  • awesome!!!

  • John Cage of bass guitar!

  • Kev, I've always thought of you as a weird hybrid of Percy Jones and Tony Levin. You're incredibly innovative. I've been a fan of Stump for decades. Keep up the awesome work.

  • @kenrubes Thanks, Ken

  • Just keep ploughing your own furrow, Kev. Love what you do!

  • Pretty fascinating stuff. I appreciate the minimalist approach, I think this is one of he more interesting prepared (bass) guitar examples I've heard.

  • @SpaceRitual

    Thanks.

  • This is a joke, right?

  • @plangentmusic

It's not a joke but 'laughter is prefferable to tears' as John Cage would say.

  • this is great! some really nice tones and drones, very percussive, I like it alot

  • I'm in a blues band with rob on drums and fintan on bass,

We have to try and write something stumpy for a laugh!!

  • I dig this quite a bit. Any hints as to how its done?

  • Interesting gamelan/gong like sounds happening with the clip(s) but it gets a bit static after a while. The variation comes from the clips as the rhythmic pattern is established very early on.

  • Well that's partly the reason why I don't play it anymore. On the Spoombung record there are other musicians joining me like saxphonist, John Butcher and flugel player Iain Smith - and that adds immensley to the tone palette. It's a minimal effect with just myself and the assistant.

  • Wow. I love it.
