  • if you've ever any doubt of evolution, just listen to attenborough talk about it first hand, he doesn't just believe it coz he read darwin's book, he believes it because he's been out there and studied almost all the animals and biological life and he says its as good as a fact

  • It cant of all 'just' happened until God made it 'just' happen. So God said man will 'Rule' as apposed to 'Have Dominion' over them. Big difference clearly!!!

  • @johnnyM809 "And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” -Genesis 1:28"

  • @KonijNx2

You clearly read your bible more than I do...good spot.

Not for a minute though does this give the human race the authority to do what it

likes to the world and all creatures in it which is what Attenborough implies in his comments.

  • @johnnyM809 I haven't for a long time, I read the whole Bible and about two thirds of the Quran. Well I guess that's what is in your own interpretation - but it's certainly true that if one truly believed this World (in fact Universe) was placed here *for* us, and we respected that this life was but a temporaryexistence before the real fun begins one would have better cause to mistreat the World.

  • @johnnyM809 I would like you to watch another video on youtube, just past the following over the '/watch?v=5...' bit at the end of the URL in the address bar and watch this video.

I know when most people ask people to watch videos the person doesn't watch it, it's only one and I hope you do, it's a very beautiful video.

    /watch?v=r6w2M50_Xdk

  • @johnnyM809 "Something must have created life in the beginning, and given it the means to reproduce. It can't have all just happened." Why must it?

Chemicals have polarity and behave in particular ways under certain circumstances. Certain amino-acids will automatically form chains under the right conditions, and then RNA - RNA possesses the ability to replicate -> RNA first formed basic, archaic cells when polar lipids were drawn around it. This takes no deity.

  • @KonijNx2

You are talking a foreign language my friend. Something must have created life to begin with, and at the same time made male and female species of it to allow it to reproduce. The earth and the universe. It is impossible to create something from nothing and then make it come alive. Something must have made this happen to begin with. Nothing else makes any sense to me.

  • @johnnyM809 If i'm honest I used to feel the same way, but I would at least be happy walking away from this conversation if you would respect that 'must' is way too strong a word.

At the moment I'm coming to terms with the brute fact of existence itself - whether you believe a god exists or not, something has always existed. Accepting that something has existed forever blows a humans mind, which is why you suggest must. But i'm afraid your god doesn't answer the problem.

  • @johnnyM809 It's referred to as the 'taxicab' fallacy in the cosmological argument, if you're familiar with it. But it essentially states that everything must have a cause (as you are) and then that that cause must be a god (as you are). But this just moves the problem a long one step. Our how lives we're in a world with this god idea, so we're trained to accept it as reasonable. Yet it is simpler to simply believe that the universe itself has always existed.

  • @johnnyM809 And it's not as lonely as some might think, to believe that the Universe has always existed (in some form or another) I find it liberating, breath-taking and humbling. To believe that I Have been formed - life from non-life and have been given the chance of sentience by an immense, poweful force. But not by any of your deities - by existence itself.

  • @KonijNx2

Thank you for your replies my friend. You have certainly given me something to think

over, although my belief in God is total and absolute mainly due to my own life experiences as much as anything else. I am fascinated by the whole idea of how we came to be and why we are here inhabiting this beautiful planet. Yes, I will accept that "must" is too strong a word ! Let's be honest, none of us really know for sure how it all started. Enjoy the rest of your life, and thanks again.

  • @johnnyM809 It's no problem, I saw in you a friendliness and openness that is rare which is why I afforded you respect. I hope you will take into account that people in your position are easily targeted by those that wish to sew scientific misniformation and propaganda, and that your search for information is thorough. Cheers.

  • I like Attenborough, but he has completely misunderstood what the Book of Genesis is saying. Absolutely nowhere does it state that human beings have dominion over all creation and we can do what we like. Not only that but Christ's coming into the world and what eventually made up the New Testament, made the old testament and the previous laws and beliefs superfluous. Something must have created life in the beginning, and given it the means to reproduce. It can't have all just happened.

  • @johnnyM809 "Absolutely nowhere does it state that human beings have dominion over all creation and we can do what we like."

    U wrong.

"God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Genesis 1:28 (NIV.)

  • Lovely Thankyou:)

  • 0 dislikes so far..gold!

  • I don't think that God telling man to dominate the world is responsible for the world's woes. Man was meant to take care of the world as his home. That was God's purpose. Too bad that we tend to have strayed from this path. Religion teaches responsibility and respect & reverence for a power higher than yourself. Atheism, on the other hand, encourages total independence and selfishness.. This, if you ask me, is the bane of our existence. If I am answerable to higher authority, I am lawless.

  • It is simply preposterous to suggest that a primaeval human's disobedience or following a curiosity drive - the cause of science, if you will - would lead the SUPREME BEING of the WHOLE universe to endlessly PUNISH his creature with myriad GHASTLY diseases.Needing to believe such a crazy script is evidence of a severely disturbed cosmology, not to mention morality. To link that belief to a reward of endless bliss hereafter is even more ludicrous, and asserted without a shred of real evidence.

