  • God All You Guys Are Freaking Retards Just Cus Someone Makes A Video Dosent Mean They Know Everything Hell I Doubt Anyone Knows Anything.... Its A Freaking SONG The Lyrics Can Be Shit For All Anyone Cares Aslong As U Like The Band And Music Thats All That Matters. Grow Up And Maybe Do Something With Ur Self Instead Of Posting Lame Shit On Someone Who Just Wanted To Have Fun Making A Video.

  • @Schlunky Nice Video.. Dont You Just Love Listening To These Kinda Songs In The Car And Staring Out The Window Makes The Song Sound A Lot Better Sometimes :D

  • This isnt music, it's monkey garbage

  • @DannyGloverIsAwesome No shit grampa.

    Stupid homo shit.

  • 3:51 my fav part when he screams like that

  • This page is full of amateur philosophers & it's boring. Just because something is overflowing with time changes & irregular chords doesn't automatically brand it quality music, that's about perspective. There are people who enjoy having easily discernible rhythm or hooks, they want simple music & not ART. That doesn't make those people less intelligent or inferior to you in some way. Please refrain from being a cretin. And yes me likey The Mars Volta.

  • NUFF SAID

  • where was this video shot?

  • tmv lo +

  • ther was much more to this song then i thought bout moatilliatta coming back n gettin revenge and shit.

  • ¡Enormes!

  • this is a really shitty video

  • @chewybaco you shut up hes making a statement

  • I'll rain blood on this city.

  • This song isnt your average song.

    This song solves lifes problems.

  • let em call them and us weird dudes,

I'd Rather be Weird then normal..

    Poor Souls...

  • what are the names of some other bands like this?

  • @IronDrummer123 At the Drive-In

  • @IronDrummer123 Pink Floyd to an extent...John Frusciante's solo work is somewhat similar when it comes to sound manipulation and a couple other aspects (Omar does some work on Frusicante albums)

  • @IronDrummer123 tera melos, the fall of troy to an extent... tbh half of what makes tmv so amazing is there is not a whole lot out there that sounds like then

  • I hate when people say the music is weird...if the music sounds "normal" people fear the lyrics and if the lyrics sound normal enough than people fear the leangth of the song or the fast tempo. TMV rules

  • I love omar's playing in this song. so jazzy, heavy, cool. I suck at guitar so much...

  • does anyone know what hes saying in the background,

    starting around 4:17

  • No band compare to TMV. They dominate on so many levels.

  • My taste mainly consists of metal, but TMV is something special. I find it one of the most innovative and creative music in the 21st century. People shouldn't get provoked from irrelevant comments that are being posted here. I only feel sad for them when they don't understand this work of art.

  • an alternate demention where color is percived differently and the mars volta are megastars insted of jerk offs like britney or whatever.

  • @cahaleym Im talking about the color in the video.

  • First time listening... I really really like it.

  • nice video..

  • the video is so uncouth and raw. i think i would have liked it better if it was in color.... actually no; not at all. the rawness is actually what draws me in. i enjoyed it, thank you. thumbs up. prey tell.... what town, state is this in?

To me, it seems that this is the song where Cerpin or Julio wakes up from the coma and starts feeling depressed and wanting to commit suicide. Then, in Televators, he finally does it by jumping off of a bridge or highway.

  • Not saying they're not talented.. just saying they're a little overdone in the effects.. some their chords are boring progressions, simple 3-4 chord progression. most of the scales in this particular song are off key - i wonder how they would sound without all the effects.. the singer.. i can't feel him. sorry.

  • @SwitchBladeMalone Please read about Omar Rodriguez's style of guitar playing. He doesn't consider himself a guitar player, and uses effects to get the sound he wants that is in his head from his guitar. Oh, and try to think outside the box... Steve Vai recommends making up scales, and I'd nary say Steve Vai makes terrible music. And you've got the "Emo" singing tag off-target. I hate so called "emo singing" myself, and this isn't it. Just take this as info for your future judgements of music.

  • @SwitchBladeMalone oh, and look into jazz... usually jazz solos contain an off key note every 5 seconds. It's fun to listen to.

  • @SwitchBladeMalone Ever heard of atonality?

  • Random off key notes, over use in effects.. high pitched vocals (sorry I don' tdig the whole emo singing) ..

Lyrics that make absolutely no sense. Nope, mars volta is not for me.

  • @SwitchBladeMalone hahahahaha.

    mars volta is dope.

    maybe someday you'll get it.

