Spent a couple hours hanging with Anson at a Musicans workshop, got to toss around some blues and such - the man an amazing talent, super humble and down to earth!
Anson is a national treasure!!! I agree with all the previously posted comments. He also played my 40th anniversary strat once in Brigantine, NJ, Another time he let me try his (but it wasn't plugged in). It did play like a dream. How many professional guitarist let you pick up their instrument? Not many.
I agree with Gminor7. I am working on a blues project called The Mill Block Blues with Anson and a couple of the Rockets (John Street on keyboards and Wes Starr on drums). I wrote the songs and played bass. I am having a blast.
Something about this performance just leaves me stunned. Probably because it's perfect in every way. The best I've ever heard Anson, or anyone else, sound. The flow, the groove, the tone, the touch, the phrasing, the vocabulary, the soul, the confidence. This is the Chateau Lafite, the Rolls Royce, the Hope diamond, the Mt Everest of blues playing. Of course, that's just how I hear it, after listening to blues for 54 years. Anson, you are in fact, the man.
That is one serious sounding guitar ...of course Anson could make a Squier sound amazing ...but the way he plays is so laid back and right in the pocket playing to the song with the band instead of dominating it ...a great rhythm player ...instead of being too busy ...playing simple allows the other instruments to have the chance to shine ...A class act ...Please Eric Clapton ask Anson to play Crossroads do we really need to see John Mayer one more time ???...even though he is great ...Anson !!!
I wish the camera operator was a guitarist. Then they would know that a lot of viewers would like to see the front of the guitar and the player. From this angle we only get to see the player. Nice Strat James !

Anson's tone is superb. One of the best I've heard. What amp is he playing? Also great to see him using the neck pickup.

Great playing! That´s how the blues guitar should be played. Top notch tone, athough the guitar has something to do with it, it´s mostly the fingers!
