I love original Stargate (1994) movie and never was a fan of its TV show (I prefer Babylon 5, Farscape, Earth: Final Conflict, Lexx, The 4400 etc) but being a huge Sci-Fi fan I had to watch this movie. It was interesting to see 2 leading stars from Farscape here - Ben Browder and Claudia Black. They were brilliant. Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Beau Bridges were great too but I still think that they missed a lot of action. Babylon 5 and Farscape made better "supporting" films

Indeed, the Ori theme (epic fail to me :D).

It does have quite much to do with the sg-1 franchise: O'Neill, Jackson, Abydos (though never mentioned by name in the movie), Skaara...Many things were changed for the series (the alien from movie was changed to a goa'uld for example) but the movie influenced a lot. The theme in this video is also a nice homage to the original movie.

There are rumours of a third Stargate movie ( 3rd as in '3rd movie to be shot after the sg-1 series with the series cast' ) which was going to be more 'O'neill centric ( yay ) . It was said in an interview with Michael Shanks.

And the title of the first atlantis movie is known now: Extinction ( whats gonna extinct, wraith, evil asgard? The entire franchise altogether? :p )
