Brian McGuire is a hard call.. but he was another Australian driver who went Europe with alan jones to persue F1, he was constructor as well as dirver.. but was also a privateeer, so depended on wild card and prequalifications to even race, killed in a G8 race, at Brands Hatch in 77, he was driving his F-1 car, and it for him, would have contributed to his chances of a GP start in that season.. and Wikipedia does list him as an offcial F1 fatality, whilst it was a race, perhaps it fits here.
@Apis4 As whilst it was not an factory or team test.. he was testing his new car, modified from the orginal Williams he drove. So just think it best goes here as opposed to drivers killed competeing, as he wasnt competing in a F-1 race meet when killed.
Muy merecido el homenaje a estos pilotos, realmente a alguno ni lo conocía, pero los que amamos la F1 sabemos que todos son parte de la historia, sin importar los exitos conseguidos.

is it that hard to read the title? you are too dumb for me...so Gilles died in a non championship race?!?!?! youtube is full of ignorant imbeciles posting shit out of their clueless emptly brain
What about Bruce McLaren, or Jim Clark, they also died in a non-championship race. I believe Clark died in a F2 race at Hockenheim. Still nice video, RIP from the Netherlands...
Very good video, for all those forgotten F1 drivers and specially for Ricardo Rodriguez aka "El chamaco", the driver who impressed everyone in qualifying on Monza 1961, the same race Von Tripps died :'(
Pedro Rodriguez is missing..he died in 1971 as his teammate end some times rival Jo Siffert .He died running in first place during an exhibition race at Norisring driving and old Ferrari ,property of his friend Herbert Muller.
Bruce bought his first car from roger penkse and then the team became succesful after they were bought by project 6, which was owned by ron dennis thats when they became world class
Hm, ok. Any driver who dies in any capacity in any motorsport for any reason is a tragedy. That Honda needed SOOO much more testing. Essentially he was gambling with his own life and sadly, he lost.
True true. John Surtees had washed his hands of it and refused to drive it. Jo Schlesser - a sort of had-been from the early 1960s jumped at the chance to pilot the car, of which the engine was air cooled which reduced the total weight to only 500 kgs - a massive reduction over the RA301 of 80kgs! Schlesser's son drove for Williams in the 1980s and his contretemps with one of the the Mclarens at the 1988 Monza GP, prevented the total and utter McLaren domination for that year.
Jean-Louis Schlesser was Jo Schlesser's nephew, not his son. Jean-Louis was already over 40 when he made his F1 debut as a one-off stand in for Nigel Mansell at Monza 1988. I was at that race, amazing! At the time, he was doing really well in the Sauber-Mercedes world sportscar team.
Quite so! The passing years had made me forget this. Monza 1988 was the only 1988 race that McLaren didn't win because Schlesser had a run in with the race leader - a McLaren.
Thanks Hannuff . we hold in highest esteem these aces who enriched our lives and paid the highest price while performing their artistry for us.they will not be forgotten
You forgot the young brother of Ricardo Rodriguez, Pedro, who was more famous than Ricardo; Killed in a non F-1 race in Germany in 1971. By the way, Ricardo died during the qualification day previous to the First Grand Prix of Mexico (F-1) in 1962. They have another brother, Alejandro, who never raced, keeping a promise made to his father.
Pedro did sadly die in a sports car, a Ferrari 512 at the Norisring in Germany, evidentely a tired old car that had been used in the filming of Steve McQueen's Le Mans movie.
Jo Siffert, one of the fastest drivers ever! What a tragedy how he died in that burning BRM at Brands Hatch. Check out the Siffert documentary 'Live Fast, Die Young' out on DVD now. Also, Steve McQueen's character in the movie 'Le Mans' was based on Seppi.

Jo Schlesser died during the 1968 French GP at Rouen, driving the still relatively untested Honda RA302.
rotterdam1953 3 years ago

I can understand why he took the spot. Hell, I would've! So, his son wasnt any good then?
F1god04 3 years ago
His son was an OK driver but soon faded from the F1 scene when better drivers came along.
The whole F1 ethos changed SO much from the 1970s into the 1980s - 1990s and to the present.
rotterdam1953 3 years ago
