  • it shows that elephants possess some sort of reasoning . instead of constantly trying to push him out through the same part , they pushed him through the longer part of the pond to the lower bank , this takes some sort of reasoning ...

  • This made me cry, God thank you for having just HANDS !!!

  • beautiful ♥♥

  • poor little baby was struggling for so long! :,( it's amazing how they gather around him so protectively and touch him with their trunks afterwards

  • This really is a beautiful thing to see but wonder why the person videoing cut out the two most eventful parts...when the baby elephant fell in and when the baby elephant was pulled out. Sorry but that's kinda stupid.

  • @1big11little1 I agree it would have been great to capture the baby elephant falling in. But then filming nature is a once only event - I have just finished filming the herds arrival at the waterhole and did not anticipate that one in 300 elephants would fall in. I had just finished filming when 3 seconds later the baby fell in. Then having just completed a weekend of filming in the reserve, our memory discs were all full, we ran out of space and missed the exit scene.

  • =)

  • they are so adorable

  • people who say animals dont go to heaven should watch this video

  • They sure are cute when they're little.

  • :(

  • Bravo to the elephant ladies!

  • @76i86989789 Yeah, because we don't have lifeguards, idiot.

  • those animals are simply fantastic...you go girls!!!!

  • All I kept thinking about was the nearly 2 dozen Chinese that walked by a dying baby in the street and just let her get run over multiple times.

That, ans rotten f'ing poachers, who don't care if they slaughter these magnificent social creatures to extinction for f'ing stupid ivory statutes. Humans are the planet's plague, sadly.

  • What makes them even more humanlike is that at 1:12, amid all the communal effort, there's still one asshole just getting a drink. "You guys got that? Cool."

  • @FairsleyDifference

The elephant at minute marker 1:12 is a very young juvenile so he is expected to know his place in the pack and let the adults take care of the situation.

  • At the end after the elephant baby get onto the shore, it was like:

Elephant Baby: No, I dont wanna go. I wanna play in the water again!

Elephant Mummy: Hey Mister, Not a chance *push him up*

  • Oh thank god. Most suspenseful thing every

  • absolutely amazing

  • Must suck not having thumbs. :(

  • that was instense

  • 10 people don't have souls

  • I LOVE ANIMALS.

  • the baby is so cute aww illjump nd save him

  • aw if only they had hands/arms :(

  • That poor little thing must be so tired!

  • That baby elephant is so cute, and naughty. After his aunt and mum saved him, he was exhausted and lying down and dont wanna walk but the elepahnts was pushing me to walk to avoid him getting in again.

Btw, I was touched when i see those elephants get into the pond to save him.

  • My brother calls his 9 sisters his elephants. Humans do this all the time. We help each other, and we help others.

  • No tow truck ?????

  • we see elephants going out of their way to help a baby elephant to escape danger. there is more love in animals than in us humans that were created from the image of god.

  • <3

  • Awesome piece of video. Touching and heartwarming. Thanks for sharing

  • Cómo admiro a los animales! :¨) Son tan genialísimos!

  • Amaaaazing!!!

  • who says animals don't have emotions, or a sense of right and wrong, or compassion, because this is all I see here, otherwise they would have just let that poor baby elephant just drown, given up on him, he would have just been a lost cause, logically. But they do feel, they knew they had to save that poor baby elephant, no matter whose baby it was.

  • This is why I love elephants.

  • guys who love 4x4 offroad, or Traction control vehicle, this is the BEST place to learn from the elephant!s

  • Ah no inventen!!!

  • Teamwork <3

  • I wonder what its like to have a trunk

  • @Afr0Afr0 I have a trunk in my groin area

  • @i8hy6e3 - what are you talking about?

  • @moneywithwings peukku alas koska kerjääminen

  • I figured the baby elephant saying, I was scared mommy... And the mother respond back, we were too...

  • Aaaw :)

  • Fantástico !

  • 8 people drowned while other people watched from the side.

  • Elephants hold together!

  • I am drowned babyelephant. Feels great! Would you save me?

  • This reminds of the Wonder Wart Hog comic where the WWH:s dick is too small to rape Lois Lame.

    "I'll use my snout then!"

  • Pikku norsu <3

  • What a lovely video. They are so intelligent and caring. Beautiful. <3

  • tengo que dejar de beber.

  • i saved an elephant onece

  • i want an elephant.

  • I want a trunk.

  • @Hangcat Seen people ignoring a drowning child many times? I haven't.

  • @Hangcat Yes because we humans never would have saved a kid from drowning...

  • You make the call(in old NFL commercial voice)...Who is smarter: Elephants or Dolphins? :)

  • this is why trunks need opposable thumbs

  • The nature is so beautiful...

  • HAnds why oh why dont i have hands :(

  • how cute D:

  • SMILE

  • <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • i was worried when the big one came over that he might accidentally crush the baby

nice to see it all work out

  • @KronusIsPro

Cuz were humans, we think smarter and faster, the fact that elephants are saving one of their babys from drowning goes to show you how smart they really are, plus they don't have hands.

  • @KronusIsPro But could you save a 400lb drowning baby while being a quadruped, with no opposable digits, and a less intricately wired brain in less than 10 seconds?

  • @KronusIsPro you can't be serious....trolling or just retarded

  • I was totally expecting the guy in the British/documentary accent to start talking... disappoint.

  • I LOVE NATURE

  • WHERE IS THE ELEPHANT LIFEGUARD? THEY NEED TO DO ELEPHANT CPR.

  • 6 people drowned and nobody saved them :(.

  • God, they are clumsy creatures.

  • he died three days later.

  • Then they will beat him up so he doesn't do it again.

  • What amazing creatures.

  • Not having fingers would suck.

  • Animal Abuse.

