I was there too. I only live 1 mile away, and we managed to get right near the stage. 130,000 people standing behind us, Freddie and the group right in front of us. Absolute magic!!!
@bgarrad69 Don't say that! I wish I was alive when this happened...!!! Unfortunately I was born a couple of months after Freddie's death. I'm 100% sure I would be standing right behind you If I could, no matter how much it would cost me to get there. Long live the Queen (and the king Freddie)....
I think that Freddie grew a mustache to hide his teeth,it's sad that he's very self-cautious about his teeth. Honestly I think that he has beautiful teeth, and I don't see how he has buck teeth, there's nothing wrong with 'em. If he didn't have those delicious teeth it wouldn't make him as beautiful as he is now[was] I think we all come back as the same person...we'll see him again soon, maybe not in this life but perhaps in the next. AIDS IS A MAN MADE DESEASE,I STILL HAVE HOPE 4 A CURE.R.I.P Fred
He grew it becuase he was following a look called the clone look. Which was a look at the time in New York for gay men. The mustache was part of the look.
aye. we travelled down on the train from Scotland too for about £3 all in. I was sixteen and had to take my wee brother and two cousins. Still remember the noise and sheer excitment when Queen made their way to the stage. no-one thought that would be the last but what a way to end...frigging epic!

Check out the black and white face singing from 1:52 to 1:55 middle/bottom of the screen in the crowd, made up of 4 or 5 people ...too cool! hint: if you pause at 1:52 and move curser to the 4:23, you will be right on top of it
Check out the black and white face singing from 1:52 to 1:55 middle/bottom of the screen in the crown, made up of 4 or 5 people ...too cool! hint: if you pause at 1:52 and move curser to the 3:33, you will be right on top of it
I could give my life just to be on a concert and see and listen to the greatest voice in world history. Freddie forever you will live forever. I'll love you, your music your voice forever, because you give me the power of the music I love more than anything,
Knebworth 9th August 86 & Wembley 12th July 86....so I was right all them years thinking Knebworth was the last untill other people started telling me different!!!
Best band in this universe...shame they're not still with us and touring. Fortunately Freddie left us with fabulous treasures. As for Brian, Roger, and John thank you for more incredibly beautiful and fun melodies. Will love you Queen forever
It was better, there are no DVD. The cameras was filming the concert to feed the giant screens at the moment, but not recording. Anyone knew it would be the last Queen concert ever... :(
The only existing recordings are from a fan that stayed all the concert filming the big screen at the concert, without jumping or claping... Thanks a lot to him, it's the only jewly that exist.
Freddie's health was bad in the late 80's. He had found out that he was HIV positive in spring 1987. And in late 80's and in 1990 he got full blown AIDS
:)
If I could only turn back time - miss you Freddie, miss them all so much
I went and what a day it was, I was 50 feet from the stage and it took us hours to find our car after too ha, it makes me so proud to say I was there the last time Queen performed together what a band and what a man, Freddie we love you and miss you forever God bless you my friend
On a Friday night in 1986 I was 19 years old & I visited some mates for a few beers & they said"Do you want to come & see Queen? We have a spare ticket"And my answer was"No. Fuck Queen they are OTT.Bombastic rubbish"And my friend said"Dont talk bollocks this will be a show you will never forget"Eventually I said"Ok what the heck" Anyway I am pleased to tell u I went & had a brilliant time I was 40 rows in (trust me that was near) & Radio Ga Ga was fantastic.Ate my words changed my mind. Brilliant
There was been 2600 000 people, and this is the bigest concert in rock music history. This is amazing number of people. I was there one day before concert and waiting this concert. I were not seen much people in my life than were here
I was there :) and the whole concert was filmed but when it came out on video, the Magic tour was the Wembley concert and was not as good as the final one at Knebworth as he was saving his voice for the biggest concert. 120,000 of us at Knebworth and they said at the time it would be their last tour.....
But Freddie then said "Fuck it! we will carry on" Sadley he was diagnosed with HIV not long after this and it was the last concert
Why this concert wasn't filmed? Every Queen concert should have been filmed! It's like seeing UFO and not take picture of it if you have a chance.Ridiculous!
Oh this still sends shivers up my spine when i see this clip, we queued up for 4 hours to get out, took us 4 hours to get in and parked and wow what a show, none of us knew this would be it for Queen and Freddie but the warm day will live with me forever.
@Jledstones NO WAY! Jagger doesn't even come close! Freddie was the best. Saw Queen live 6 times, and I was lucky to be at Knebworth. Absolute Legends!
@rickenbacker67 omfg i would lick your balls if i had to just to go back to ur past and experience it for myself. I was born in 1990 so i missed all the best moments, and i fucking hate my mum for not giving birth earlier because of it. THAT BITCH
They were bigger and better...in everything...Unfortunetely i was only 5 years old at that time and lived in USSR, so i had no chance to see it alive.
This year i was in London O2 arena, Queen and Paul Rodgers did a very good show...and i think that Bri and Roger are so powerful even this days. But Queen is not the Queen as it was 20 years ago...King Mercury will allways live in my heart...RIP Freddie...
