  • saw one on the street a month back or so, this thing catches the eye for sure, beautful design. now if i can only ride one.. Even ghost rider likes this machine

  • @mr223wssm, heavy yeah. slow? i dont think so. do you have one? or at least experienced driving a vmax? slow? dont be an ignorant critic. they dont call it the widower for nothing.

  • To bad it's heavy and slow

  • i hate burnouts

  • yea yea we know it catch up to a plane taken off

  • Hey its joe pena from mysteryguitarman

  • le bonjour de cannesmotoservices preparateur vmax

    marc

  • This Bike is not good for us guys with small driving skills and speed limits in USA.

Who cant drive a Toyota, cant even drive a Vmax.

  • @Zimmermann310 congratulations at being a bigoted jackass. Sounds like you have some serious penis envy.

  • Exhaust really needs to be changed

  • @hemmipalmroos

Yea stupid US boy plus cup holders for you

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds nice looks like ass. :(

  • what a wicked machine.

  • man,this is it !!!

  • is so good as this smoke smell?

  • the older ones are better looking

  • THE ALL NEW STAR VMAX!!!!!......crickets.....

  • RIDE IT!!

  • Pry a flop like the 09 R1.. P.O.S.

  • i love this machine

  • UGLY

  • "this things bitchin" what are we back in the 80s

  • this machine is awesome. Great acceleration. But also its not the best, im very desapointed, you knew the New Yamaha V-MAX 1700cc 2009, is limited to a Top Speed of 220 km/h? Thats not fair!!!!!!!!!!! Come on, you wouldnt be able to unleash the true power of this monster bike, i have gone faste on my 95' Honda Magna 750cc, my record is 240 km/h. Any way, i hope some day some one post a video, without the speed limiter, to know this bikes, TRUE POWER!

  • how much with a liter of gas??

  • i want to drive this one.....wonderfull

  • oh my god, look at da fuckin pipes on the side, by handle bars, DAYUM

  • Anyone who know's shit about bikes would know that this isn't somthing you could shake off on your little 600 Gsx-r

  • its just a straightline torque monster. throw it even a slight curve in the road and lets see what happens..

  • well, there are vids here that show the vmax going through curves aplenty. I'm I missing something? was it cgi trickery??

  • considering it was built for the dragstrip and inspired by american muscle cars it handles pretty damn good

  • whats wrong with this bike??

  • it's a vmax..

  • so?

  • ugly??! that thing looks soo mean!

  • ya la vi pero no me gusto.megustaba mas esa latosa tragona pesada pero musculosa y adrenalinica version anterior

  • i have a 2001 vmax carbin fiber body and is a very fast bike but im also have a 1250 s bandit whit abs and is very fast confy bike for long rides 19k for max is waaay to much, would buy a bking and have money for one more bike, make no sense, this is a bike for old short diks retired mid life crisis guy's, wont ride it

  • beware the 20K service will cost you your house!!!!

  • YES that is for sure! Yamaha is trying in vain to capture the harley crowd by making these things. They also have huge maintenence expenses to keep it going. No more weekend mechanics are going to work on this thing. Its a computer control nightmare much like their R1 when they combined fuel injection and slide carbs. Good plan to keep the bike in the shop. Buyer be ware !!!!!! The cheapest part of this bike is the initial purchase. Pick a different brand if you want a reliable decent bike.

  • dUTCH ISN'T gERMAN... It'S dUTcH. fRENCH ISnT SPANiSH... ITS fREnCH... CATS ARENT DOGS... THEYRE CATS... FLIES AREENT BUTTERFLYS... THEYRE FLIES... ATOMS AREN'T PROTONS... THEYRE ATOMS..... CORN ISNT CLORN FLAKES..... ITS CORN.... VW's ARENT PORSCHES... THEYRE VW's.... WATER ISNT STEAM..... ITS WATER.... yOU'RE SOOO VERY SMART LOLZORDJE FOR STATING THE OBVIOUS, JERKWAD!!!

  • What?! The VMax didn't smash everything else back in the day. The Suzuki 1100 could beat it in the quarter, buts that's a bike in a different class. Lookie goofball, if ya want to compare other bikes to the racer type, Busa, then look at other racers, like the Yam. R1. You suggest they use new technology like the Busas old 4piston calipers? LMAO! You're just an old VMAX fan that's pissed cause he can't afford the new 1, it's so obvious. So just stop slamming what you actually admire. Bib 4drool?

  • hou gewoon ff je kankerbek, want dit gaat natuurlijk weer nergens over. nou je bek digt. Dank u

  • You ist velcome.

