@dv713 any kid that hasa hard time bonding with a lionel train set then i would have to say they have some big time issues wanted a lionel growing up as a kid we got lionel sets by one man that my father and grandfather was friends with he worked for lionel and every year from the eraly 80s untill 1991-92 for christmas he got me a lionel set but my father didnt want us to open it a week ago he just gave me the first set that was given its the 1981 lasser space & militray set box is still sealed
Thank you for answering a question that been bothering for a long time. I seem to remember seeing a Lionel Western style train at a local Toys R Us. My dad, being a huge Western fan, really liked that set. Now thanks to this video I now know the set. The James Gang set. Thanks again. It's great seeing those old commercials, great childhood memories.

Thats a nice old commercial.
The trains were a great toy because you could keep adding to it with accessories and other trains.
I used to add to my set every year and I saved them through all the years.
My kids enjoyed them and now my grandkids are enjoying them.
If you have no imagination and only like to kill animals I guess these are not for you but for the rest of us these were and still are the best.

Nice Demographic Marketing.

After about 5 minutes of watching this train go round, the average kid would be bored, then go out and shoot birds with his new BB gun.

@Trolleymoose - Then you're trapped into buying more track, more trains and working accessories to keep him interested. Clever, huh?