  • @walshamite You obviously haven't read & UNDERSTOOD the bible without being biased. God isn't punishing us. We are only reaping the fruits of our disobedience. However, He still offers us a way out if only you will BELIEVE. He gave us the gift of free will & rational thought, but we abuse it to our own downfall.

  • @MrWisdom7

"You obviously haven't read & UNDERSTOOD the bible without being biased."

I've read and understood the bible and came to the conclusion that along with the koran it is the most vile and evil collection of stories ever published.

If we lived our lives according to the tenets of this hateful book then it would indeed be a hell on Earth.

    Thankfully it's just fiction.

  • @MrWisdom7 Completely agree

  • I respect Sir Attenborough because through his documentaries, I have come to understand and appreciate better the world around me. I believe in creation. But on the other hand, I also believe in some part in evolution. Here's my theory; Evolution is an explanation of the PROCESS through which God created most species.

  • @MrWisdom7 Mr wisdom ,you can't have both ways ,either the earth was created in 6 days and all life was fixed in its present form or life began about 3 billion years over an incredibly slow time through natural selection. Choose.

  • @vashna3799 Sadly, many Christians misunderstand the bible by believing that the earth was made in 6 literal days. Usually, when time is spoken of in the bible, it shouldn't be taken in literal context. 6 days could mean 6 million or 6 billion years. For someone as eternal as God is, A billion years to us could seem as just a day to him. So yes, I believe in creation. But not as many do. I believe it took a process spanning many years. A process termed by Charles Darwin as evolution.

  • @MrWisdom7 perhaps you should tell david attenborough that there is a god and you no doubt have the evidence to prove it without having to quote the bible ,the fact you admit the earth is older than what christians have been saying for about 1500 years cuts no ice with me ,you've had to admit that scientists and not religious leaders are right because it would make you look stupid ,yet have the audacity to take credit from scientific studies and say "its all part of god's plan"

  • @vashna3799 Consider this brief illustration:

A jungle kid, who's never before seen artificial light, came upon a flashlight on the forest floor. For days he was in awe at this strange magic light he had found. Then one day, he found out how it actually worked. Does his discovery undermine the fact that the flashlight was made by someone?

  • @MrWisdom7 We are supposed to be intelligent and learned. Don't tell me you think everything in existence came about by chance without an intelligent mind behind it all. Your house, your clothes, even the computer you now use didn't just happen. They were made.

  • @MrWisdom7 .I love science. Through science, I have come to understand how the universe, the earth and the organisms and structures therein work. That doesn't erase the fact that there is an intelligent mind that created and set the laws that govern them.

  • @MrWisdom7 I think your trying to say your god therefore created the trees and the mountains and everything right ? So tell me ,when the sun after 500 million years finally burns out and with that the earth too and the whole solar system ceases to exist ,and in about 15 billion years the andromeda galaxy eventually collides with the milky way causing a complete cataclysm and slow destruction leading to nothing ,can we credit all this to your christian god ? A yes or no please.

  • @vashna3799 "YES". I have heard & read articles about this speculated future event you speak of. Is it science fact or mere speculation? Either way, I do know that everything originates from God and he has a purpose for it all, including us. Even if billions of years from now the sun truly swallows the solar system or even if the entire universe collapses back on itself into a state of singularity. I am certain that it will be according to His will & only he knows what comes next.

  • @MrWisdom7 Have you ever asked yourself ,why don't I believe in zeus? why don't I believe in allah ? why don't I believe in Odin ? why don't I believe in the Roman gods ? why don't I believe in the ancient eygptian gods or the hindu gods? why is it I believe in the judao-christian god instead and I will answer that question for you : Accident of Birth ,you weren't born in ancient greece ,ancient rome ,8th century scandinavia ,india ,ancient egypt or any other era for that matter.

  • @vashna3799 I don't judge other people's religions. Besides, all these different religions have one thing in common. They all believe that the universe was caused by one, or in a few cases, more than one all-powerful supreme entity. That ought to tell you that there is some truth in the believe in God. Even though it's been interpreted differently in different cultures through the ages.

  • Science- Percentage of active theists in a community directly correlates to higher rates of violence, teen pregnancy, abortion, and divorce- even when you account for other factors such as income and race. All religions are morally wrong, and it shows.

  • Attenborough is an absolute legend

  • aww damn, i read David Attenborough on Geese

  • if there is a god why does he hide and make it look as if he dosnt exist

  • @mcdinkity Maybe he is playing hide n seek lol

  • He made extremely wonderful nature documenteries.I thank him for all of them.Hope more ones.Beyond my thanks for his beautiful works, all the people watch his avesome documenteries and thank for God and say how a wonderful creation. This is very funny if we know what he believe about creation or God.

  • Interesting point Attenborough makes. Genesis taught humans to dominate the land and do what they wanted to it, thereby destroying large quantities. Yet, Christian fundamentalists attack evolutionists as being without morals and having only materialistic aspirations and values (all we value, apparently, are superficial things in life) - Yet, Christians and their doctrine have caused, continued, and supported much earthly environmental destruction.

Attenborough is a great man, a superb human.

  • Evolution is based on the foundation of scientific and historical facts. Creationism is based on God Dun It.

  • @Dwicker64 Not to mention a bunch of writings made by a bunch of fishermen.
