Frank & Jesse James are overestimated by most historians. The early robberies were committed by Confederate Guerrilla's, hardened veterans of the war.

Jesse was a 20 year old who had not been a leader, the type of men who pulled these robberies were. If the James' were there, their role would have been minor.

billy the kid is better he was only 21 and was the biggest manhunt for him in American western history. Jesse James killed like 17 0r 18 men while Billy the kid killed 21.
