Nice job, kid. I've been thinking of making my own but have it authentic looking so I'll try and look for those metal parts but I have a question. If I decide to make one, I want it to actually make the sounds. How do I go about doing that or can you make a video on how to incorporate the screwdriver sound effects?

By the step-by-step format, I mean the wiring. In some parts of the video I couldn't quite make out what was going on. As far as the design, I have a few ideas for alterations already. You know, keeping it creative! :) Thanks again!!

@bbookwalter -- The wiring is already very simple. The LED only has two wires. Red for pos and black for neg. The pos (red) wire connects to the pos end of the batteries. He uses magnets to hold it in place but you could use something else. The neg (black) wire connects to the neg end of the battery but with the switch in the middle.

You are smart enough to do it if you try.

This is fantastic! I have been looking for a tutorial on how to make a sonic screwdriver because I want to make one for my boyfriend who (I kid not) resembles Matt Smith a great deal. I think it will make a fabulous gift for him. Your tutorial seems very straightforward; however, I will admit, I am not particularly technical. I was suprised! one hundred percent, sincerly suprised at how much you seemed to put into this, I was thrown off at the beginning thinking "Oh god, another kid with an annoying voice is gonna show us a shoddily put together piping set" but to my surprise it wasn't that at all! My one complaint is the mic quality on your camera, so as a friendly tip if you can find a clip on microphone that you can hook to your camera it will make these videos top notch! Keep up the amazing work.
