If you are considering modular or prefab home, building with recycled shipping containers is worth taking a look at.
Good resource is the Residential Shipping Container Primer website. A SHOWCASE OF SHIPPING CONTAINER HOMES AND BUILDINGDS, AND A DO IT YOURSELF (DIY) REFERENCE FOR CONVERTING RECYCLED INTERMODAL CARGO SHIPPING CONTAINERS INTO BUILDINGS AND ARCHITECTURE.
Lots of great example buildings, details, facts, and links to other articles...
Beautiful, thanks for sharing this with us, I'm a 20 year old college student looking for a way to nab a container and some land and live "green" I love your set up. it's beautiful. I'd love for you to share your process. Where is this located?
these containers come in all sizes. Google: shipping containers and you can see the dimensions on them. I would get a 40' length with a 9' or 10' height so it feels more roomy. You can configure these things in all ways, lots of idea on YOUTUBE.
very cool. thanks for sharing this. if you don't mind my asking....how much was the cost to deliver that container to your site? i've got some acreage out in west texas and north dakota that i'm planning to use as experimental off-grid living.
How do king sized beds make it to the consumer if they are too big for a shipping container?
So a king size is what... 76 inches wide or so? And a cargo container is around 100? Yeah, I can't see the problem here. Maybe my memory has the wrong digits?
You could have had them put the two containers say... 20' apart and then put some beams twixt 'em and made a little roof with a 20x20 space under it and had a glorious outdoor covered courtyard.