  • @SwitchBladeMalone : Emo? Really? Some people just steal air from better people...... Seriously dude, please, don't EVER compare The MARS VOLTA to emo trash. The mars volta play the most complex form of music possible, and you hate on them for that? Ridiculous time signatures, exotic scales and chord progressions, metaphoric deep lyrics that tell stories in the most creative way, and as for effects, who r u to say whats too much? Should everything be played just acoustically or what? wanker.

  • @SwitchBladeMalone One would question why you are here so

  • does it sting of augur truth was your temple left in ruins

  • i just came

  • when they played at the house of blues in boston my boyfriend ACTUALLY GOT A PICTURE WITH THOMAS PRIDGEN AND CEDRIC and tom gave him hi drum stickk !!! its soooooooooo sickkkk !!

  • EAA!! THE MARX VOLTA #1

  • Is that you MO TA LIA TAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • mars volta created their own kind of music....voltaism. its unlike anything my ears have ever experianced, and their live shows look amazing, turning some of their greatest songs into epic origanals, 5+ minutes longer of on the spot creativity. TMV styles are so amamzing, its as close to LSD for your ears as you can get

  • I disagree.. You might call them Voltaism but that's no stated music genre. Call it progressive.

  • Actually, this kind of music is called "New Prog". The Mars Volta are pioneers in this new branch to the progressive rock

  • i thought it was call music. Ya i like that better don't lable them.

  • @asspants101

I agree, but they asked for the classification so..

    Peace!

  • jealoussssssss of yyybird!

    //

    tengo celos por yyybird!

  • no, they cancelled that show. at trhe show in phoenix(yes, yes, i followed them there after the hollywood show)they mentioned that the venue denied them the opportunity to play there and they played an old song for everyone who missed it. the crowd in phoenix, with the exception of myself and a handful of other people, were totally dead fish and they cut the show short..

  • dude if I had the money to leave Argentina and get up there I would have gone, and I would have gone nuts! screw Phoenix man that shocks me. I hope you had a good time at least

  • oh, how exciting this band is... and to think, in just two short days i get to see them in hollywood. i can barely contain my excitement!!!!

  • Hey man do you know if TMV are still comin to play here in San diego? SOMA IS THE VENUE> THANXXX PLZ REPLY!!!

  • I was recently exposed to tmv, by my bestie juli. i immediately went and bought octahedron. it's amazing - even though it's only 8 tracks, it was worth every penny. i can jam straight through every song. i've decided that they are my pink floyd. :D

  • they have better cd's than octahedron, but it's a good cd, but not nearly as great as Deloused, or Frances.

  • i agree with gagsteroflove 100%

  • I love the part that sounds like evil robots attacking.

  • i just love their voice!

    :D

this song gets me so hyped.

    <333

  • oh yeah i share a youtube with my sister and we have codenames soo yeeah ...

why am i even letting this vid know?

    lol

    -taffy

  • the mars volta is one of the best bands of this shity music era if you ask me, there not compleat sell outs like most "bands" out there who are being blown up by MTV. For those who think there music sucks because its weird and what not, you obviously dont understand there supper deep poetic messages, and theres lots of interesting storys behind there songs. so all i have to say is DONT JUDGE THEM IF YOU DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY'RE ALL ABOUT.

  • I love TMV, but there is alot of people out there doin great stuff and pushin the barrier for those who have evolved with music, its been helped by the mars volta being more main stream these days which is a good thing to expose the un evolved even if they dont like them

  • that was a bit pretensious of me

  • i know exactly!

ive been listening to this band ever since i was born! 0 months old to be exact. till my age now.

[im kinda young hehe please dont curse at me, its not my fault i like this band and understand theyre music, blame my dad haha!]

but yeeeah i really like this band.

i think its one of the best band in my ipod lol!

but yeah i kinda have to think about the lyrics. to get what they mean.

  • the whole story of this album is very complex, de-loused in the comatorium. It's about a man who tries to overdose and ends up in a week long coma then decides to jump off the edge of a building after seeing visions of humanity itself. and i agree

  • well... i dont know if the "humanity itself" bit of that was quite accurate. i mean it all made sense to me except for the ant people. i read straight through the story without stopping, and it was about 3:am when i read a line within said story that said something along the lines of "the old language flicked off the antennae more naturally." it was at this point i realized "holy fuck, these are ant people." quite the realization. lol.