  • lol you so didnt understand it

  • i understand you are der esel schwans.

  • i understand german as well dumbass dus jie bin gewoan een viezn vuiln ranzaep. thats in a dialect so you wont be able to translate it.

  • my mommy was born and raised in Germany. im sure i can find out if i wanted to but you dont interest me. you are boring, so i wont bother.

  • to bad that sentence isnt german. its a dutch dialect. so once and for all for your non developed brain. dutch isnt german, its dutch

  • gibberish is gibberish. If it isn't English it is gibberish. Writing anything else but English means as much as if a cat walked across the keyboard. I'm sure many Dutch are interested in this new piece of shit bike.

  • Correction, it's classified as a standard. Busas aren't standards. Not even in the same class, why you so hell bent on comparing them?

  • Lets explain it to you this way, when the original came out it smashed everything out there sportbike and all. This new version doesn't by any means so to defend it all you can do is put it in a class of its own to protect it? Come on you goofball, other bikes kick its ass and its that expensive? It should be kicking everythings ass including the Busa. No reason whatsoever, the technology is there. This bike is a complete let down at an expensive price. Have fun making excuses for it.

  • Why is it you have to class this bike in order for it to beat something in a race. Isn't a bike 2 wheels and handlebars? Now we class them in order for them to be on top of anything? Now everything from bikes nearly half the cc can kick its fat ass. Yamaha went after a new crowd of idiots with this approach. Put a big price on it to reassure the esteem that not many will own 1, making you feel that much more important. Its all a game to sell to fools. Fools and their money are easily parted.

  • Lets think, it's not a lean forward racer. It's not a lean backwards chopper. It's definitely not a scooter or a mx bike. What else could it be? It's what all the magazines classify as a cruiser. You wanna make up your own classification, go ahead. And you're right about the Busa. A bike that much lighter with that much h.p. will win every time. Strip the Max down, install low handlebars make it a racer, like the Busa, and all of a sudden, competition exists. And you no longer have a cruiser.

  • Kawasaki went up against Yamahas' VMAX back in the day with their so called Terminator and got terminated. Mr. Max has been kicking cruiser butt for over 20 yrs. Now Suzuki comes out with their prematurely named B-King(here we go again, lol!) and got KO'd as well. Anyway, if ya want the best you usually have to pay extra for it like everything else #1. Settle for cheaper, lighter, #2 if ya want. Just don't cry when Max blows bye. Kenny Roberts owns a Max, would any1 argue with him? Think not.

  • You know some of your points sound logical, but just aren't true. Read what all the mags are saying when testing the two. Take your 700+ lb cruiser, and put it up against a 500lb naked Busa and your not going to win sorry. Thats why I posted against the max, its all wrong, shaft drive, 150lbs too heavy and the wrong size rubber to be a drag bike. Its not a cruiser either with a 5 speed and small fuel tank. So what the hell is it good for then? Impressing people that don't know any better?

  • Yamaha designers should be danglin from a rope for this one! Friggin idiots! Heavy as a pig, shaft drive AGAIN, too small of a fuel tank, wrong size tires, no inverted forks??!! Get the hell out of here with the price tag!

What the hell is Yamaha thinking to make such a pig with composites and titanium available? For that price it should be 175lbs lighter and have everything the B-King does and then some! I'd personally like to put my boot up the ass of who designed this bike!

  • bitchin'!

  • check the specs...this bike is overrated and very overpriced.

  • looks pretty fucking sweet to me

  • I've been into this bike since playing "Tourist Trophy." The VMax is a bad ass bike with plenty of American attitude. The exhaust of the VMax is probably not so bad ass, however. It's still a really cool bike.

  • this thing is bitching

  • the besttttt bikeeeeeeeeeee V MAXXXX

  • The new tunnel ram is functional.

  • Still has that fake tunnel ram.

  • no it's actually true ram air

  • ONE OTHER THING I HAVE OWNED 3- MAX"S 1-86 1-98 -1-2000

THERE HAS BENS SO with the fact that all the other ricers will turn up the heat and be king again what then ? just try too trade the bitch in you wont be able too yamaha fucked up and there timing is off ... by a mile should of done this ten years ago instead of flogging a sore dick that has ben getting it ass waxed for years get a life rice rocket riders oh yeah THE VIDEO IS HARDLY BITCHEN MORE LIKE BITCHES

  • i just got a 2000 v max and these bikes are ..... are..... i can't even think of a word. orgasmic. simply the best.

  • that guy is straight up. "this thing is bitching"

  • what an ugly Exhaust ...

