Well since I´ve played summon night 1, 2 and 3 for gba the opposite gender of the one you choose doesn´t appear or exist whatsoever.

Well, they do appear and talk to each other in the DS version.. The choice is only to decide whether the girl or guy is the main character and avatar, you will end up controlling both either way..

basically the hardest boss is Phicra since she can cast silence on u which just makes all your spells not usable, so u should be prepared with the Restore spell on ur girl character (Gifted Summoner) or get some Ener-Z drinks so u can cure the Silence spell. ALL creature/summon beasts are easy which i mean like CREATURES unlike the more human characters like Millisar, Phicra and those guys. Millisar, Phicra, Mardin and such are harder coz when they cast spell u cant hit them..

i suggest u get best equips u can and use ur male character (Summon Beast) and use the sword skill "Sword Dance". Its kinda the most effective skill against bosses. OR u can try using the girl (Gifted Summoner) and get ur heal supreme or just normal heal to a high lvl and just spam heal while the AI controls ur male character. I already finished the game and doing the Extra bits.. kinda easy lol doing 6-7k dmg haha

i've beaten the game some days ago. only 30h or less are needed. level when boss encounter: 56

its got a somewhat MMORPGish feeling (like RO or tales weaver, click/tip and hit) but it isnt very well done =(

my personal ratings:

Char Design 6/10 (average.. HEY where is the old character designer??)

Graphics 6/10 (err..)

Sound 6/10 (oh man..)

Music 4/10 (although the analogy might be mean, it sucks compared to the RO BGM)

Voices 7/10 (quite good, but...that won't save the game.)