  • In my mind the whole time the elephants were saying, "Fucking hell why don't I have hands!"

  • Niesamowite!

  • It's like playing that 25cent crane game to win stuffed animals... except with your nose.

  • This thread is proof that elephants have more intelligence than the average YouTube commenter .

  • @leedsmanc Keep in mind the average youtube commenter is about 12-18 years old and they have an anonymous identity. What do you expect?

  • @leedsmanc don't get carried away.

  • This reminds me a little bit of the family guy episode where peter is trying to pick up the dead frog with the shoebox lid...

  • lmao at 37seconds an elephant starts trying to beat the drowning elephant with a stick xD

  • thumbs up for opposable thumbs.

  • Quick! Drink all the water before he drowns!

  • She wasn't drowning, she was just stuck. Good effort, regardless.

  • That elephant really nose what to do.

    Ba dah dum.

  • Elephats can't drown actually. They have built in snorkel.

  • @josefsabl You are an idiot. Muscle fatigue would have eventually kicked in and the baby would have died if the adults didn't help. That is how drowning usually occurs.

  • @Nuinethir And you are a jerk who can't take a joke, albeit a bad one. Geez, people on the internet need to lighten the fuck up.

  • @Nuinethir Thanks, it obviously was a joke.

  • @kleenexvincent678 You should die for the gene pool.

  • @kleenexvincent678 I feel the same logic should be applied to you.

  • they should have called Timon and Pumba to save her.

  • How many elephants does it take to save a little one from drowning?

  • This was way better the Baywatch: Nights.

  • @mcnally816

    After the suuuuuun goes down!

  • @ 1:09 " Yeah, you guys save the baby, I'm just chillen... This is good water, have you tried this water?"

  • @DrumsAndMisc notice that is a male; tusks don't give shit.

  • ...and yet religious fanatics claim that humans only were graced with the "gift" of thinking.

  • I was more amazed at how they drink water 1:44

  • Did you ever just look at an elephant and be like "holy shit look at that dick on their faces"

  • Dumb elephant baby is pretty dumb.

  • @Mamboi

Yes, because human babies are capable of stripping down and reassembling a BMW in 5 minutes. It's true, I read it on the internet.

  • The capacity for love, altruism, compassion, fear, mourning. Evolution is an amazing process.

  • @TheAwakenedHeretic Too bad that kinda stuff dissapeared in our species.

  • those two disliker`s parents didn`t save Them from drowning |-)

  • Incredible. Although all the baby needed to do was lift his trunk above the water to survive, no?

  • @RapidEyesCream At that age, they aren't very well adept at controlling their trunks. It was probably panicking, too, and using up its energy trying to get out. Eventually it would have tired, and would not have the strength to lift its trunk anymore.

  • Quick, Simba! Attack while they're distracted!

  • I love this :)

  • Wow, that was amazing!

  • no infanticide here

  • Did anyone start clapping when the baby finally reached shore? :D

  • they are so huge.

  • It was only drowning because it was failing its swimming lesson.

  • 1:10 AND NOT A SINGLE FUCK WAS GIVEN THAT DAY

  • Damn animals and their consistent behaviour and selfless attitudes. Pffft. It's not like it gets them anywhere....

  • Their empathy towards each other and level of intelligence Elephants have evolved is amazing....

... But if they had evolved thumbs on their trunks I think this whole thing would have gone much faster and easier.

  • They are just like us!! Except without hats:(

  • 1:10 the other elephant just comes in all nonchalant to drink some water while all the other elephants are helping the small one. jerk.

  • Honestly all I was thinking the whole time was OMG they take forever. I mean nice of them to save the baby, but they just looked inept to me

  • What great animals.

  • baby ele is probably soo tired after the rescue :[

  • these suckers would conquer the world if they had opposable thumbs

  • Mooom is this water sanitary? It looks questionable to me.

  • FOR THE HERD!

  • 1 person is a poacher ಠ_ಠ

  • @GLXRBLT Now why would a poacher want the baby elephant to die? He would want the elephant to grow big and strong so he can shoot it for its tusks

  • did you not get the part where he fell in? Kind of ruined the video for me. I would've liked to see that

  • Reminds me of the elephants seen on David Attenborough's programme. The baby got stuck in some mud, the mother was trying to get her out, but she was only making things worse, then the grandmother saw this and shoved her out of the way to help the baby herself. They are quite intelligent.

  • Beautiful

  • I love the video and I hate to be a spoilsport, but that baby elephant was born with a snorkel, right?

  • @robcockerham he's panicking and will probably exhaust himself. Snorkels do no good when you can no longer move your tired legs and you're sinking in the water.

  • Baywatch real life

  • I like the elephant just chilling on the side drinking water.

  • definitetly on my favourite list.

  • this is beautiful

  • someone give that thing some floaties

  • Saw this on Animal Planet.

  • Some animals like elephants and dolphins make humans look like complete fucksticks.

  • I love animals we must learn with them !

  • See, elephants are cool like that.

  • Kids these days....

  • at 0:45 one of them is just like.... aww fuck it

  • That was beautiful!! Love elephants, they're such caring, compassionate creatures.

And if more people could be like them the world be soooooo much better off.

  • oh the sheer adorableness of it all!!!

  • ladies, can we not learn from these beautiful creatures about creating communities ourselves, to help each other in times of crisis? I mean really! co-parenting ROCKS.

  • So gentle.

  • hahahah moms r the best

  • poor baby elephant fell in the hole but its very cute that they rescue the baby ^_^

  • In your face Pope Benedict. Compassion and altruism are a Darwinian adaption and not some god came along and gave man a sense for good.

  • @ 0:36 the mom/aunt was just like "oh shit!!!" and a lot of elephants came rushing over to see whatsup haha