  • the old ymax sounds MUCH better

  • Not gear driven cams. A chain is still the primary drive for the cams. Exhaust cam is driven by gear from inlet cam.

  • The V star 250 (aka Virago) is the best bike in this series. Half the cost, much better mileage, lower insurance, lower maintenance costs, and it goes fast enough for the interstate if you stay in the right-hand lane. If I want to go fast, I'll drive my car.

  • Have you ever ridden a big bike? You probably wouldn't want your car at all anymore. Even the entry-level Harley-Davidson Sportsters can accelerate roughly as fast as a Corvette. Besides, it's the handling that really makes bikes fun.

  • No, I never have. I'm intimidated by the power and weight...and cost. I'm old enough that high speeds are not a fascination to me anymore. I'm more into economy, simplicity, and especially good fuel economy. I understand many love those large bikes. My car is a Toyota Corolla, and I could afford any sports car, but opt instead for the same factors. VStar 250 is kind of analogous to the Corolla. I think of the Harley as analogous to a Mercedes Benz. Great bike, but not for me.

  • I see what you mean. I'm no speed freak either. I would never want a sportbike. I just like single cylinder and v-twin bikes. I've got a little Yamaha XT225, and it handles great. It's really fun to ride even though it doesn't go over 55mph very well. You're right, though, the weight of some big bikes is a bit ridiculous, and the power definitely scared me the first time I rode a fast one. Very dangerous until you learn to expect the power.

  • "Things Bitchin'" Who says that? TWICE?

  • who cares.

  • @zemon3 thats exactly what I thought. hahahahaha

  • I hope the redesign grows on me. Mechanically I'm sure it's superb.

Riding buddy has an aolder one and of course we swap off once in a while as a change of pace type thing. "I ride a 2005 FZ-1 and his is a 1999 Max" Both bikes pull strong, but of course the V-max has a ton more torque and makes it's power at a lot lower rpm's.

If the V-max had a 6th gear it would be perfect, but it's sweet just like it is. It doesn't have the top speed of the sport bikes, but stoplight to stoplight it's King.

  • Why you all dont understand, Yamaha has created a bike that stood for 23 years, the most authentic bad assed bike, now that they refined it, kicked it up, and you cant take that your bikes all look alike and the V-MAX STILL has a one of a kind look and is on top,

to bad that your suzhonkawbusa dosent have character or a solo identity, my 98 MAX still stands out in a croud and is very competitive + I still get comments at every outing, you all look the same-not my problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You sound like some old washwoman. CRY MORE.

  • not cryin just statin biatch, what do you ride? a vespa?

  • How can you state something when it's not true? You've been doing nothing but bitching, moaning, and crying (not complaning, just stating =)). I have no need for insults as you seem pretty good at insulting yourself. Also enjoy your 5 speed transmission, Even harley davidson uses a 6 speed transmission now that just goes to show you how far behind the v-max is.

  • First of all you panty waist, a quarter mile bike doesnt need a sixth speed, most quarter mile cars are 2 to 3 speeds, most quarter mile race bikes shure as hell dont have six speeds. most usa bikes didn thave to out source to a forgine company for horse power + I dont have to shift as much as you new harley riders complain about shifting to much.

Dont forget to add the extra weight for your tools to fix your rattle trap, as seen on pinks, when a new v rod raced a old suzuki gs.

  • Not reading to well, are you? I never said that I own a Harley Savidson. And the V-max is still going to used on the street, therefore it needs a 6 speed for refinement and high speed cruising. And If you think that having to shift less is acctually a good thing yout farther gone than I thought. Once again I have no need for insults as you do it to yourself just fine.

  • Forget it man, your hopelesss/helpless, just keep on ridin partner.

Yamaha has been thinking this bike over for more then ten years, with high paid "engeneers". I guess that you design ultra fast bad assesed bikes for a living.

Well in closing I hope it pays off and you make milllions!!!!!!

  • So according to you only Yamaha has high paid engineers working on their bikes and anyone who doesn't think that the V-max is the the best bike ever is hopeless. Brilliant man, just brilliant. And I'm not designing bikes or making millions but I have a thorough understanding of these machines and therefore my bikes always have a superlative combination of power and handling, indeed a far better power to weight ratio than the new V-max, and better handling than any V-max could ever achieve.

  • he is right.

  • you are right.

  • MotorcycleUSA sucks, your reviews are just full of flakey stuff like in this video. Almost nothing about the bikes themselves. Shallow and boring..

  • stock-pipes sound = fail

  • it would be grate if he blew his moter

  • learn how to spell and a motor is electric,

    a engine is liquid fuel?!

