  • You point out that there have been many parodies of this song, but this song is a parody of songs about deaths of your love. Don't know whether or not it's a parody of a specific song

  • @musicbox193 Good point!

  • I've heard pretty much every version of this song on youtube, and this one is still my favourite.

  • @thegreatluigi Pleased to hear it. Thanks for telling me.

  • @thegreatluigi Indeed

  • Sounds brilliant with that accent, can't wait to dig into a few others.

  • @z3r0t0l3r4ns Well, there's plenty here to check out - but what's this about an accent?

  • Raymond, greetings from Minnesota, US. Is there a place where I can buy your traditional american songs? I have heard better voices, I have heard better guitars, but I haven't heard anyone who pours his heart as much as you in his songs!

  • @abethacker I don't have many traditional American songs on my CDs, but I expect to be doing a CD with Lew Dite soon which will be mainly American songs.

  • ALL the verses as nearly as I can cipher out...

  • Thanks Biomanmic...very informative and intersting too. Love this rendition...labeled American version but the man definitely has a British accent or something!

  • @Sunriseatnoon It's an American song, but I'm an Aussie, mate.

  • Nice rendition, Ray. I was expecting a very traditional version. I just read the H.S. Thompson lyrics to "Down by the River" which explains why she tripped and drowned (there's a verse about too much rye wine). And there's a verse about recognizing her (deceased) by the smell. Check it out!

  • @biomanmusic Thanks for that information.

  • great, I love american songs! :)

  • Well done! There are a couple of verses in there I've never heard before! All sorts of versions floating around the U.S. depending on the area people were living at the time. No doubt there are many lost parts as well.

Anyway, I enjoyed this very much,

    Rolland B. Heiss

  • It's a classic song. Thanks for your comments.

  • Ray....... I cant find this version of Clementine you are singin any where.

Can you help me pleas and tell me where you got the FULL song?

By the way.....I love your voice and your guitar. My compliments

  • I've been singing it a long time and can't remember where I got all the verses from. You can find it on my website: raymondcrookeDOTcom

Click on "My Folk Songs" and then "American Songs."

  • Nice,

    Thanks

  • You're welcome.

  • Thank you. I love this song. As for any "added lyrics," if you've been into this song and the history of it as long as I have, you'll learn this is the real deal.

Only one alternative addition to the sung verse I'll add...

"In my dreams she still doth haunt me

Robed in garments soaked in brine

When she rises from the waters

    And I kiss my Clementine."

  • Thanks for your information.

  • And thanks for subscribing. I hope you'll find plenty to enjoy on my channel.

  • How about using the verse for Gandalf referring to Saruman in Lord of the Rings, the extended screenplay? Gandalf can refer to Saruman thusly: "In my dreams he still doth haunt me,

Robed in garments, soaked in brine,

Though in life, he used to daunt me,

Now he's dead I draw the line."

  • Cool song!!!!!:D:D::D

  • Thank you.

  • Beast of helper , beast of aid, likewise teacher and governess, thou hast killed our mums and dads and now we're all alone. Only because we don't think and act the way we should, do you whip us and beat us until we start being good

~ The History of Avalar, "The PTA Wars/Invasions"

  • I like it !! You made it cool!

  • Hey, it's a cool song already! Thanks for your comment.

  • Awesome singing, and I love the doctored up lyrics!

  • Doctored up? These are pretty much the standard lyrics! Thanks for watching.

  • It was the "Boy Scouts" bit to which I had been referring.

  • In a cavern, In a canyon, Excavating for a mine, Dwelt a miner forty-niner, And his daughter Clementine. Light she was and like a fairy, And her shoes were number nine; Herring boxes, without topses, Sandals were for Clementine. Oh my darling, Oh my darling, Oh my darling Clementine, You are lost and gone forever, Dreadful sorry Clementine.
  • Yes, and the rest of the song can be found on my website. Thanks for the stars!

  • i am from guyana, thanks for this song

  • Bravo! Where did all of those verses come from??

  • Nice rendition! Any chance of you posting the tabs for your arrangement on your site?

  • The chords are there. I had the song listed twice, and the link was only under "My Darling Clementine." I've moved it to "Clementine" and deleted the other title. Thanks for your comment.

  • If this is American Traditional Version why does he sound like a foreigner? But you can carry a tune at least

  • Because I'm an Aussie. But I'm not going to restrict myself to Australian songs!

  • Great! I begin to sing,too! If I hear you singing :-)

  • wonderful rendition Ray!

Can I request some traditional Christmas tunes for the season?

  • I've got some ready to record, but have the flu at present so I can't sing. Hopefully I'll be over it soon so I can get into the Christmas spirit.

  • I've started putting them up now. It's about all I'll be doing from now to Christmas.

  • this was kinda cool

    I enjoy the ol' traditionals

  • I was steering clear of some of them because they have become such cliches, but I guess they become cliches for a good reason.

  • long time fav song!excellent job Raymond!

  • Thanks Dan. Thought you might like this one.

  • i remember my uncle singing this song thank you

  • You're welcome, Danny. Hope you are enjoying the CDs.

  • Who's John Howard? Isn't he some obscure Australian politician?
