nope, no chip needed... but you'll have to follow some steps for a software mod on the ps3.... the instructions are laid out pretty easy on the site so you won't have a hard time following it

no it costs like 50 for a membership but all your games after that are free... yeah i think ps3 blocks the site, you have to access it through your pc... if you have linux installed on the ps3 then u can download directly there though

by USB... i have linux fedora installed on my ps3 so i can download it straight to my ps3... you might wanna do that, it makes it much easier

yeah you can't log on directly from your ps3... except with linux if u install that, then u can download straight to the ps3 which is what i do now... i used to just download to my pc and then transfer with a usb
