The comment may not be racist, but it serves to exploit differences in the democratic electorate as to make the claim to superdelegates that Americans are too racist to vote for a Black president. I'm convinced that an Obama/McCain matchup is the ultimate test of America's racial progress. Are Americans willing to overlook racial prejudices in light of their financial well-being, or will they bite the bullet of continued Bush policies (e.g. high gas prices) to keep a black man out of office?

It's not a matter of whether or not the words were in fact Clinton's. It is her decision to willfully highlight those words on the public stage. As I firmly believe Clinton is a smart woman, she is fully aware how damaging and divisive such words can be for the democratic party. There are other, more effective ways for her to attract voters without resorting to racial politics. After all, Obama has been very successful w/o negative campaign tactics and resorting to divisive measures.