  • For fucks sake people, what the hell is wrong with you? How can you judge a bikes worth from the audio from a YouTube video? It's a degraded video rip from another site and on top of that I'm sure Yamaha didn't set around and have a board meeting about how the damned exhaust should be miked to sound the best on YouTube.

When your cruising down the highway and this 200HP bitch comes screaming past you are you gonna give a damn what the exhaust sounds like? No, your gonna go WTF was that thing?

  • that thing is hideous looking.

  • Crack kills, that bike is beautifull

  • Sounds really gay, like a hair dryer, neads a deep, growl.

  • totally agree with ya.. it needs the roar of a harley v-rod

  • v max was first and as slow as a v rod is it wouldnt matter what sound it made a harley guy would never stay close enoughf to here it!!!!!!!!! but thats right you harley guys are always crying about something

  • lol im not a harley guy. im a YAMAHA guy.. i think the yamaha r1 2006 raven edition is the best bike in the world.. im not a harley guy, im just saying that v-max doesnt look/sounds as nice as a harley v-rod..

  • Not to mention Harley Davison went to a forgein company called Porche to try to get the V-Rod up to a horsepower standard, now this is an "all american" company WEEK!!!!

    Even H D outsourced.

  • This bike would of been perfect if they would of just ditched the stupid shaft drive and put a wider rear tire on back throw a 240 on back the vmax was never ment for curves anyways.

  • Why keep buying chains, at 200 hp you need a smooth "bullet proof" shaft as they described

and besides I think they have the engineers who thought that over

  • I own a Hayabusa and have never had to replace a chain on it. Shaft drives sacrifice too much horspower for a "smoother" power delivery which isn't even noticable unless you're Nicky hayden or something plus there not as durable. Yamahas braggin 200 pony's with this bike and I doubt it's rwhp plus shafts make it harder for wide tire conversions etc. That's why I dont't like the shaft most max owners try to get rid of it if they can afford to.

  • I have known quite a few MAX owners and NONE of them have ever wanted to switch over to a chain, you must never hit your power band or your weak on your BUSA. The only thing I added to my bike was sassy and the bullet proof shaft drive will never change.

As far as hp, that new max is hp at the crank but wait till you race one, shit the Honda CBR 1000 rr will give you a run for your money.

Stand back BUSA ther is a new sherriff in town

    and you dont like it

  • I can ride my bike rather well thank you very much plus its heavily modified, I've raced plenty of vmaxs and 1000cc and it's not even a challenge but that's not the point, chains can handle more horsepower than shafts that's why you see them on all drag bikes. Look at what the Europeans do to their maxes. I like the new max, wish they would of came out with it a year ago like they said, it looks sweet as hell but it's not aerodynamic at all definitely not at 185mph great bike nonetheless.

  • So you had to "heavily modify" your bike to keep it competitive, damn im sorry you spent extra money, I bought the right bike the first time, and it is still very stock plus I can take it on a 3k mi trip wich I have.

Well I guess we cant all learn from other peoples mistakes.

BTW I have wailed on my shaft drive and never had to maintain it, never oiled it never had a problem and ate plenty of stock crotch rockets or crotch crickets (get yourself checked out) Buy the right bike, save money!!!!!

  • I didn't have to modify anything the bike came shit hot out of the box, 9 sec quarter mile. I only modified it to make the bike more my own just like everyone else who wants to go faster. Swallow your pride everyone knows that chains are the preffered power delivery for muscle bikes thats not saying that the max shaft sucks it just means instead of 200rw shaft hp you could probly get 215 with a chain and save 35 pounds.

  • Thousands of hours and high paid engineers made shure that this bike is the shhhiiiiiiiiitttt, let it go BUSA takes a back seat

  • Pred 178 I apoligize, I thought I was replying to someone else, yes the Busa is bad assed fast stock on its own, racing bikes go more with chains for weight, and yes more h p but you cant beat the dependability and smoothness of shaft drive

  • 200hp so who cares ill ride it 4 sho!!

  • hm...this sound sucks ^^ lol

we got the "old"one...and it got´s a waaay better V4-sound, this one sounds like a vacuum cleaner or something like that -.-

but the look isn´t that bad :) i like it!

  • wow, would hate to work on that motor

  • fajna maszyna

  • Find someone with a better vocabulary, or at least a hot chick with a nice rack. If I'm going to listen to an idiot, I need some eye candy.

  • So over 60 years after the Japanese were defeated at the battle of Midway, they decide to stage a product launch on the deck of a ship named for that battle. And further make a point by doing a smoky burnout on her flight deck...Wow someone needs to grow up.

