  • "Meal Ready to Eat" - MRE . The military has been using these for a very long time. Put the heater contents in 20oz bottle and there is a very loud boom.

  • hmmm I just was wondering , how do you dispose of the packaging after use, is it hazardous waste, surely it cant be green friendly.

  • what a waste of resources 4 a couple of mouthfuls of food.

  • But how much does it cost?

  • Gotta give it to china, i got a Dildo with 2 usb 3.0 slots a HDD When i was in hong kong. It even updates my Myspace mood to happy when i use it. And they say japan has the best technology.

  • @platnumslayer7 Japan does have best tech

  • no way. thats awesome.

For more videos like this and a strong community of great minds, visit ThinkStageDOTcom

  • I would love to see the 'mystery chemical' in this

  • But will it blend ??

  • cool...

  • This is not a new technology it's been around for over a century the self heating can was invented in 1897.

The heater is a mixture of water and quicklime that produces an exothermic reaction.

You could buy a commercial product very much like this under the name Heater Meals in the US which has been marketed since 1990.

  • They've been selling these types of self-heating meals in truck stops for several years now.

  • her face so annoying that i really feel of kicking her mouth! darn stoopid..now what, another plastic food? no wonder the chinks eyes are shutting down!

  • they should send these to troops, they probably taste better than MRE's

oh and that girls cute too :)

  • its not something you wanna take to usa they will think its a bomb

  • I like her voice!

  • THis is not new, type google, MRE- military have had a self heating food element since way back when, ? 70's or earlier ? common, so this one is nice looking, >.>

  • Chinese are awesome

  • I have had self heating cocoa and coffee in AMERICA...Not a new devolopment.

  • @woobie171 : what makes it new is the fact that it's a commercial product......... don't think we've seen self-heating lunch boxes in the US have we?

  • they just discovred the self heating meal, soon the savant will discover that this meal excite cancer, i can be sure of this :) anyway the reporter is just like the chinese food, sweet and funny.

  • chicken looks like dog food

  • This is a health hazard! BPA (Bisphenol A) and phtalates can leach into food even at room temperature. Many canned goods are lined with plastic now. Studies have shown that heating or cooling food or drinks contained in plastic produces dioxins that end up inside us. We should not be ingesting these toxic chemicals! Some animal studies report effects in fetuses and newborns exposed to BPA.

  • @tcmsnailien in this case its not like u will eat this 3 times a day for the rest of ur life. its also a health hazard if u eat 2min noddles everyday.

  • This taste awful I can tell and I would say that 95% of you guys can eat in the US so called Chinese food is beyond the real taste as well...I'm Chinese and only if I go back to where I grow up I could eat the real food, like some place very small but origional. Same food, almost same spices, just taste way different! A real good Chinese chef will never cook it without exprience and heart. BTW, those sort of fast food could never be invented by Chinese cos they spend so much time on eating lol.

  • Mmmmm looks tasty

  • china did not invent this! lol. ever heard of U.S. Military MRE's??? yeah, we've been using this "technology" for years

  • just a reaction between quicklime and water

  • obviously a simple chemical reaction between quicklime and water.

    not very secret!

  • I just use the microwave.

  • hey WSJ, the report seems to show that your correspondent spent too much time in the office. Get more tanned. It's really really old technology that even Chinese would feel embarrassed to claim the invention. It's invented by Koreans during 2333BC.

  • china did not invent paper and this is one of the oldest inventions and not the chineese invent it they made it not invent it

  • This is nothing new, this technogy has been used by the U.S. Military for years in their MRE's.

  • NOT CHINA IT`S COMMON TAIWAN AND JAPAN

  • could be poisonous

  • @coldcyber probably..

cuz its made in china!! hahha

  • Chinese MRE? Wonder if it tastes better. lol

  • Comment removed

  • yea love that curry, even tho im chinese lolz

  • i bet it's the same stuff used in MRE heaters >.>

  • UNKOWN CHEMICALS HEATING MY FOOD?!

