I just want to point something out. When an artist such as Conor writes with a deeper meaning in his lyrics and uses imagery that's interesting it does NOT mean he's on drugs. That sort of thinking seems to negate the artists creativity and say that "the only reason lyrics that rad could be written is if he were 'high'". That takes something away from the artist in my opinion. It's a simple minded "philosophy" for sure. Ever think it could be just an interesting view on things?

Hm, well you may just not be into indie music or folk music. To be honest it is almost impossible to explain what is so wonderful about his songs, music, and style. I really can't explain it.
For one thing, he is one of the greatest song writers of our generation, look up any of his lyrics and you'll understand why.
For another thing, his voice is so sincere...his music as a whole is so sincere, so real and raw that it's so attractive.

Well for me its his lyrics. Even if you dont like his voice or style his songwriting is amazing. Theyre very real and honest and...well...just read them :)

Alright. For all of you who didn't know that he ever did drugs and still is/was an alcoholic, who are sitting there all surprised by this, get a fucking clue. If you didn't know any of this by now then I don't even think you should be considered a fan of his. Its not like I want him to die or anything because he is a truly amazing artist, but he ultimately decides what he wants to do. So if you're "anti drugs" then you probably shouldn't be listening to his music.

First of all, he was joking. Second of all, who the fuck cares if he does do drugs. The drugs probably give his music the edge that really makes it so amazing and awe-inspiring. Wow no other great musicians did drugs, right? (Thats sarcasm) I mean, who were the beatles again?
Also, the only drug persay i'm really against is crystal meth, but conor wouldn't do that, he's smarter then that.

Somehow I dont think he was joking. Considering he did cocaine for quite awhile, I doubt getting 'high' which is most commonly used to reference smoking pot, yeah Im sure he never does that, right?

Check the date buddy, video added in april of 07, which was close to when cassadaga was realeased which means this probably happened after he "cleaned out". Meaning he probably was joking.

It's a well known fact that Conor uses a variety of drugs. That's part of his music. Just listen to his voice, and how miserable he is. He drowns his pain in drugs and alcohol, as do many people.
If so many people didn't think Bright Eyes were emo, and so many fans weren't 13 year old emo straight edge girls, these comments wouldn't all sound so surprised.
