does this engine have a standard SBC bellhousing bolt pattern? what about motor mounts? will the mounts off my 350 vortec fit this motor so it will drop into my 97 silverado?
awesome!!! You just did what I'd to if I got hold of a 350 Diesel!!! Have you been on the dyno? I'm incredibly curious about the output of this badass 350 TwinTurbo Diesel!!!
@GTA3Modder Thanks! Havent got it dyno tested yet. I am going to convert it to manual transmission. I have a 5 speed box ready to put in just waiting on a new clutch kit. Stay tuned for that video.
@dieseljag I will 8) what car is it in btw? You sure that the manual 5-spd can handle the torque? :D you'd be better of with an Allison 6-spd auto I guess :D
So much for all those swearing what junk those engines are, the one I had proved itself, I was a teen, it lived through my abuse, the car didn't, but it was dropped into another to live on.
what have u done to reinforce the head gasket? coopers rings/ wire rings?
this and cranks were the weaknesses I believe??
do u get up to boost easy enough or do u have to really thrash it to get the turbos to spool?
some marine air to water intercoolers would work well here, they just look a piece of pipe with a water jacket, but inseide theres lots of area for cooling and theyre cheaper than intercooler kits etc.
@tpvalley I thought I replied to you. I didnt go down that route with reinforcement. Victor gaskets and ARP bolts is all. The turbos spool to 4-5 psi on moderate throttle, peddle half way. Spools to 10 psi on WOT. I have disconnected the kickdown cable as it was keeping the motor reving to high when I floored it. I turned up the IP 1/4 turn. It is fast on pull off but flattens out at higher speeds. I think this is a result of the autobox. I am considering putting the manual box back in.
out of curiosity though wouldn't that lower your reliability rate on it? i would sure like some more ponies out of my 4500lb car as well. do you know if the chevy 350 exhaust headers have the same bolt pattern as the 350 diesel? i'm lookin to do some exhaust upgrades on my ol caddy to get a little more juice out of it. thanks and nice work good luck.
@aftoyboy Thanks for the comment. I dont think the Chevy gas and Olds diesel share the same pattern but I cant remember for sure. If you put on a free flowing breather and dual exhaust pipes that will help free up some hp. You could also swap out your drive pulleys to increase 15hp.

@automotiveDIY These engines have the BOP bellhousing bolt pattern. As far as motor mounts go I cant remember if they are same the as SBC.

With the torque that thing must be developing, I see a double-overdrive in your future!

Bravo! I am glad to see this and other videos showing what this decent, misunderstood engine can do.

@dieseljag
I ask a lot of people questions so u may have!
I find a good rule of thumb is to set the pump so that u have just visible black smoke on full boost or thick black clag for max power!
