Great video! I found this by accident last night. I already passed the link on to several of my friends. I think earthquakes and related phenomena are really interesting. Good job on capturing this rare event on video like you did!
This vid and previous vid are Awesome!. It tells a story of how a historic event tsunami triggered by a distant quake in Chile, at an oblique angle, can affect ocean behavior in San Diego, CA. Thankfully this event provided entertainment and education, but if you were near enough to feel the quake or in direct line perpendicular to the trigger quake, then your priority is to evac inland and uphill, or get to the 3rd floor of a building -- breaking in if needed. If on beach always plan egress.
That is not a tsunami it never happend... It's calls high tide.. Go to San Felipe the tide goes a mile in the ocean then comes back... and I live in San Diego so I know what really happend ok.
That was incredible... Just the way the nature can rush that amount of water inland in seconds. Thinking of how spread out this was, it must have been ALOT of water. But what is a 'Storm Surge'? I'm not used to the phrase as I am from England. Is it just an increase in water level before a Tsunami or am I on the wrong lines here?
@Kitrules94 The term storm surge was incorrectly used here. Storm surge is associated mostly with hurricanes and other cyclones because, well, a hurricane is a storm. Storm surge is the term given to the wind driven waves and water pushed up onto the shore and inland from hurricanes. To call a tsunami surge "storm surge" is quite ignorant.

I've lived on boats for years, and never ever witnessed anything like that before.

It's a first for me too. I probably should have been scared! Didn't think about that though
