  • I started a conversation with someone on OkCupid, and at the end of her second message to me, she asked me "Where do your thoughts and feelings lie in terms of animal rights? Especially research related?" I scanned her profile and publicly answered questions, but couldn't find any indication of her position on the issue... so I linked her to this song.

  • what a group of musical genius!

  • so cynical-so true -i love it

  • Damn am I gonna miss the Spankers ... great act for many years. Spanks for the memories, gang!

  • best band alive are they still on tour

  • @MrJsauce93 They are, but not for much longer. Check their website or facebook page top find out where they are going.

  • What an awesomely original ending.

  • silliness....and some hippy dippy foolishness, he he

  • wow

  • Not really an Asylum Street Spankers song... This a Guy Forsyth original to the tune of Dear Prudence et la the Beatles...

  • Saw you guys in Colorado Springs and kinda bummed you didn't sing some of your more provocative stuff. You rock the casbah baby!!

  • an honest love-song if you get down to it , at least so it seems to me...

  • It isn't just the ending - the song itself is to the tune of "Dear Prudence".

  • Just to let you know.

I ordered the DVD on the back of these videos on youtube.

It arrived safe and sound in Germany a few days ago.

    Cheers.Love it.

  • Charlie was not in the band when this video was shot. There is no actual throat singing going on here, just humming trying to sound like throat singing.

  • ghostofzappa charie is the one throat singing he aslo does that on a song called leafblower with whammo

  • gotta love the spankers man!!!

    much much love for posting!!!

  • who´s doing the throat singing??at 4.20?

  • The guy who filmed all of this did a very good job. Great filming AND great editing. The song is great but seeing the video makes it even better. Cheers!

  • she has some big ass TATA's

  • This is the original version. Bastard Fairies is the cover.

  • Guy is freakin CUTE, as well as one hell of a guitarist

  • Im not sure if anyone was interested or even wondering but I couldnt help but notice that the end of the song where it goes all weird, is in fact the song Revolution 9 performed by the beetles, played backwards, of course the screams of torture and torment, the screeching of tyres and babys crys were missing, as opposed to the original version as it was backmasked but none the less a great attempt. love these guys

  • you mean The B-e-A-t-l-e-s............(Beatles)

  • seen them tonight in spartanburg sc. great show!

  • Long spank the Spankers!

  • Nice National Reso!!

  • the guy on the left looks like Ricky from trailer park boys.

  • You mean Wammo?

  • Is that his name? Dont really know their names, but I know a few of the songs!

  • Yep. He's even got a solo album

  • well this explains the awkward line in the bastard fairies cover, " your balls are turning blue"

  • funny stuff.

  • Great lyrics. Great song. I love the Bastard Fairies version as well :)

  • does the guy beside the vocailist with the cowboy hat ever not have a beer in his hand???

  • Wammo always goes through beer after beer after beer when he's performing...and he still never misses a beat. That's why he wrote "Beer." There's a bad audience recording of it on YT, but the lyrics are on his website at wammolovesmedotcom:

    "Well I tried 'em all

    And it might sound queer

    But my favorite drug

    Is an ice cold beer

Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer

Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer"

  • You can also listen to it at asylumstreetspankersdotcom on the home page.

  • Actually, I just realized that someone posted a better version of Beer recently: "Asylum Street Spankers at The Grey Eagle (1.30.08)"

  • There's a nice high quality version of that video on their MySpace page.

  • Hee-larious!!!

  • at 1'48" What is up with the guy in the back row, second from left...look at that fuck-off chin!!!

  • He's got a beard.

  • "I AM VERY HIGH!" lol

  • Lizard-Tongue! lol

  • The Bastard Fairies covered this song... which was pretty awesome, but it wasn't the same.....

  • It was almost better.

  • The Bastard Fairies cover was pretty horrible compared to this.

  • The Bastard Faries cover is just as satirical! How can you see this song as not sartirical? It's a good song, good humour, when you don't turn it into feminist rubbish.

I think both versions are funny.

  • Comment removed

  • It is funny as hell! I agree, it's just humor, not a political statement! Guy's facial expressions make it even funnier too!

  • @rockinredneck57 I think it is both humor and a political statement.

  • I love this group! I can't wait til they come to MI this month - got my tickets!

  • Those signs on the backdrop are all music venues in Austin. Where was this recorded? It doesn't look familiar. Is this in Austin? I'll have to watch it again.

  • This was shot at the Texas Union THeater in Austin. The bakdrop was designed just for this show.

  • A.S.S. is an excellent band. Cant wait for them to come to orlando

  • Oh. My. God.

I've been listening to them for years and never realized the acronym.

    I feel like a dunce.

  • A.S.S? I've been into these guys for years and Chrintine said the first started to play together on Asylum St. in Austin TX and a spanker is an old term for an acoustic performer it is only by chance that it spells ass

  • whose song is this originally? I love this version!

  • this is the original version, written by the two men singing and another guy named Neal.

  • Zappa + Spike Jones + Cab Calloway = Asylum Street Spankers. Come to L.A. and the I.Q. of this town will go up by 80 points! I love you mugs!

  • G E N I U S ! ! ! Sons of Smothers THANK YOU FOR FEELING LIKE I DEW!!!!!!! I share your humor and I get the BIBLE quoted back at me. Hahahaahh selected verses of course and divinely interpreted by good (opps one "o" too many.)

    MUAHAHAHA!!!!

  • GODAWFUL

  • Great vid.

  • Hey! There's a band called 'the Bastard Fairies' that's doing this song. This is a Guy Forsythe song, right?

    This one is better.

    K!

  • man alive, these guys are fab

  • I love these guys.

  • Please come to Santa Cruz! Love yas!

  • A little of Beatle/Indian music in the end!! Awesome!!!!

  • Love them!

    Come to Canada!

  • yes pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

  • Austin, Texas rocks. And a big part of the reason they rock is the Asylum Street Spankers.

  • The ending is a Beatles tribute, very well done!

  • That was great.

  • sweet thanks for posting this made my day!!

  • Bizarre ending.

  • I think the ending is a takeoff of the Beatles.

  • ya think?

  • Are they saying "everybody smoke's pot" at the end?

  • as to the ending, I think you had to have been there--last time around! This vid is hilarious and SO right on. LSD is one of the _other_ things that happened to changing the world.