  • While I agree for the most part, and I feel the same, you have to realise if someone doesn't understand the deeper meanings doesn't mean they are at a loss.

  • @gagsteroflove Hell, the music isn't weird at all. Just most people can't appreciate true art lol. Mars Volta/Fall of Troy/After the Burial for life!

  • @gagsteroflove Try metal.

  • @FollowTheSunDown Mostly of metal bands are coping each other, only a few could be named as original these days.

  • @FollowTheSunDown Copying, sorry.

  • @gagsteroflove are you 13?

  • @gagsteroflove

    Shut up, please

  • @gagsteroflove

I completely agree that The Mars Volta is awesome and a crusader of quality music in these dark times and all of that, but, really? Honestly, you're not a big-shot academic who understands the universe just because you listen to their music. The lyrics are somewhat esoteric and might have deeper meaning, but you're not a superior entity for acting like you appreciate/understand it all. I'd say you probably only listen to it because you think it makes you some kind of sophisticate.

  • @tiberiuskingjw thank you. fuck, I hate all that 'oh look at me. I love great music that's so beyond your brain power. You can't possibly understand The Mars Volta like I do.' Fuck right off. It's rock music, not WB Yeats

  • @tiberiuskingjw fucking amen brother. speak the truth.

  • @tiberiuskingjw the mars volta's lyrics are meaningless and they've intimated as much in interviews but, I do agree with you

  • @gagsteroflove LEAVE THE MARS VOLTA ALONE!!!!!!

  • @gagsteroflove What do you think they're about?

  • @gagsteroflove Compleat? really? are you retarded?

  • @djlewis763

I think people are retarded when all they can see is a spelling mistake, and can't understand the point that someone else is trying to get across.

  • u people dont even deserve 2 have the word tmv imprinted in ur vocabulary fuckin deuche bags

  • people dont like tmv cuz theyre minds dont have the musical knowledge or insight to grasp wat they do dont get mad when someone says they suck these people dont even realise what they r listening too when tmv come on cuz theyre simple brain cant grasp anything that isnt a simple drum beat or ordinary power chords whch to me is pathetic and shameful

  • idk y ppl hate thier music...i love them and i think thier awesome and the ppl who dont like them must have no sense in what real music is.but its thier choice if they dont like it or not im just sayin that the mars volta makes da best songs to me but thats my opinion

  • I've always found it very funny that any likes the Mars Volta at all. The darker apsects of my personality are what draws me to this music, as it is resonates with the cacophony intrinsic to the bipolar thoughts that find it prudent to occupy my mind.....

  • "you guys like this shit???!!!"

can you believe this douche is 50 years old? please trip on a spear or something. I can see from a look at your profile page that most people agree that you are a complete and total tool. Usually I don't take time out of my day to waste on idiots, but I'm in a special mood. I'd really like to know what causes you to tell someone their music is shit? Some personal insecurity? Small penis? Latent homosexuality, maybe? Either way, sound like a personal problem.

  • it's good to see that somebody put the whole song up

  • Wicked song.

Its funny how people have nothing better to do other than watch music videos of music they don't like and then make stupid comments. meh people are strange

  • I love this song.

It was amazing the first time I heard it.

Me and this guy I liked were holding hands in his car and we were driving fast down the freeway and watching the sun set reflet on LA.

This was such a great mood and a great song to fit that mood.

    AMAZING

  • amazingly enough this is the only song from this band i like

but its an amazing song so

    good job !mars!

  • cool song but you need to be in a very spacific mood to like it

    and i dont mean high

  • ironsixx 80's hair metal was a joke... something that needs to be forgotten a precursor to corprate arena rock the 80's produced the worst music of any decade...skid row ??? what a joke

  • of course we do. its complex. thats why I like it.

  • Yes. Too dissonant for your tastes? Ah that's too bad go back to your Fall Out Boy or whatever it is you kids are listening to this month.

  • What the fuck does Fall Out Boy have to do with The Volta? Get the fuck out of here.

  • Hey asswipe i'm just replying to johanthepirate.

  • I don't care who you're replying to. You're an idiot.

  • It's always good to see another Fallout Boy hater. Also, Mars Volta's not for everyone. Most of my friends hate them, but I still think they're awesome.

  • I wouldn't be trying to turn anyone on to TMV through this song of cousre. I hated a lot of TMV when I first heard them too, even though De-loused is now my favorite cd from them.

