Nice job Caitlin. I've been making this in a different way and love it, but I can't wait to try this. I never added the other meats, I bet that adds so much flavor. Thank you.
This looks AMAZING; going to try it for tomorrow! I love the idea of using a jar sauce; makes it go quicker and easier but still a great homemade dish!
@ultrakool No way, meatloaf never with sauce. I make my bracioles with diced parsley and garlic, salt and pepper and sometimes a sprinkle of romano cheese
Wow, thank you for all your thoughtful feedback! We're delighted you're paying attention. :)
The wonderful thing about food is the traditions that surround it. This is the way Caitlin's family makes and pronounces Braciole. Clearly there are many different versions, and they all sound delicious. In fact, I think I'll add an egg next time. YUM.
I'm a guido born and raised in Jersey. Your family definately makes it different than mine. I think our family makes it more traditional with the thin steak, romano, parsley garlic, salt & pepper.
Hey Caitlin, thats more like a bracoile log ! It looks good. Although I get scolded (I'm 34) by my mom if I deviate by one ingredient, I'm gonna try to make yours anyway. My family is from Naples. I went to naples back in 2006 to soo the old family area and it was fun.
Braciole (called involtini in Italy) are of obscure origin but spread throughout Italy where each region has its own variation.
Caitlin's version looks good but she's kind of spartan with the ingredients. I would have added grated parmesan cheese, eggs, capers, raisins, parsley etc. Slicing the beef to 1/4 inch thickness would have made it easier to add more ingredients.
My only real criticism is what she actually made was not braciola, but a braciolona, a really big braciola.
lol what bloody mess. i know that was bad...it was the only pun i could think of. looks good!
*back away slooooly then runs*

please google "braciole di maiale cotte alla griglia" (the exact text with quotes): the first result is a braciola!

what the h*** are you cooking???
this is not a braciola this is POLPETTONE (and for sure not the best one)!
alxdwn 1 year ago 2
@alxdwn Polpettone is made from ground meat, not from a whole piece of meat. Perhaps you don't know as much as you think you do?

@montrealstars60 yeah, but i am sure you're a self-respecting, meatloaf preparer who'd never, ever, desecrate it with jar sauce. am i right?
