@IndivisblePrinciple They are 2 differnt systems, that dont interact with each other AT ALL. think of rockbox on an ipod as having a computer with both Window and Mac on it. If you want to go back to regualr ipod mode, reset the ipod, and turn on the hold button when the apple logo comes up

It allows you to play Doom, GB, GBC, and a few other apps on your ipod or MP3 player it is installed on. It's way better on Ipod Nano 1st gen.

I got an 80g Classic and I put it disk mode and I followed all the instructions (extracted .rockbox and put it in the root folder).

When I run the boot loader (aka ipodpatcher and yes it is the iPod video version) it scans and finds no iPod connected but I know its connected because when I look at the iPod screen it says connected.

Please help...

nope, the firmware is completely erased and there is NO trace of any other alternative OS on the iPod. I don't even think it voids the warrenty because you can ALWAYS just resore it.

Ok, you'll need to turn off your iPod first. To turn off you iPod, hold down the centre button and press the menu button at the same time. And then straight after that, immeditely press the centre button and play/pause button to boot into disk mode. :)

I quit messing with different OS on my iPod when uninstalling Rockbox almost killed it. Buttons became unresponsive, I had to follow the "5 R's" to get it to boot up again. Then, I couldn't enable disk mode manually, or with my computer. Disconnecting it while it was transfering seemed to coax it into disk mode though.

Go to "my computer" and there and there should be a link to you ipod something like *your name* ipo. It's a removable disk and that's the root folder. If that didn't work remove your ipod from the computer and plug it back in and then click Ctrl,Alt,Delete, and turn off your itune before it starts up. Now you should be able to get to the root files. Also before you unplug your ipod turn your itunes on and safely remove your ipod.

alright, for anyone that can answer this, I completely restored my ipod. then I installed linux. then I installed rockbox. then it would only run rockbox. when i did the hard boot for linux, it said file not found, could not load linux. I believe the hard boot for linux would be to hold menu and select, then when it boots up, hold select and right. or something else, it doesn't matter, all i want is to use linux, rockbox, and Apple OS, from the linux bootloader. how do i do that?
