They were locked- when that happens they often BOTH die of exhaustion and/or starvation. A WMR officer in my area was seriously injred when they shot only one and tried to separate them. This occurs more often than you'd believe - just rare to cap it in video.
i totally agree with the decision in harvesting the deer, it was quick and clean compared to letting them starve to death. My only question is did the other buck manage to unlock his antlers?

how did they BOTH die? I saw the one get shot, then the other wasn't shot. I would have shot him anyway, usually they're so stressed after that the wander off and die anyway.

Man you people need to think a little bit before opening your mouth.. I mean come on...The deer were clearly locked together and had no chance at all of escaping death so why not take them!? both deer would have died anyway taking that shot was ethical and justified i would have done the same thing but im not that lucky! those are trophies despite the size of the antlers simply because of the memory of something you never see in the woods

They were locked- when that happens they often BOTH die of exhaustion and/or starvation. A WMR officer in my area was seriously injred when they shot only one and tried to separate them. This occurs more often than you'd believe - just rare to cap it in video.

i totally agree with the decision in harvesting the deer, it was quick and clean compared to letting them starve to death. My only question is did the other buck manage to unlock his antlers?

heres the thing....they'da both died if one wasnt taken out...my only beef is that it was done in the water, i woulda kicked em up onto dry land and gave myself the challenge of pokin an antler with my arrow to break it up...thats a challenge!...i'm a bow hunter myself, and i HATE seein animals suffer....it's either one dies now...or both die later in this scenario

wowo I have never commented on a video before....but that is just not fair chase...I would have video-taped the fight...just to see it would have been unimaginable...now if the other deer survived and was not taken too, than that may be different... had they not been discovered someone may have stummbled over 2 carcasses...still a pretty horrific death for the other deer...I am a Hunter as well...

I have to say that 99 percent of the time buck are stuck together they both die, slow and agonizing
