80's Storytelling Alf Toy Commercial

@SpaceCobraTV That is ... uh, wow ... I remember the sitcom, had no idea about this ... mmm ... really what could I say? Is there a precise enough word in the English language to describe this? I mean, DEMENTED and DERANGED spring to the mind, but ... this? It's just too much for my feeble, feeble mind.

I had one of these... I bought it used at a thrift store about twenty years ago. I never could find the tapes for it, but always thought it would be worth something someday... I paid $5 for it. Favorite ALF line: [while watching a toilet flush] "Interesting concept!"

last month i found a storytelling alf at a thrift store.. he's in excellent condition on the outside, but i haven't gotten him to play a tape.... does anyone know if he'll only work with his 'storytelling' tapes??

i doubt it, i mean its a standard tape player inside him... so it should work... maybe it doesnt have batteries or its broken

@rebeccazirkle i think he might play standard tapes without the animation , most of these talkers do but there original tapes house the animation to operate mouth ears eyes ect ,

@wizzwamf --Nope, it was activated by sound, we didn't have advanced animation technologies back then.

@rebeccazirkle he will work with any tape since it is just a normal tape player on the back of him. i had this awesome toy when i was younger and i remember the tape player was the first thing to go (must have been a defect with the toy). to this day i still have him but i can't get it to work.

I never had this one. I always thought it looked weird. My cousine had one and it was real big and bulky. I liked mine better and so did my cousine

not really. I did some research. I have a talking alf doll in storage brand new....still in the box. and the highest i saw was 40 dollars. i think my mom paid 60 for it at toys r us... but maybe the story telling on is more. i dont know.
