I'm for self defense. I also think you should never have to shoot anyone in the back. Here, self defense requires the perpetrator to basically be trying to kill you or cause life threating harm. Now if someone is killing you or someone else you know, it is in your hands. That is why it is important to know the elements of the defense if you go to trial over it. Duh.

It does not matter if you're just a hunter (in the woods, hunting for food) or defending yourself. If you fire a bullet, whom ever you are, you are accountable for every bullet fired from that weapon. You also have to think about what is around the target, anywhere (children, people, animals, property, etc). Think about the arguments. Look up your Self Defense Statutes.

It appears that (and a valid point) Horn did not let the robbers escape to the wall. How and where were the robbers shot? Were the robbers armed with guns? Were they robbers armed at all? Did they threaten Horn? Did they advance Horn? Did Horn just shoot them? Picture them climbing out the window and being shot? READ YOUR STATUTES. Do you understand?