  • @Klayperson it doesnt go into the food, it goes under the tray into the water

  • @bobthekiller19396 Yes so you are telling everyone that the chemicals can only travel into the water? did you not see all the steam? you are telling me that steam couldn't come up onto your food? unless I knew what these chemicals were I would not eat it

  • China didn't make paper ancient egyptian's did china made paper PRINTING

  • The majority of historians don't consider Egyptian papyrus to be paper which by definition is a material made of cellulose pulp. Papyrus 'paper' is made from cut-up papyrus plant. Writing on Papyrus is considered the same as writing on tree bark or animal skin.

  • Papermaking is considered to be one of the Four Great Inventions of Ancient China the Egyptians Papyrus is a thick "Paper-Like" material.

  • The Four Great Chinese Inventions are: * The Compass[2] * Gunpowder[3] * Papermaking[4] * Printing[5]

let me add this is nothing new! The us army been using that method for years now.

    watch?v=j9Cf39kuNXY

the unknown chemical is probably salt water like in that vid

  • THIS = GIVING TERRORIST IDEAS :)

  • @djyellab0y

is that all thats in ur mind?

fill ur brain with something useful instead of that empty air in ur brain that is there right now.

  • could the little heating pouch thing have the same chemicals that are in the hand warmers that u take out of the package and they get warm?

  • I thought she said "I'm Sky Cannabis"

  • its gonna explode.O.O

  • us had these long time ago. especially for soldiers

  • it isnt the heaters that make the food mediocre tasting. its the long shelf life required of such products that makes them bland and mushy for the most part.

  • what an alien

  • Whats Next "Self Eating Meal"?

  • where does she work at??

  • Lol, it is just not common in the society doesn't mean that it was new.......b/cos it doesn't need this stuff for an sophisticated society which this stuff....It commonly use in chinese millitary for their long train journey in wild place which takes time to make hot water...

  • I also STRONGLY dis-like her lol

  • @rinwhr the chicken is not fake dumbass

  • Basically an MRE...

  • did she die?

  • can the heating system for food be used again if not then it wiil create more waste and that we dont need another trowing junk everywhere.

  • wow lol

  • for some reason i strongly dislike her? =S

  • my invention is better....self eating meal

  • hahaha XD

  • This isn't "China's Latest Invention." This has been out for 1-2 years now. Also, China wasn't the first to use/create self heating meals, it was the IFT(Institute of Food Technologies) which is a U.S military based program. You're whole "Chinas Latest Invention" heading is therefor incorrect, negatively reflecting the professionalism on your journalism.

  • errrrmmmm this isnt the latest....i had these in Biejing when i was a kid...self heating lunches....

  • newsbykko, I was about to say the same thing.... but yeah... MREs have been around for a while. This isn't anything new.

  • After all that, we wait in anticipation of how the food is going to taste, she says, "Not bad"!! Now that is good journalism.

  • i thought thats a US army invention

  • Okay..? Half of that didn't make sense, wtf kind of english do you speak? And what sort of fucking insult is "... smart arse like you grease-ball"? I mean really, if your going to attempt to insult me, I suggest you start using big-boy words

  • Hate to break it to you buddy, but that's known as a "Chemical Reaction".

  • Stupid story. Do some reserch next time.

You can go to any army surplus store in the world and buy old US military MREs that are the same minus the Chinese food and the inevitable 1st degree burns.

  • What if i die eating it do will i get insurance from the noodle company.

  • too complex ? you people must be buffoons ! by the way she looks like she needs to eat about 5 more of those while she is at it.

  • amazing.

  • Looks like fun. I can get used to the steps after a while.

Some of the frozen foods I had to heat up in the microwave had steps also: slash protective top wrap over mashed potatoes, stir mid way, cool 1 to 2 minutes before removing from microwave.

The only reservation I have is that it looks kind of dangerous. It's one of those "don't hold over your face while opening" scenarios. I know MOST people won't, but you'll always have that small percentage that do....

  • tasty

  • awesome, but too complex.

  • Dito

  • Dito

  • dito

  • dito + this would never work in america?

why mess with the microwave when its so perfect as it is :)?

also, chemicals? hope theres not lead in it :|

  • dito

  • what if you were camping or some shit? and there was a fire ban~ duh~ geez

you should actuali do research why they made this.. its just design solution~
