of the stage, they have a special relationship, they really love each other, i can see that when one of them sees the other, i love their music, they're best

  • yeah, i agree, they have a really deep connection, they have a special relationship. they love each other, not romantically, but definitely more than just real siblings which they aren't. sweet stuff when they smile to each other

(sorry for the corny emotional comment XD)

  • @euryswesson They're not siblings, they were previously married to one another.

  • @saltycurtdawg5 and..... jack took meg's last name, white

  • i luv meg's lil' baby face...shes a badass

  • great!!

  • Orrrr maybe not, got a closer look and it doesn't look like that. No idea what it is

  • they are bells, watch the video of red rain.

  • Its a kids toy. Lol I didn't recognize it at first but its one of those bell piano things with the frog heads or could be peoples heads and they open up when you press down a key on the piano. Kids toy from the 70's, 80's, they may still make them. I had one as a kid.

  • Last message was meant as a reply to what is that thing to the left of Meg

  • yes it is, im not quite sure what it is but they are bells

if you watch red rain live from KRCW she uses them at the end

    :DDDD

    i LOVE The White Stripes!!!!

    ;)

  • Smart song, brilliant performance.

  • thank ya for this vid

  • what a great tune that is!

  • but the song IS uptempo

  • I agree. However, personally I think I would dig it more if it was played as a downtempo piano ballad.

  • The first 50 seconds are great. Wish he would have kept that pace for the whole song.

  • I love this song so much, and I love the lyrics

  • This whole performance is just amazing. It's music at it's purist. At like 2 mins on, you can't do anything but just feel the music.

  • I miss this jack white...

  • me too!that album and that jack were the best!dont think he is coming back tho...he seems too happy now!

  • :-(

Brooding and depressed musicians make for the best music.

  • no offense but jack seems awful twitchy in this performance...is something bothering him? o well...i stil luv this song and them both

  • When is something not bothering him?

  • He's always twitchy! XD He's a bit of an eccentric he always seems nervous :P

  • imagine him in high-school...haha...and listen to his first 2 albums...hell tell you everything about jack

  • ...you know, I'm ashamed to admit this, but I doubt I'm the only one here.... whenever they go to the shot with Meg over Jack's shoulder... I become hypnotized by the movements of her bosom...

  • hahahahahahaha

  • legless everfy time.

  • this is in my top 5 of their best songs

  • What is this? Where did it come from? Why don't I know about this? This is the greatest concert/practice series thingy I've ever seen in my life! Jack is cooler than Fonzie. Meg is the best too!

  • yeh, its great. If ur in the US, like me, then i think u can only get it on RAVE HD with iO or maybe another channel with Fios or something.

  • o yeh, and its called "From The Basement"

  • "cooler than Fonzie" Right on, that says it.

  • I've wanted to see this set for so long!

    Thanks for posting it

  • whats the music playing at the very beginning of the video?

  • That's "St. James Infirmary Blues" off their self-titled debut album.

    Pretty sweet, huh?

  • haha yess i love how he whistles along to it at the beginning.

  • he's so cool

  • it seems like hes singing this about meg...they were husband and wife at one point. meg seems rly into the song too.

    just a thought

  • I was watching this today after I just found it here. I started watching Meg, she's my new fancy. I watch to see her reaction to Jacks emotions, watch this through a few times, she sings along with it (2:42-2:48) Sent the chills up me, and a shiver of regret in my heart.

  • ooooo hes a philosophiser

  • i found this video on wendsday and iv watched it everyday sence

  • He is a great talent.

  • GBMS songs are so woefully underrated....

  • seconded it's a great album and is Meg's best performance.

  • @JackWhiteTheFourth Right? Especially The Nurse.

  • @JackWhiteTheFourth maybe they just sound better live!

  • this... is... amazing

  • did you mean for this to be 3:33

  • This is such a sad song. Well performed, but sad.

  • SO LETS DO IT!!!!!!! =)

    love that jack white

  • This is how they should always play live. Jack seems to enjoy changing his melodies around, but he sang really passionately here without ruining the song. Excellent!

  • damn good stuff

  • i like how he sings in this one

  • Great lyrics:D

  • i love how meg sings along silently with song.

    awesome performance.

  • Never seen this live, but what a great first time. amazing.

  • YES

  • this looks like the drumming to hotel yorba! i luv them!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm hooked.

  • 11 means World War 2,The Jacket was probably a gift from The Freemasons of North Queensland. Australia entered World War II shortly after the invasion of Poland, Jack is half polish and Scottish. He has a connection to The Scottish Rite.

  • 11 N.Q means Freemasons of North Queensland.
