It's not going to be that difficult to turn, with the leverage from the outside edge of the wheel - I'm sure a normal hamster wheel that's gone a bit stiff would be harder to turn than this.

Actually, that wheel is not ideal for a grown hamster. Apart from the problem that these metall bars are known to be dangerous for a hamster's limbs, a much bigger one (10inches) would be better because it is much more comfortable and healthy for him to be in. If he does not have to arch his back while running and mind the bars, he will run much faster, thus producing more electricity! Look up some videos of hamsters in healthy big wheels, you'll see what I mean.
