I remember Kordell Stewart from the 90s he was praised to be the next black hope in NFL QBz at the time there was Randal Cunningham and Rodney but not as great as Warren Moon or Doug Williams and Kordell as the guy to fallow Moon and to an extent he did now you got Mike Vick and he's good.
@MobHeataEnt Rodney Pette that is. Steve McNair came in after Kordell, than came McNabb, and Vince Young and it all just fallowed on from there. Jamarcus well he was (is) a bust so he doesn't count.
Some truly classic Sour Grapes here. Get over it fellas, move on.
No matter what you think of Kordell, he gave Buff and all football fans one of the All-Time Greatest Moments in college football. People will talk about it as long as there's football. Of course it was luck, do you think they draw those plays up?
And that 75-yard bomb Kordell threw - that wasn't luck.
Kordell missed the reciever and the ball was bounced up for another guy to recieve it I live in Pittsburgh and every person hated him with a passion as he was bad and never good and we knew that he was lucky on that throw and regret ever taking him but we needed a backup QB
@mshake2008 You are greatly mistaken. He was "SLASH" the name given by the late Myron Cope. He was the most exciting player in the league as Slash. He started a new era of trick plays for Pittsburgh until present day. Randell El, was taken to be Slash the sequel, and helped Pittsburgh win the Superbowl with Trick plays.
Kordell didn't do that well as full time QB, but was great as SLASH, and Loved by Pittsburgh in that role and this is one of the greatest plays in College.
Hilarious. The suc Michigan scoreboard operator wouldn't even change the damn score after everyone and their dead sisters saw that it was indeed a touchdown. - Lame asses.
They always talk about the Flutie play but this was a longer pass and is hardly ever mentioned by the national media as one of the great plays of all time...
and people out there act like CU has no history. you might want to take a quick look, chances are the Buffs have far more tradition than "your" school.
nothing makes me more happy than to see those faggots "big blue" loose... even though were havin a down year, michigan will be our bitchigan... go bucks..
i met kordell in atlanta at the gas station ,when we evacuated after hurricane katrina ,this dude is so cool he talked to me like i been knowing him all his life ,even though we both from new orleans,i got much respect from this dude
I was in high school living in Colorado when this game was on. I remember it vividly cause I was late to work by about 40 minutes cause the game was like a 4 hour and change but my boss was okay with it because CU won. Great memories. CU between 89 and 96 always played big games. Hopefully Embree will get them back.
If you freeze it at 3:15 it looks like the ball may have touched the ground, probably not enough to overturn it if there were replay, but food for thought.
This went about 8 yards more in the air than Doug Flutie's pass.
I swore I would strip naked and go up on my roof if we came back and won this game. After a rather lengthy jumping around and dog-piling and wild five-slapping session, I dropped my drawers and headed up there. All over the Hill, other naked people were up on their roofs as well. At that moment I realized that I am not as brilliantly original and creative as I thought when plowing drunk.
I was in high school when this game went down. My old man was on me to mow the yard and do some clean up as fall was approaching. This game was over but kept watching to delay doing my work. I remember thinking to myself, they're too far out for a hail mary as there's no's chance Stewart can chuck it that far. OOOOPS. Maybe not. Great game.
So crazy. I was 13 when this happened and still remember. I'd watched almost the entire game over at a friend's house, but my dad came to pick me up before it was over. We listened to the end on the radio in the car. I couldn't believe I watched the whole thing and then didn't get to see this play.
I remember watching this whole game at my house when i was 14. I was and still am a huge Oklahoma State fan and now an alum.
When Westbrook caught that pass i remember just yelling out at the top of my lungs and jumping up on my Mom's coffee table with both feet and just destroying it!! Then, i just bounced around the living room!! lol... Never have celebrated a win that wasnt an OSU win before or since
I was prepared to NOTsee this game at the top of the list of the Big Ten fantastic finishes of the 1990s. Because the Big Ten always wins - right? Well, the Big Ten Network needs to show it has SOME credibility... and yes, this game (and play) made the top of the list. Right up there with the Flutie Hail Mary and the Cal-Stanford play (What play? Come on now... lol) as the greatest plays (and finishes) in college football history...
Kordell Stewart. I've wondered for ages whatever happened to him. He was in Pittsburgh for a long time, then suddenly in Chicago, and then when I wasn't looking, he vanished off the planet.
There was a big flap about Kordell Stewart being gay & quite frankly just plain stupid to cost someone their career as talented on the field as Kordell was. I'm a big Buckeyes & Steelers fan so I will always be a big Kordell fan for this game & what he did for us in the NFL.

Are you serious. The ball didnt come close to hitting the ground? It sure did. I am not a Mick fan. Try to enlarge the picture. But even from naked eye there is some question. Today it would have been ruled a no catch.

Kordell threw the ball from his own 27yd line and if the flight of the ball were not interrupted by players, it would of landed on the 1yd line or even the goal line, therefore making the air travel of the ball 72-73yds !!!

@bjchit yeah Slash was good to a point and Rae Carruth was decent enough and Toomer was solid but I was talking about a all pro type player in Ty Law...
There's no question that Ty Law was the best player of the bunch. How Todd Collins was given second string duties over Caleb Hanie I'll never know. But then again it is Lovie Smith.
I've watched this again and again, and at no point do I see the ball make contact with the ground. It comes close when the guy goes down, but his arm is between the ground and the ball.

i've always wondered this, whats the stuff on the player's helmets? today they still do it its like stickers or something, players have different amounts and i think its the teams logo or something, what does it mea?
It's so funny that roboafa still thinks the ball hit the ground. This is one of the more well known plays in college football history. So you just think that you.... and only you.. just happened to spot the ball hit the ground? And nobody else.... nobody.. has ever seen it.... does that actually make sense to you??
@jpe1313 You are right. I enlarged it . Ball hit ground. Ref was out of possition. But couldnt they and shouldnt they have reviewed that upstairs? How could the commentators have not noticed that??
@qwerty112311 the video quality is pretty bad, but right at the 3:15 mark the end of the ball touches the ground. it might still be a catch maybe, the vikings/packers game 2 weeks ago had this problem, but i didnt realize it ever even got close
What do you do when the ball gets tipped like that?? KNOCK IT DOWN!!!

@Weather130 This game occurred before that rule was in place

@Weather130
Why wouldn't they just take a knee on the PAT?

It's so funny that roboafa still thinks the ball hit the ground. This is one of the more well known plays in college football history. So you just think that you.... and only you.. just happened to spot the ball hit the ground? And nobody else.... nobody.. has ever seen it.... does that actually make sense to you??
jpe1313 1 year ago
@jpe1313 You are right. I enlarged it . Ball hit ground. Ref was out of possition. But couldnt they and shouldnt they have reviewed that upstairs? How could the commentators have not noticed that??

@ah1106onps3 My dad jumped up and scratched his knuckles on the sealing. he then ran outside and screamed. Most of us most likely turned it off

@roboafa
Hits the ground?? What are you watching?
jpe1313 1 year ago 2
@roboafa yea, wtf. he was maybe bobbling it as he hit the ground, but he kept the ball off the ground.
qwerty112311 1 year ago
@qwerty112311 the video quality is pretty bad, but right at the 3:15 mark the end of the ball touches the ground. it might still be a catch maybe, the vikings/packers game 2 weeks ago had this problem, but i didnt realize it ever even got close
roboafa 1 year ago
@roboafa The ball never hit the ground.