I was in that crowd, and I hereby claim my 0.0001p royalty payment for use of my likeness in this video! Terrific concert - Freddie was probably the greatest showman of the Twentieth Century, like Al Jolson he has the crowd at his command.
I live so near to Knebworth. I never knew they played there, especially as their last concert. It graces me to know that they've even heard of a local area let alone been there! Wish I could have seen them live.
Takes me back. I still rate this as the best concert I have been to. Me and 2 mates managed to miss our bus from Glasgow the night before and had to get a train to London and then another to Stevenage. The whole placed was mobbed, we ended up getting off the bus to the gig as it was total gridlock. I was not really that much of a Queen fan at the time but they were awesome. I will always remember the hairs on the back of my neck tingling when they played 'Love of my life'. Awesome.
I too was there. There was 8 of us and we camped in the grounds. I remember getting up at 5AM and queueing for some of the 5000 tickets that went on sale that day. That queue went right round the church. Quo & Big Country were brilliant. I remember at least one of the inflatables getting ripped up. But it was the enormity of the gig.The stage was huge. I read there was an estimated 200,000 and watching all those hands clapping to Radio Ga Ga was amazing. And it took 90 mins to find the campsite!
Anche io sono un grande fan dei Queen. Peccato che sono nato nel 1989 e non qualche anno prima. Cmq andrò a vederli a Roma ma senza Freddie Mercury nn è la stessa cosa
My parents were at that concert and when they left my brothers and i at our grandparents for the weekend i cried all day because they wouldn't take me too! I was only 4...I've been a big Queen fan my whole life.
according to fan club,it was never filmed.of course no-one knew it would be their last gig.there is some footage on you tube but quality not to good.a real shame.i was there, you missed a great gig
'There is definitely NO professional recording in the archives except for a few bits.' These bits are 'Radio Ga Ga', 'We Are The Champions', God Save The Queen', 'Is This The World We Cretaed?' and probably 'One Vision'...On Youtube this amatour film is made by someone from the crowd, who mark view of his camera on the big screen above the stage.
Glad I found this, I was a lucky one too...will never forget the anticipation when the band were back stage, it was shown on a live link on the screens above the stage. I never have and never will see a better live band.
I was 15 and thought it was amazing. I remember the guy from Belouis Some having to get off because of the bottle fight, and then coming back on and saying "you'll like this one, its called Target Practice"!
this was my first ever concert i was 16 and i will never ever forget it.the whole day was great yes i remember the bottle fight and the guy with the huge cardboard guitar stood on top of the video screen while quo were on then queen flying over in the chopper.i have seen many great bands live but still no one to touch the power and energy of queen on stage.little did we know that this was the last time they ever played live together.their legacy will live on forever.
i remember Harvey Goldsmith came out on stage to tell us all off for throwing bottles at Belouis Som ha ha then they announced the next song as Target Practice.... oops, never seen so many flying bottles :)
That guy stole Quos thunder as he danced about on the top of the giant screen with the huge cutout guitar, i remember Quo all coming to the front of the stage to see him, i think he was one of their roadies :)
I just have to say I was there too. 200,000 divided by 50 million that is 1 in 200 of the population of the UK. So we shared in a big thing probably the biggest rock thing of my life. I feel priviledged
I was there that day. I didn't know at the time it was the last gis. It was a priviledge and a pleasure. the day was hot, Quo and Big Country were brill, but Freddie blew us away.
its good to say i was there, just moving up the back and they encored with radio ga ga...........a sea of hands, the canines spherical down belows.......

I remember the guy from Belouis Some having to get off because of the bottle fight, and then coming back on and saying "you'll like this one, its called Target Practice"!
jchody123 4 years ago
ha ha yeah, and the poor backing singers held what looked like a washing up bowl on her head to protect her from flying plastic bottles full of p***
amazing gig and such a shame they only fully recorded the wembley concert.

i remember Harvey Goldsmith came out on stage to tell us all off for throwing bottles at Belouis Som ha ha then they announced the next song as Target Practice.... oops, never seen so many flying bottles :)
MADMARK00 2 years ago
Yep I remember that well, bags of food flying through the air and other unwelcome items as well.
Do you remember the guy on top of the video over the stage, if i remember correct he had a cut out guitar.
markyboy1704 2 years ago
That guy stole Quos thunder as he danced about on the top of the giant screen with the huge cutout guitar, i remember Quo all coming to the front of the stage to see him, i think he was one of their roadies :)

Could you remember what Harvey Goldsmith said when he was telling everyone off?

I just have to say I was there too. 200,000 divided by 50 million that is 1 in 200 of the population of the UK. So we shared in a big thing probably the biggest rock thing of my life. I feel priviledged