  • good observation abt Midway.though 3 decades too late.Japanase may have lost the war but the have conquered the world.

  • I suspect the Imperial Empire didnt have global domination of Automobile and Motorcycle sales in mind when they embarked on territorial expansion earlier in the 20th century.

Admittedly I dunno why the US Midway was chosen to unveil the VMax as there are plenty of WWII vets and plenty-o nationalistic zealots in the US that might see this as sacrilege.

  • "things bitchin"....

  • holy rubber all stuck up under it now, damn.......

  • Who gives a Shit. Sounds like a weed whacker

  • This guy looks like a terrorist (very un-professional), why does he keep sayin "bitchin" on all the videos? This guy is tryin too hard to be cool.. what a LOSER!

  • Supreme being...

  • Those that motherfucker know another word that isnt bitchin? jaja what a loser It looks like a mean beast that machine but the sound of it leaves you wanting something else dont you think I KNOW that maybe in person would sound diferent but in the video doesnt sound nice

  • stock-pipes sound = fail

  • Ghey mufflers. 200HP sounds the a'ight tho.

  • the things bitchin!!! that guy is a looser

  • Sick acceleration B-)

  • omg NICEEE.... but it looks like SH**.... if u know wut i meen

  • hahahahaha...maybe it's not good looking...it just looks like a beast...hahahahaha...that's what v max actually is...

  • thats some apocalyptic shit...

  • is it bitchin? i can't tell... what a douchebag

  • shut the fuck up!

  • Its nice but.. BUT! dont sound as good as my dads HONDA VTR 1000 FIRESTORM its got race pipes on, top speed 180 max speed on speed'0' 180

  • omg ugly

  • agree

  • WTF... talking about Ugly. Its like Mad max 2 all over again...its just like the old one but customised by a Vmax enthusiast. respect to the old one though.. classic

  • tell the guy whos talking that hes the one whos bitchin

  • Maybe you could just drop the phrase ''bitchin'' ? I'm no puritan, but it bothered me also :/

  • It's ironic that a presentation for a Japanese product was made aboard the USS Midway :)

  • i can help u bud

call me on 1 800 helpbuds

  • Oh yeah, "feels pretty light between my legs".. Haha! like your cock, maybe? Great fucking commentary, man. It's "Bitchin!"

I can't fucking believe you represent Motorcycle USA.

  • Smiley - why are you getting so upset about the word "bitchin"? Oh wait, I just watched the videos on your profile - you must take it as a personal insult considering you love your dogs so much that you post videos of them. Get a life.

  • Haha! Looks like I hit a nerve! Nice comeback man, it was 'bitchin'..

    Just let it go...

  • Bitchin'??? What the fuck ever man. Who the fuck says "Bitchin".. and doesn't get beat up?!?..

Besides that, this piece O' shit sounds like a fucking lawn mower trying to pass a golf ball through the carb.

  • sounds like a radio controlled car!

  • Yeah, that intake sounds mean... I think with the right exhaust it's going to be awesome. Starting price of $17,000? I'll settle for the R6, thanks!

  • Haha, that's what I did, silver 08' That VMAx is still pretty sick though.

  • The R6 has 0 low end power

  • That's why I don't buy the R6 for low end power... And I don't drop the clutch at 2,000 rpm when drag racing!

  • Why buy a bike thats designed for top end, I mean how many times can you reach peak power and speed without getting a speeding ticket. A 600 0r a 1700 cc, all balls all thru, I need to hit the lotto so I can get my ROCKET!!! light to light and 1/4 mile is all I need!! My 98 max would eat your lunch and still do 150 mph

  • That would be MISTER Max....

  • bitchen?, great selection on words to promote a bike. NOT.

  • "Things bitchin" ???

    Where has this guy been?

  • it's nice bike and crazy bike too, but the sound is so shity so quiet and so non motivational it need new exhaust this sucks

  • almost 200 hp..damn!

  • What an insane bike... Do want.

  • V-MAX = Street Cred

    JB

  • pretty cool

  • 15th veiw ND FIRST COMMENT YA!!, that bike needs an exhaust so bad, and is it sport or cruise?

  • It's a "IGoOnlyInAStraightLine".

  • ''IGoOnlyInAStraightLineAtTheSpeedOfLght'' is more like it.

maybe they changed it a bit cornering wise since the last one?

  • It's heavy, it has wide tires and custom/cruiser geometry. I don't think so. SpeedOfLight is hardly a bonus when you need to avoid something or.. for example.. stop.

  • Study up on the new MAX. They made the frame more ridged so it handles better

  • Better then the old one and probably most other

    bikes of this type/kind. But..