  • Eeesh..my brother hates them! lmao. Ehh..I listen to a little FOB..but Mars Volta is very awesome [[FAV BAND]] compared to other alternative bands. LOTS of Alternative bands REALLY suck.

  • this is diferent asshole you cant apreciate this because youre an asshole

  • oh now i get it

  • LOL skid row? seriously? 80's metal is such complete shit lol. And btw skid row isn't metal you fucking dumbass.

Do you get together with everyone in your trailer park and rock out to white snake too? lawl

  • these peopel do never face time and call god theirs ...

  • always trying to adopt technology to their culture

  • always on the run, always on the chase - restless people with no home. nothing to give but owning the world. poor people, with no heart to share. to share. to share.

empty words with understanding and empathy but.

    i love this song.

  • their quest is time.

  • let it be history.

  • wow, have any of you guys ever clicked on reply and it wont put ur comment directly under the one youre directing it to? well, my last few comments were directed to lord clavicus.

any way, i love this song

  • Wtf... Your name is Lord Clavicus.. nough said.

  • Lol, on the contrary, my music taste is fucking epic. I listen to literally anything, anything that isn't sung by ladyboys and emotionally challenged attention seekers. This music IS ridiculous. Fact. There's too much temptation to annoy people, which is why I said what I said. I like to cause a stir, excellent responses, you have all failed to defend this cock-magnet band. You'll grow up one day children. ;)

  • You are 19 and youre acting as if youre a self claimed experienced, narrow-minded man, when really youre just a silly kid who acts as if youre better than other people because you claim a band is shit. If you think that you listen to anything, then obviously you wouldnt just shunt off a band as being shit, you cannot call the mars volta shit, even if you think some of their songs you cant listen to, does not make them shit.

  • wow. whatever you say

  • TMV is among the most talented musicians out there right now, if you don't like it fine...true genius often goes unrecognized. Yet...why comment on something you dislike, there is plenty of trash out there to troll on, get a life bro, you have not a clue what it takes to write music like this. There is no need to defend an opinion, the fact is; all of these musicians are insanely imaginative and gifted...there is no argument against that. Your opinion is of no consequence to anyone but yourself.

  • Oh my, then what genre of music would a MANLY-FUCKING-MAN like yourself recommend? It's pretty sad how males out there are deprived of true manly music. So please enlighten us with a musical revelation, Lord Dickbag.

  • i hear that playing oblivion is pretty fucking manly too, lord Clavicus

  • You sound repressed. Just suck a cock and get it over with. You'll be much happier once you accept yourself and stop projecting your self-loathing onto others.

  • If you want something more manly, I recommend listening to worthless shit like Children of Bodom or In Flames. I hear they enlarge your penis and greatly increase your chances of getting laid.

Progressive rock is pathetic? Oh dear. You have no taste in music.

  • Both bands you have mentioned, Children of Bodom and In Flames, are two bands that I pay no attention to. In Flames fall into the category of 'oh dear, what is this nonsense'. So yes, I pretty much have the best taste in music out of everybody that has watched this video. I do hope this angers you deluded people. I'm sure I'll get a response with a vast amount of spelling errors and exclamation marks fuelled by pure anger and hatred towards my superior ears. Good day =) x

  • How pathetic...I agree that Children of Bodom and In Flames are shit but sweet Jesus do you sound like a cocksucker, more so for the sheer ridiculous perceptions which you seem to indulge in, not as much as you indulge in anal insertion I'm sure but then that ain't saying much eh sunshine? ;)

  • also:

I like the Mars Volta, yes I know you could care less, but I thought that you should know that listening to "literally anything, anything that isn't sung by ladyboys and emotionally challenged attention seekers." doesn't mean that you listen to good music; I could say I only listen to music completely geared towards people who fucking love the sound of shoes falling in puddles, exciting stuff I know, but that doesn't mean it's good.

  • FURTHERMORE:

LRn2 gRaMmaR RiGhjT fAgZoRz b4 ComEnTINgZ On tEh PeoPLeS sPeLkInG eR'Rs!!!!111oneoneone!

Fuck you Youtube and your retardedly short character limit.

  • Ahh, I see. You're not a death metal tard. You're just a troll with nothing better to do.

Move on folks, nothing to see here.

  • Addendum: It's actually entirely unarguable that your taste in music sucks, assuming you aren't just trolling (which I'm banking on), if you think that progressive rock is inferior to whatever shit you run through your superior ears. Seriously, it's just not arguable. I pity you.

  • Hey... I like death metal and The Mars Volta. = (
