  • I have just listened to Alan Held's Flying Dutchman, and was curious to listen more of him on youtube, because I found him so great, like some great bass-baritones ever heard. He is, for my opinion the next great Wotan. Great technique, presence, expression, voice, and charisma. This is one of the few things one can listen of him here, and therefore, thank you very much.

  • Held was marvelous, but that is Joseph Calleja, the Hoffmann, with Netrebko. Thanks for posting.

  • Not sure what your problem is with Held. I think he sounds great--very rich, warm sound from top to bottom. His French is excellent and his intonation is spot on. He's received much praise for these roles as well.
